About Me
I have a 1950 Dodge Wayfarer. This is a work in progress. The front shocks, disc brakes, gas lines, 2 zone master cylinder, brake lines, rear end swap (Maverick w/2.79), motor swap (1959 Plymouth 230), and 'hot rod black' paint were done by the previous owner. I have had the manual tranny rebuilt by George Asche w/fast second gear and floor shift conversion. I have replaced the front bench seat w/buckets from a 2004 Silverado w/shoulder belts built in. I have added dual carter carbs, Offenhauser intake, Red's Headers, and dual exhaust with Thrush Hush mufflers. I have lowered the front 1" with Windstar springs less one coil, new Monroe OEM shocks up front with load levelers in the rear. 15" tires at 24 lbs. pressure, rides really nice. It is a bit slow off the line but cruises around 2500 rpm at 75 mph returning 20 mpg on the highway, most of my driving. The longest trip to date from home in Rochester NY is to Rhode Island where my brother and his family lives. My nephew Ted has a 1950 Chevy pickup, also matte black, also with white visor, also with chrome headlight eyebrows. Side by side they look like siblings!
