  1. Wow, do you have any more information on Ontario Remanufacturing? How long they were in operation etc. Thanks for the info everybody that's good stuff. It's interesting to find this stuff out, about a bygone era where they actually rebuilt things. I did get around to measuring the stroke on the weekend, engine turns over fairly easily with a wrench on it, which is nice. Unless I made a mistake the stroke is 4 1/4" Which would make it a 237 (236.6). While I only thought there were two engine sizes at that bore (251, 265) it turns out there is a third smaller one, and that is what this appears to be. That's nice that it has a truck pan as I am looking to pick up a C-series truck soon. Andy, I did put up a few pictures on a thread probably a year ago. They should be here: Dean
  2. Thanks for the replies. Would it have had a serial number originally that they would mill off and replace with their own? Here are a few more pictures of it. I didn't have time to measure the stroke, but I will this weekend.
  3. Hi everybody, I'm wondering if I anyone can shine some light on a motor I have in my garage. It came with our 1940 D15 when we bought it. It looks like any other 25" (Canadian) flathead, except it has a blue/ turquoise paint and has this 'rebuilt' tag on it, along with a serial I have never seen. Block serial reads OR 14 1912. My guess is it came from a Chrysler Canada authorized remanufacturer. Were these common? According to the tag it has a bore of 3 7/16, which means either a 251 or 265. Any thoughts? Dean
  4. I guess what I'm really asking is, at what point in time did Canadian and American trucks or cars start to share the same paint across the border? If I purchase an American paint chip chart that covers 1956-1960, will the paint chips be the same? Dean
  5. We would like to get the true colour, or as close as possible. I suppose we are not as concerned with judging (it's a 3 1/2 ton truck, who judges those??, maybe the ATHS?) as we are with correctness for the sake of being correct. I guess my real question is, if I were to get an American Paint Chip chart, of which there are a couple for the C-Series Dodge trucks on eBay, will this be correct also for a Canadian truck? When did Chrysler start sharing paint across the border? Dean
  6. Yes, I think so. This was the site I used to figure out the two colours we thought they were. Only problem is I don't know if the colours that were put on American trucks were the same as what they put on Canadian trucks- especially because I believe they were 'commercial' colours- used on commercial vehicles (the trucks) only. There are some differences between Canadian and American trucks and truck literature, not sure if paint was one of them! Dean
  7. Hi everybody, I posted this in the Car section as well, as I wasn't entirely sure where to put it. My brother has a 1956 Dodge truck and we are looking for paint chips/ paint codes for it. It is a two-tone, we believe the colours are Pontchartrain green for the lower half and Banner Green for the upper half. It is a Canadian truck though, are the paint codes, or even the colours the same? We own a 1940 Dodge as well and know that the original blue colour is either exclusive to Canada, and the original paint chips are long gone or no longer being mixed, I can't quite remember which. The trucks I believe were painted in commercial paint colours- were these commercial colours shared across the US- Canadian Border? Thanks in advance, Dean

  9. *To continue from my first paragraph... it would be nice to have another look someday soon at the 1940 Brochure that the previous owner also had amongst the documentation. Dean
  10. Thanks for the replies everybody! Thanks for the information Bill, it's nice to know that the car was blue originally... I think it looks nice in blue. Would the metallic have had metallic flakes like the colours do these days? The car was repainted in the mid 70's in a GM colour I believe, from what we have gathered. I wouldn't be surprised if the previous owner had come to the same conclusion with the paint number and chose the next closest which happened to be a GM. I don't suppose you happen to have a 1940 Canadian paint chip chart? It would be I am not sure to what degree the car has been restored, the underbody, underhood look what I would take as original but it is possible they are not. I cannot remember if there is primer showing or not. I will take some pictures and get back to you on the subject. I can tell you for sure that my brother's 1956 Dodge 2.5 ton truck is an original Canadian truck with red primer under the hood and under the floor mats. Andy, very nice car as well, I like the brown colour. I'm not able to come on and post as often as would be nice but here are a couple more pictures from the same day, none of the interior right now, I don't have any on my phone or computer at the moment.
  11. Hi everyone, first post here. Great looking site with great information. I am hoping someone can help me with a query I have. My family has what is almost certainly a Canadian built D15 and I am looking to decipher the data plate on the firewall. I know information is sketchy at best...especially for Canadian built cars, but any help is greatly appreciated! The tag reads: D15 2DR SED 1317 1559 AKF 1317 is the body number, correct? As in the number of the D15 body that rolled down the line? Does anyone know what 1559 paint code or AKF trim code is? The car was owned for roughly 40 years by the same owner before he passed away and we purchased from his family last year. The car was clearly cared for and driven often, and will continue to be loved and driven. Luckily he had stored away A TON of spare parts and Canadian specific manuals. None of the manuals have been too much help with colour/ option information or history unfortunately. Thanks for your help! Dean
