  1. Grille looks like it came off some 2014 SUV or truck! ken.
  2. Hope he's driving the Plymouth, that would be fun. Bet that car runs like the perverbial Rolls Royce. (or almost as good as Lumpy) Not that the weather is so great in the East and mid-west at the moment. ? ken.
  3. We lost about a half dozen chickens to raccoons this last fall...kind of the great chicken massacre. I'm pretty sure the remaining chickens hate raccoons...!!! But of course we don't have average chickens. I think they hate Coyote too, as he nabbed three or four last summer. Not an easy life for chickens that know more than the trough and the crate! If you figure in the losses due to coyotes and raccoons this last year, our eggs probably cost twice as much as the store bought ones from chickens that don't hate. k,
  4. Would have been, kind of a cyber version of falling into a tiger-pit. Hate it when stuff like that pops-up. k.
  5. Neil, now that reminds me....(this is off topic, right)....I was coming home from night-shift early one morning, (many moons ago) I live in a rural area, sun was barely up, and a little bit of ground fog. I passed this guy walking down the road, Union uniform, 1861 on his shoulder, (I love the 1861) all geared up, just walking down the road, way out in the boonies, no houses close by. I still wonder if it was a ghost, or a re-enactor. I'll never know! Was truly kind of spooky. ken.
  6. I just did Lumpy and there was no problem getting the springs in and out. Almost felt guilty it was so easy. Almost. ken.
  7. The man with the Pan is correct. Lumpy and I both concur. ken.
  8. Oh yeah, she gets driven to work. She also parks close to the street, so the whole world gets to see her. I work at a high school, and she's quite popular with the students. I guess I should have said: "MORE reasons to drive Lumpy"!! There seems to be more than a couple ways to lower, but I really do think that these springs that are made especially for the car is the way to go. The handling/stability is perfect, and that seems to be an issue with cutting springs, not getting a good ride anymore. And then depending on the individual springs, it's kind of hit-n-miss as to how much cut gives how much drop. Just realized that the name of the company is actually "coil spring specialties". Well thanks! ken.
  9. Oh oh...did you find it.......interesting? ken.
  10. I have found the strangest things in oil pans. Perfectly good, running engines with a half inch of sludge, ground up bearings and valve seals, all sorts of chunks of metal, small sockets and broken tips off of screw drivers. I guess some people just put them back on after an engine has been repaired, without looking or cleaning them...?? Sometimes you might have to turn an engine over a little to get the pan back on, as the counter weights will stop it, or just the position of the crank will make it difficult. Have fun, and good luck. ken.
  11. That's what I thought! You shook their very sense of reality down to the very core.
  12. They were somewhere around $300...$325 seems to stick in my brain. A little more than what others have been discussing on the spring thread, but I'd gladly pay it again. Being able to specify amount of drop, (up to 3") and spring rate was worth a lot to me. The 10% increase in rate, with the shorter spring seems to give it the same ride or ride quality as before, but the body roll/sway seems to be less, and handling seems to be more "crisp" when you put somewhat "aggressive" steering inputs (!!!!) into it. Just handles better, but there's no harsh ride or anything like that. Again I could not be more satisfied. Again on the price, it seems like some will get a much cheaper set, but then aren't completely satisfied and wind up buying another, which is not so cheap in the long run. Or they just live with it...not good either. I'm not sure that using springs made for another vehicle, even if they give the desired drop, is a good idea...seems like a shot in the dark. Now I need to come up with reasons to drive Lumpy! ken.
  13. The fun must have really begun when you drove back to town and stopped for gas, or whatever. That would have to blow some minds. ken.
  14. Spring Specialties does springs. I just put mine in and the car handles absolutely perfectly. I specified a 10% greater spring rate over the stock springs. ken
  15. Put my Spring Specialties springs in today. 3" drop, 10% greater spring rate. How's she look? Test drive was interesting. Handling in general felt much better/improved, and the car handled well to begin with. With the car sitting level, I always had this feeling of not being able to look over the long hood very well. That is 100% improved. The car feels smaller, or "not so big" now. To top it all off, the tires don't rub on the fenders in a tight turn. Me and Lumpy are pretty happy. ken.
  16. Or to lure the raccoon to it's death. Chickens hate raccoons. k.
  17. Has anyone ever transplanted a P15 grille onto a D-24? I realize that one can MAKE anything fit, but it looks like the curves are about the same, as does the size of the "square" on both the fronts of the two cars. ? Curious minds want to know. ken.
  18. Gas is probably either stale, or it was a warmer weather "mix". Depending on the season and expected temps where the gas is used, it is more or les voltile. (I'm not sure if votile is the right word) Or it's both, stale and mixed/made for warm/hot weather. What I'm trying to say is that gas produced during and for hot weather is harder to boil, or vaporize, than that made for cold weather. Somebody help me! Yep, fill it up with some new stuff, throw in some gas treatment and Marvel Mystery oil and I bet she'll perk up. Might not hurt to put in a pinch of "stabil" after the fact. Never a bad idea to clean the gap the plugs. Feels good to get the old girls out, I'm going to change Lumpie's front springs this weekend, and start driving her more often, as spring has also sprung here. We also had a strange break in the weather in January, and I took her for a good drive at that time. Have also had a few other opportunities during the winter to take her down the road for an 6-8 mile run, so she hasn't been in total hibernation, as she normally would. Enjoy! ken
  19. Now I'm baffled. Is the baffle blocking the port, or did 54 blow it when he didn't try to blow through it....?
  20. Could have called it fishing "kit" but that might have been kind of catty. k.
  21. Very nice high quality Japanese field glasses, probably dating to the 1960's or 1950's. Forget the maker at the moment. My older brother had to go overseas on short notice once, and gave me a 1960 T-Bird he had just bought. Couple of days later I get pulled over by a motorcycle cop, and instead of asking for my driver's license, he asks me if there is any fishing gear in the trunk of the car. ?? So I open the trunk, and it's full of fishing poles. He had sold the car to my brother, and had forgotten to take his gear out of the trunk. k.
  22. Lithium (or however you spell it) grease. k.
  23. Those wheels are pretty bad...looks like there might be disc brakes underneath them. Those doors sure are badly rusted. k.
  24. Poor thing. Engine looks more recent than the rest of the....car? k.
  25. But....I don't find the stock filter hard to change....!! Take the top off, lift it out, put in the new one. ?? Lumpy loves the TLC. ken.
