  1. Thank you all for your condlences. Dad was always a Chrysler man and owned a few Plymouths. I don't know what the truck is, I tryed to enlarge the photo but it got too blurry. John
  2. Jim Thanks for the info. I'm still rebuilding the motor so disc brakes will be later this year. John
  3. My dad passed away Feb 12, he was 89. After he graduated in 1935 until 1941 he was a truck driver. While going through some old pictures I found thispicture of his truck. John
  4. Jim Did you have to drill and tap your spindle like the Py- do kit or was the caliper bracket just a bolt on? What rotors and calipers does the AAJ kit use? Are you using your original master cylinder? John
  5. Hi Frank, nice to see you on the forum. I remember talking to you years ago when I had my 48 convertible. John
  6. Which kit will allow you to use stock P-15 wheels? I don't think you can with the ECI or the one in Tex Smiths book.
  7. My father passed away in Feb and i got his 30-06 Springfield. We used to hunt deer with it in northern Michigan. When dad was in the phillipines during the war he shipped a Japanese rifle back to my grandfather, I still have that one. Dad was in Hawaii in 1942 and they sent him to fix some trucks for the Hawaii national guard. He went to the island of Niihau and while he was there he got parts off of a Japanese Zero that had crash landed there during the Pearl Harbor attack.
  8. I plan on the Concord Meet. It gives me all summer to get my engine rebuilt and installed.
  9. We are leaving saturday morning for Myrtle Beach,SC. It's 7 degrees and 6-12 inches of snow are expected here in Michigan. I hope it warms up down south for part of our vacation.
  10. Went out yesterday to look at the motor I bought last year. It was about 45 degrees in the garage. I had heard all the horror storys about taking out water distribution tubes but thought I should give it a shot. I put a hook in the tube, hit it with a hammer twice and it slid right out in one piece. It looks to be in good shape. One less thing to buy for the rebuild. After I that job I went out and cleared 6 inches of snow off of the drive.
  11. I pressed mine out on an arbor press at work. When I pressed the new pin in I used an adjustable square to check the measurement. Originally the shops that did this work had a jig to press the pin to the correct measurement. Mine didn't vibrate so I guess it was close enough. Maybe some of the other members will have a better way to do it.
  12. Makes me wish I hadn't sold my convertible. Used my club coupe in my daughters wedding in 2005 and it was a lot of fun.
  13. I just got to member so I've got a long way to go.
  14. I hope I can get my block done for a price that reasonable. I plan on doing some of the labor to keep the cost down.
  15. I have the Hunley Acuff sill plates for my coupe. They were $290 for the pair and look just like the originals.
  16. I have one of the Buegler stripers that I bought at a swap meet. I striped my 33 coupe a few years ago and it worked well. I also put a side door on my Town and Country minivan. It was the same color as the van but had no pinstripe. So I got some matching enamel and now the door looks like it came on the van. One Shot sign painters enamel works best for me.
  17. I've got the front floor mat that Sal Salerno makes, he's listed in the links. I also had one in my convertible , I've been happy with them and would buy one again.
  18. That driveshaft sounds pricey. A guy I know with a 47 sedan had a driveshaft with modern u-joints made in Kalamazoo for $300. I think you could probably shop around and find it a little cheaper.
  19. It's $1.94 here in Michigan. Maybe it will drop a little more before I need to fill up.
  20. When I rebuilt the overdrive for my coupe I used the cluster gear and reverse idler out of a P-15 tranny I had lying around. I thinnk my OD was a mid 50s Desoto transmission.
  21. The springs were $290, 8 bushings were $8, and I think $39 shipping. I had good luck with the ESPO spring I put on my 48 convertible years ago.
  22. I ordered new rear springs and shackle bushings last week on thursday from ESPO springs. Much to my surprise they were on the front steps when I came home from work on monday. That's good service. My last day of work is friday then 6 weeks vacation and retirement. The springs will be a good spring project, pardon the pun.
  23. Fella here in town took his P-15 4dr sedan to Maaco last year. He had it painted two tone light blue on the top half and dark blue on the bottom. It doesn't look too bad but they didn't take any of the trim off and you can see the tape lines.
  24. I only get on the computer after 10pm est. Usually the thread questions have been answered earlier in the day. If I see where I can contribute I'll throw my 2 cents in. I'm on my second P-15 and have learned a little bit about them since I bought my first one in the 1990's.
