  1. Does look nice. Can't remember why I wasn't more interested: Price may have been too high or the distance too great. From the link, I didn't see any indication it was for sale this time.
  2. Just kidding of course. I sure wish I had the time and expertise to do something like that. I know you need the molds. How difficult do you think it would be to make a P15 convertible mini?
  3. ...remove the old car in PhotoShop (or similar program) or just crop it out. It seems like you have plenty of pic there for a good cropping. David
  4. This is the same shot, but I've been messing around with some effects and filters in PhotoShop on it.
  5. ...and came across one I really like. Thought I'd share.
  6. Got an email today that appeared as if it was from Paypal. We've all probably seen one of these, but this time the scammers used a clever twist. The email looks as if it is an instant payment notification. It told me that my payment to some character in the amount of $499 for a 60GB ipod had been sent. Below the payment notice, it has a typical "If you feel this payment was in error..., click this link". Of course they are hoping the panic attack will set in and that you'll rush to the link to stop the unauthorized payment. That's where they nab all your account info and then really strip your account clean. If you get any emails like this, DO NOT click any links in the email. Using your own URL library or directly entering the URL in your address line, go directly to Paypal or whoever the message refers to and see if the reported activity actually took place. Just a heads up. Have a scam free holiday! David
  7. ...5800 - 5999 N.W. 7th Ave. in Miami, FL Yes, it does look like a merry gathering of Mopars. I have several old post cards that show predominantly Mopars. Strange since we all know Ford and GM combined were more than 2/3 of the market.
  8. ...fuel into snake oil or something? LOL!
  9. ...I'm going to have to hit you up for one of those as well. Very Nice!!
  10. 1. Shell's Super Store parking lot. Plenty of fat fendered beauties here! 2. San Francisco circa 1947. Nice Balfour Green P15 parked on the corner. 3. Orange Park in Orange, CA. Another Balfour Green P15 parked, I believe, next to a Blue D24. Wouldn't you love to cruise through that parking lot? 4. Another Balfour Green P15 cruising through Hemet, CA. A nice Chevron Blue Club Coupe is parked in front of the Coleman store. 5. Looks like a 1940 Plymouth parked in front of the Beacon Restaurant in Santa Maria, CA. I ate at this restaurant with my father in the late `60's. Around 1976 it was torn down to make room for an office building. I talked with the man that owned it from the early `40's until he sold it to the office developer. He regrets the decision and now serves on the local historical society trying to preserve old buildings in town. At one time, the Beacon was part of the Atlantic Richfield gas station chain. Most stations had a restaurant. This one actually had a motel across the street called the Ranch House. That building is still there and very well preserved although it is no longer a motel.
  11. 6. Pony ride in front of a P15 Club Coupe. This appears to be early `50's as well. 7. The two intrepid fishermen. That P15 has seen some dirt! 8. P15 full of babes! Gotta love the early version of go-go boots. LOL! The cars across the street suggest `49 - `51 as the date. 9. Great color shot of a man and his new P15 in the snow. Note the pride as he has polished it so well in the snow that you can see the reflection of the drive in the doors. This pic was dated 1948.
  12. ...that I thought you might enjoy. They are: 1. A pic I really enjoy because: it has both a P15 Club coupe like my first P15 and a 48 Ford like the one I used to own. Notice the true white walls on the P15. This image is from a negative I have. 2. P15 Club Coupe on a quite street. This one has the more typical plastic simulated white walls. 3. Little boy with big snowball. Nice row of 40s cars including a P15. 4. Woman out for a cruise or Christmas shopping. She actually has packages on the package shelf! 5. GI Tom and his two loves. This pic is dated 1952 and notice that Tom has made a couple of mods to his P15. There is no hood ornament and the hubcaps appear to be changed. Second set to follow in next post.
  13. Despite a chill in the air, our sunny weather gave me the perfect opportunity to sport my Spring National shirt along with my Santa hat. The shot was taken in front of California Congressman Abel Maldonado's home in the historic carriage district of Santa Maria. The home was built in 1933 and is featured on some postcards from that era. Giant chrome bells from Walgreens.
  14. ...at the Detroit plant. In the photo, you see just about every configuration of bumper guards you can imagine. Some with none, some with three on the front, most with two. You can't see the rear bumpers, but another photo I have with P15s being loaded on a tranport truck to be sent to a dealer, shows several P15s with bumper guards on the front and rear of the car.
  15. ....but dropped the two-tone. Actually, several of the pinstriped wool broadcloth patterns were hold-overs from the `41 - `42 models. I have the original fabric swatch cards which include not only the Plymouth, but the Chrysler, Dodge and Desoto swatches as well.
  16. So much thought given to the more immediate and important issues surrounding victims. The hurt will go on for some time. My great grandmother and grandmother were born in New Orleans. My great grandmother was abandoned in Orleans Parish and raised by the nuns in the convent. Fortunately, I secured copies of all her original documents long ago. Her birth certificate is written completely in French. I had our French teacher, at the school I teach at, translate it for me. She had a home in the French Quarter until she moved to Virginia after receiving my great grandfather's Confederate Veteran's pension, compliments of Governor Huey Long. $3500 during the depression was an outrageous sum and she bought a home in Norfolk VA with it.
  17. Plymouth went away from the two-tone door panels in `47 - `48.
  18. The engine transformation always brings back fond memories. Second set not only shows my cars transformation, but shows what happened to my own waistline over five years. Ugh! Gonna have to lay off the sweets this Christmas.
  19. That would make an interesting colorization project. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I will be having my students focus on old Mopar photos for their colorization project in January. I would love to have more material to work with. If you or any other forum members would like to send me a pic, I can include it in the project and send you a digital copy of the finished work. Only thing is, I can't gaurantee the quality of each project. I have 150 students and their skill levels vary. Some will be really nice and others will come out... hmmm... I really can't say.
  20. I have the original photo. It is black and white and I colorized it using Adobe PhotoShop. I played around with several version including one in which I replaced the Chevy with a Plymouth as was pointed out. The dealership was real. I'd have to dig it out, but I believe the dealership was in Ohio. It was stamped and dated by the original photographer on the back.
  21. ...from the early `40's (model 601, 602, 801, and 802) that were used in furniture during World War II. I came across one in an antique store once and was amazed to see an 802 in a sofa side table. Well, it turns out that Motorola found this to be a convienant way of getting rid of the huge inventory of radios that had produced for Chrysler products just before automobile production was discontinued. Tonight, I came across a website that shows the same setup I was talking about and goes into detail regarding the use of Motorolas in furniture. The URL is http://oak.cats.ohiou.edu/~postr/bapix/MotChrSd.htm
  22. ...it looks like they're using the same images as the Florida site. Wonder if they're connected or someone just ripped off the photos. http://www.westernwireless.ca/cradios/carrad.html
  23. ...in checking out their web site. http://www.radiosforoldcars.com/
  24. ...that April was my birthday month? Or was it just a coincidence?
