  1. My favorite version of "Hotel California".
  2. A better question than "What happened to country music" is "What happened to rock and roll?" My favorite country band is The Rolling Stones.. Yeah, I hear ya; so all you guys with pearl snaps on your shirts and your names on your tooled leather belts listen to "Dead Flowers" a couple of times before you tell me The Stones ain't a country band..? P.S. I heard "Stand By Your Man" by Tammy Wynette on the radio today and had to call my wife. Cause after all, I'm just a man...
  3. It's a race to see who takes over the world, Bezos or Musk..
  4. Looks like a nice car. Looking forward to updates.
  5. Nice car! I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
  6. KH, You've gone through more b.s. in your life than most anyone here can even imagine. I don't do any praying but I am hoping the best for you, you cantankerous old fart!!! ☺️
  7. I lied about my age on YT. They think I'm under 18. ☺️
  8. Hey, who wants to associate with a bunch of know-it-all millenials anyway... ?
  9. These are all personal opinions so please take them as such. When I think of C&W I think of the Rolling Stones. I read an interview with Mick Jagger where he said something to the effect, "I love country music but I can't take it seriously. When we do a country song it's always tongue-in-cheek because country music has always been tongue-in-cheek." I sorta see what he meant. Of course things have changed and popular music now just sucks IMO. Of course it wasn't written with my generation in mind. I had my first exposure to music through my family, particularly my mother; who played guitar like Mother Maybelle and sang in the "high lonesome" style she learned almost 100 years ago now. I wish I had recorded some of our duets but such is life.. they still play in my head.
  10. I don't think any paint looks better than lacquer. OTOH enamel doesn't require as much color sanding, buffing, etc. There are still a lot of single-stage enamels around. I've used the Restoration Shop enamel on a couple of cars and a few motorcycles. It works okay but the metallic isn't anything to write home about. I painted my '66 Chevy II with a urethane BC/CC when that stuff first showed up. For reasons I can't fully comprehend I then left the car sitting in a fencerow for 30 years. It looks kinda beat but not as bad as it could be.
  11. I have a brother who just moved from the Twin Cities to Mora!! I really do need to get up there to visit!!?
  12. Or Robert Johnson.. If Keith doesn't get this fixed pretty quick he may start thinking "If today was Christmas Eve and tomorrow was Christmas day." ?
  13. I understand completely. That's partially why I like Moto Guzzis. Useta be a guy near here that had one of those rotary Suzukis. Like everybody else called "Tiny" he was enormous. About 6'8" and at least 400 lbs. I'd forgotten about him. Kept that rotary spinning!! I enjoy the flat track racing at Davenport and a good friend keeps a couple of shady swap meet spots. It's a good place to kill time and shoot the breeze. I'm thinking about Barber this year, too.. Would like to go to Wauseon and Mid-Ohio but the time just doesn't exist.
  14. I think you're on the right track with heat shielding. Vapor lock and fuel boiling has been around forever. I remember seeing a lot of cars back in the good old days with aluminum foil clothespinned to the underhood fuel line. On the good side you know it won't actually leave you stranded, just delayed. I had a Ford pickup that would do almost the same thing. I was never able to fix it although I admit I didn't try very hard. It wouldn't die while driving but if you shut it off during hot weather you were in for a long wait. I learned to work around it and when I couldn't I used the time for meditation.. Kept me from burning the truck to the ground. ? Two thumbs up for the Zep reference, too..
  15. I couldn't get the water pump to quit leaking on the one I parted out. I looked for another CX for a while but just never came across the right one. I sold the carbs to a really nice and fairly well-known fellow from Greenup, Il. He had spent some time at the Peoria TT in the early '60s with a gentleman with my name, not MacktheFinger but my real name; and Dick Mann. I promised to visit him in Greenup sometime but still haven't gotten around to it.
  16. I don't know if it's true but the story is that Honda used Moto Guzzi's transverse v-twin arrangement in a trade for the rights to use Honda's automatic transmission technology. I bought a Honda CX that had a leaky water pump in the '90's. It had bags and a Pacifica bathtub fairing on it. An ugly thing for sure. It had also been repainted yellow, my least favorite color. I sold all the peripheral parts that were worth anything and took the rest to the salvage yard. I still have the wheels, forks, radiator and a few other parts that wouldn't sell. The pic is my 1970 Moto Guzzi Ambassador. I've since taken off the Ducati mufflers and put new exhaust on it. Absolutely great motorcycles, rock solid dependable and easy to work on.
  17. A lot of people haul their bikes here and there and then ride around the countryside a few hours but I'm really not into that. A couple of days riding alone is always enjoyable, though. The kid and I have been planning an extended trip to the southwest for almost forever but I can't think of anyone else I'd want to spend days on the road with. I've ridden with people who'll drive you nuts stopping at every exit for this, that, or the other.. I'm old, I need to get things done fast!! ?
  18. Saw a friend from Alabama a few minutes into this one. Surprised me a little but he does get around. I only have one motorcycle trip planned so far this year, Labor Day in Davenport. Have also been thinking either Mora, Mn to see my little brother or New Orleans to see my old friend Bob. Either way, nothing beats a 1,000 mile road trip! ?
  19. I like HalfAssKustoms. His fearlessness at tackling any project is admirable but for some reason I have to watch the episodes a little at a time.. Ten minutes in.. ZZZZZ!! Tried watching Coldwarmotors once but the guy's voice bugged me too much. KeithB's really good and Pacific Mike's good if you like sickles..?
  20. It was Tony's rep on the line, not Nick's or whoever else was involved. He should just move on like it never happened.
  21. I gotta agree with that.. I still have friend's playing traditional C&W and bluegrass. If I can find any of their stuff online I'll pass it along.
  22. Let me guess, you like both kinds, country and western?? ?
  23. Yeah, I know and I get it. It still struck me as sad. Apparently her father had just died and she was really grieving his loss. https://variety.com/2021/film/news/tawny-kitaen-dead-whitesnake-video-bachelor-party-1234969193/
  24. The concept as explained by PA-- designed to gather light from approaching car from rear and illuminate the lens as a reflector--seems optimistic and it's certainly not intuitive but it makes more sense than anything else, with the caveat that even fully illuminated the tail-light isn't likely to blind anyone.
