This picture shows how it goes on my doors. I actually was a bit confused myself when I installed mine. I put it on the doors several times before I figured out which way was best. I didn't glue it down until I figured out the right way of course. Here is a picture, I can get you a bit better one if you need it.
Have you got a picture of your new weatherstrip? I can show you a picture of how I put it on my P-15. I wanted to see if the Dodge has the same weatherstrip.
I hope you're right. I think it would leave somewhat of a hole in my life if there were not more old cars around to tinker with. We'll see what the future holds and now can only pray and hope for the best on all issues affecting us.
How hard is it to pull out the steering column in a P-15? I need to paint it and the steering wheel and I was wondering if it would be easier to pull it or try to tape it up and spray it.
I echo you concerns James. I started a thread on this yesterday to get everyone elses thoughts on the issue. Some are concerned and some are not. We just need to help groups like SEMA fight for our hobby and keep up to date on what is going on.
Here's a link to the my thread. http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=12408
That '48 coupe belongs to a gentleman I know down here in So. Il. He lives in a small town called Cobden and has several old mopars. That car is very nice and is a nice driver. He drives it a lot. He also has the light in the hood ornament. His is the first one I've seen up close that lights up. It has a V8 in it. Did you take that picture at Nashville Goodguys Bob?
I measured mine and it is 8 1/2" wide and 6 1/2" across. I didn't measure the height, but I'd say it is about 7" or so. Mine is a Workaholic battery made by Interstate batteries. I bought it at a farm implement store.
I did have to have my voltage regulator tweaked by a mechanic. Then a couple years later I was having problems with the regulator so I ordered one off of ebay that was already set up for the 8 volt battery. It charges great and engine spins right over.
Too bad you don't live closer I'd be glad to give you a hand. After painting my 4 door a 2 door coupe should be easier. Any ideas on a color if you were going to paint it?
Looking good Ed. Can't wait to see my grille pieces on the front of the car. You going to go back with the black paint or are you going to break down and paint the whole car?
I just wondered what everyone else thought about the subject. I'm the kind that expects the worse, but hopes for the best. I was caught off guard several years ago when I found out that my state was enacting laws that could affect my hobby. Figured might as well get involved and keep up to date on the stuff. Then I will know some of what is going on.
Just wondering now that the democrats will have control of the house, senate, and oval office what will happen if anything to affect our hobby. I know I've helped groups like SEMA Action Network defeat legislation on inoperable vehicles and the like here in IL in the last 10 years. In talking to several of my old car buddies they seem to think there may be stiffer rules regarding older vehicles coming out with the new administration.
My argument will and always be that these cars are driven minimal miles each year and compared to the industry the greenhouse gas emissions are much lower from our vehicles. Only problem is with tougher emissions standards on those industries they will be looking to get credits to emit more emissions. That means they may try to blame older vehicles for that and get more credits by trying to force older cars off the roads. I've seen legislation like this being introduced in other states.
I try to keep an eye on the legislative issues coming up in the state goverments and federal governments. You can check for pending legislation at http://www.semasan.org
If we don't continue to stand up for our hobby and rights who will?
I put an 8 volt battery in my P-15. I rewired the car, got new cables, etc. and still had problems with a slow crank speed. Now I am very happy with my 8 volt switch. Engine fires right up and lights are bright. I've been running it for about 6 years and haven't blew any bulbs yet. I've got extra headlight bulbs in the trunk if any problems.
I bought mine from a farm implement store. It wasn't that much bigger than the 6 volt battery. What dimensions do you need? I'll measure mine and let you know the brand, etc.
I like the sunvisor on my car. Makes it look good. I, like Ed, did not like to spot light on the car. It always got in the way when driving and making tight left turns. Got rid of it, but the sun stays out of your eyes better with the visor, and off the dash too.
I'll agree. All of our futures will be affected and there is no need to complain about how things are or will be if you didn't exercise your right to vote.
The rear diff in my car has been leaking a bit. I try to check it several times a year. Always leaves a drop or two on the concrete each time it enters and leaves the garage.
I used a wooden pallet, cut it in half, and screwed the pieces together. Cut a hole in the center to fit the motor and put casters on the bottom. I can move it around the garage as needed with the casters.
Sounds like a vacuum leak possibly. If you don't find your advance bad would probably be good to check for that. I had that problem a few months ago and after checking the intake for leaks all over I found that I had the connection for the wiper motor loose. Tightened it up and retightened the intake bolts. Now does not stumble or miss at a steady speed.
Another problem I had was I put a new gas cap on my car. Didn't know it was pressurized, car missed and stumbled on take off. Took it off and put the old cap back on. Fixed the problem.
I just checked the parts book on Chet's site and it is in the book. Part # 14-26-1. Named as Throttle control wire tube bracket.

Nicely said Robert. Old cars and cars in general have always been a big part of my life. I've met more great people and had more connections with family members and others through this hobby. Plus it still feels pretty good to get behind that big wheel and look over that long hood watching the world go by.
Ahhhh.....nothing like cruising in an old car.
