  1. Hi Tim, I want to keep your kind thought going! HAPPY 92ND BIRTHDAY to GEORGE ASCHE JR on this 6Feb24 date!!!!!! Regards, Walt Redmond Kingman AZ
  2. FarmerJon, EXCELLENT SCORE!!! Do a search on this website for "Don Coatney". Don contributed a LOT of excellent information here on his build/conversion of a 25" engine into a P-15 PLymouth. Walt
  3. Not a problem! Let's get back to talking about Mopar flatheads!
  4. 1) Ken's "Tiki Bar" was built behind HIS HOUSE, by HIM! 2) HE SPENT approximately $200, as the majority of the materials were given to him by friends. 3) The fence separates our golfing community from the BLM land in the background. 4) OPINIONS and INCORRECT ASSUMPTIONS often don't speak well about their source. By the way, ARE YOU OKAY??????
  5. YEAH! With a typical 5 mph breeze, 5% humidity, and 15-20 degree nightly temperature swing, and a 'misting' system; It's worked out beautifully!!!!
  6. Oh, Ken's Tiki Bar upgrades were very kool, although we did go inside after just one!
  7. I got a call on Friday from my buddy Ken, to come over and check out some enhancements he had made to his Tiki Bar. Now mind you, this was the hottest day of the year so far in Kingman! What the heck, so I drove "Fatso" over to Ken's. Absolutely no problems, and it was 108 in the shade there.
  8. HCD, Your '48 New Yorker Business Coupe is a very neat and rare car! Get ALL the electrical straightened out, and in particular the transmission. There are guys on this site, who can guide you through the hurdles. Walt
  9. I'm always amazed at how sharp you guys are in spotting details. If you want me to elaborate on the why and how some things were done, I can! Fatso's powerplant is a '90 DeVal, which is an enhanced Chrysler Industrial IND-32. Yes, it is a 25" long-block!
  10. Don, Yes, Chrysler Industrial did make Flathead 8-cylinder engines. I saw a Bay City shovel with one a few years ago! Walt
  11. Swanny, The plate that you have been examining on your '48 Dodge is referred to as the "Body Serial Number Plate". That is all that it is - just the serial number of the body. There is no reference to the Car Serial (often called the VIN) Number, the Engine Number, or anything else. Dodge Division calls the D-24 Business Coupe a "Dodge De Luxe Three-Passenger Coupe". I believe that your Body Serial Plate actually reads "26044TPC". The "TPC" stands for Three Passenger Coupe. Your '48 D-24 was assembled in Los Angeles CA. My California built '49 Dodge Business Coupe was assembled in San Leandro CA during early '49. It's Body Serial Number is "27536TPC". It's a very late production vehicle, as the last D-24 Business Coupe's Body Number was "27600TPC"! It should be noted, that all the California assembled D-24 Business Coupe's bodies were made in the Detroit area, and shipped to the west coast. Walt Redmond Kingman AZ
  12. Res Ipsa Loquitur Do a "DeVal 265 Replaces 230" inquiry on this site's search engine!
  13. I think that you've taken a very reasonable and methodical approach in your quest of "performance gains" for your wonderful '34 Dodge DR Convertible. I've gone the same route on enhancing (a bit more!) the power on my 83,490 mile California built and always licensed '49 Dodge D-24 Business Coupe.
  14. 48 NYer, The OEM part number for a "Fuel Tank Locking Cap" is 1117771. Walt
  15. Tim, I'm a believer in using Asche products! My D-24 Dodge Business Coupe utilizes an AoK Racing tri-power intake on it's 274" '90 DeVal (enhanced Chrysler Industrial IND-32 clone) and an Asche Brothers' special short-length starter. My '52 Plymouth Suburban High-Clearance wagon has a George Jr. built Overdrive and the proper D6U1 carburetor. The Asche Brother's supplied the starter. Walt Redmond Kingman AZ
  16. Gentlemen, Here's my approach with a 25" 274 cu. in. engine in a D-24 passenger car. We fabricated a 6-3-2-1 system using Langdon "Spitfire" cast exhaust headers. The manifold outlets are 2 1/4" and they merge into a 2 1/2" pipe that feeds into a (2 1/2" inlet, 2 1/2" outlet) performance muffler, and then to a 2 1/2" tailpipe to the back of the car. Perhaps you could look at a similar approach? Walt
  17. It's the last day of the year, and I'm out dropping off libation to a couple of buddies in our Valle Vista complex. Cloudy and 45, and come to think of it, this is the first time I've had the cowl vent closed all year!
  18. TWO BIG ASS 6-CYLINDER DODGES. My '49 and '99 - 50 years apart! It's 50 degrees out here on Christmas day. I've been using these two, for some Christmas "goodie" deliveries. The Coupe is good for long, lighter items and the Dually is best for the heavier big stuff. Anyhow, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
  19. Bryan, Right up front, I want to tell you that I'm a long-time friend of (fellow Michigan Hot Rod Association member) Tom Langdon. Tom's market scope for his 25" 'Spitfire' headers was for engines with "all known inlet manifolds"! In fact, I lent him my Factory Truck Dual 1 BBL set-up, to see if it was compatible with the headers he was developing. Plus we all know now, that various tri-power intakes also work! I copies the 'SPITFIRE' Headers announcement below, from the Stovebolt website this morning. Walt
  20. '47 Dodge 1.5 ton', You are correct, sir! My DeVal is a 25" engine, being basically an enhanced Chrysler Industrial IND-32. Walt
  21. James, This is what I did on my DeVal long block engine, mounting the A-o-K tri-power aluminum intake and the Langdon cast iron split manifolds. I used a Vintage Power Wagon's Intake/Exhaust Manifold Mounting Kit AND Slant-Six spanner washers. I haven't had to touch them in three years! Walt
  22. Bryan, THIS WORKS! It isn't guessing, and it isn't theory. IT WORKS! The A-o-K intake and Tom Langdon (Stovebolt) cast exhaust manifolds combination on my 25" DeVal (Chrysler Industrial IND-32 clone), has been in my D-24 Business Coupe for over two years. It has very good power and excellent drivability. It is teamed up to a Paul Curtis T-5 (Mustang/S-10 hybrid) transmission and a '65 Mopar 8 3/4 rear end. In passing, I want to say that I'm a long-time friend of all the principals involved here; George Asche Jr., Paul Curtis and Tom Langdon. The intake, the exhaust manifolds, and the trans adaptor are still available! Just do a "DeVal" search in this site, and you'll find some more particulars! If you're going to continue with the 23" 230, the same gentlemen can assist you on that! Walt
  23. That raises a good question. When did Chrysler stop using the 'wrapped' engine hoses?
