  1. Following along with your rebuild is helping to teach me what to expect if I do a complete rebuild of the '49s engine. This is really fun to watch it all come together.
  2. Everything has come out great, Falconvan! It sure came a long way since I saw it in person.
  3. Man, I've missed a lot of updates! Looks like you're going to have one fun car when it's all said and done. As usual, very nice work!
  4. I had a couple of small pinholes in the tank of my '49 as well but just went with the quick fix of using an epoxy. I'd like to build an aluminum tank for mine once I get my ac/dc tig - I just don't know how long it will take before I can afford it... Heck, I'm still trying to save up enough money to buy my replacement aluminum radiator at this point... Glad you're able to capitalize on this nice weather though!
  5. Sounds like a plan. Just means that I need to start being productive soon in order to have it ready!
  6. Absolutely wonderful to read through this whole thread. Now I know what exactly you were referring to when you told me about all of the body work that you had to do to get to the point when I saw it in person. Incredible work all around! If you need another set of hands at any point, let me know and I'll see if I can make it out. Reading through this really makes me want to get out into the garage and work on my 49 Special Deluxe but both funding and time have been in short supply lately... Again, great job! Jeff
  7. I used one of their rebuild kits for the dual action fuel pump on my 49 Special Deluxe. I was very impressed with the quality of the kit and the car fired right up instantly after reinstallation. I think it was right around $70 shipped to my door near St. Louis, Missouri.
  8. Beautiful work all around and very inspiring!
  9. I'm excited to read your thoughts on how it runs after you do your road tests! I figured out a workaround for my shock stud issue and did a short road test with the new rear end. It drives much better than before until the car died on the way back... Looks like I have more troubleshooting and you finally get to have fun! Great work!
  10. I got one of the shock studs out successfully but the second one broke while trying to remove it. Now I'm on the hunt for a replacement or two and haven't had any luck finding something locally yet. I may just have to guess and order some online and hope they work out...
  11. Falconvan, After reading through this whole thread, it really puts the work you've done on the car into a whole different category. Great work all around and it was a joy seeing it the other week! Thanks again for the deal on the original rear end and I hope to get my broken shock mount stud situation figured out soon. Jeff
