  1. Thanks

I agree, if the heat riser is always in the closed position this should not cause that issue.
Before rebuilding my engine it ran at about 180 -190. After I put in new bearings 160 -170 max  also in summer at 95°F.
196 is pretty warm, so the issue might still be too much vaporization due to heat.
So the main question is, where does the excessive heat come from ?
I do not know the condition of your engine, does not have to be the worst cause.
So first I would consider the the easier things to check.
As the forums colleagues above suggested:
    > be sure the heat riser is really in the closed position.
    > ignition timing ! (No worry, this is no rocket science. Everything what you need is the specs, a bulb and two cables and a bit patience 😉  Ah, and a crank would make it easier to turn the crankshaft)
    > replacement coil available ?
    > valve adjustment ?
    > is your cooling system dirty / radiator o.k. ?
    > common, but more effort, the condition of the water distribution tube

I've heard that a weak coil can cause that when it gets hot.

This isn’t why I am so hesitant to strip my B3 down to do a frame off, I know I will get in a situation where I will let it sit so I am doing small ptojects at a time so I can keep it on the road

Nice truck.....I went to a local car show, I was the only Dodge truck, the only other Car in the category was an  old rusted out Plymouth Satilite the owner was turning into a drag car. They had a trophy for Best Dodge I figured I at least has a 50/50 shot.. The rat rod Plymouth won over my mostly original truck...I was quite disappointed, good thing I don’t have the truck just for car shows. I do enjoy every time I show up and I am the only Job Rated in the show.

ACE and others have a product called Prep and Primer, by Jasco. It has no color and clear adheres to it. My clear over this product on my controversial patina, shows no sign of peeling after three years of application.

I used stock 55  dodge 1/2 ton truck 15" rims to clear the front calipers, then beauty rims and caps. I put a set of chrome wheelies but not to my taste.

Body shop painted them when the car was done in 2003.  I can't comment on the truck vs car hubs, but the wheel folks should have that figment stuff on hand.

Our local volunteer fire department has an annual car show.  I missed it last year, but I was able to take my B-4-B to it this year (won Best Original Truck class).  I am not into the trophies, but I was on Cloud 9 when the man I bought the truck from 42 years ago stopped by the truck to visit for a couple of hours.  I had tried to buy the truck (parked, bed off, not running for at least 5 years) from his father - the original owner (Gilbert Toepfer - pronounced "Teffer"), but he would not sell.  When Mr. Toepfer passed away, his son Marvin called my folks and asked if I wanted to buy the truck from his dad's estate - $100 back in 1975.
Marvin is on the right, I am the one in need of a wide-angle lens on the left. He is now 81 yrs young and still quite sharp.  We talked all things "old Dodge truck" and our hometown. It made his day as much as it did my son's and mine. Marvin told me that he never remembered the truck looking this nice since it was always a work truck.  Because of its work status, he's pretty sure that no "back in the day" photos exist of it (but he will look).
BTW, the man in the lawn chair on the left was showing his 1971 Barracuda (not a 'Cuda) convertible.  He is the original owner.  He joked that my truck was bringing the folks in, then they would look at his Barracuda to be polite.  His car actually took top place  at the show.
