  1. Here is a new PDF. I think I have all the measurements to match yours. Let me know if it works. Hope so. Serial Number Tag.pdf
  2. Looks like a great project. Will make a perfect family cruiser/hauler. V-8 Hemi and power steering - perfect. Love the old wagons. Keep us informed as it progresses.
  3. Here is a PDF I set up from the photos. Let me know the actual dimensions of the spacing, etc. and I can adjust if needed. Hope it helps. Serial Number Tag.pdf
  4. Could the black mark that appears to be another notch in the cap just be residue from the notch in the rod itself? Looks like there is a black mark on the other cap on the same end as the notch.
  5. I agree with keithb7. It looks like the bearing shells have spun. You are looking at the bearing insert not the crank shaft.
  6. That looks like it would be great but the description of it says it is for automatic transmissions only and requires offset trans cross member for Booster clearance. Can it be adapted to standard transmission applications? Has anyone done it?

    air cleaner

This is the pair I have for my Fenton dual carburetor intake. I got them with the intake and exhaust set up. Need to be re-chromed but look good now. Had a horsehair type filter medium in them that you took out and cleaned and re-oiled. Will try to find a paper element to fit if possible. I haven't seen another pair like these anywhere else.
  8. I think you can just reuse the old one. I took mine out and cleaned and repainted it. It is a little metal frame that the boot wraps around.
  9. I ran into the same problem. I took a round file and opened each of the holes up just enough to get the mount to drop in. It didn't take very much from each hole to make it work.
  10. Running up the A-post, along the roof and down the C-pillar won't work on a convertible. Hopefully someone with a convertible will respond for the correct placement.
  11. From what I found in my parts book. 14-86-40 Filler Tube - Suburban 49-52 - 1311 601. Hope this helps.
  12. I think they are the original Fenton dual intake ones. I had them re-chromed as the old chrome was falling off. They had the old horsehair filter medium (at least I think that is what it was) that you washed out and re-oiled. Will be looking for a paper filter that will fit. I found the intake, air cleaners and exhaust headers as a package deal on ebay a number of years ago. Cleaned them all up rebuilt the single carburator I had and found a matching one and rebuilt it as well.
  13. Here is a photo of the bracket and switch on my 53 Plymouth. Not the best angle but hope this helps. It was all I had in my photo file.
  14. I got these from Classic Tube. I ordered 2 sizes - 3/16" for brake lines and 5/16" for fuel lines. 5 feet of it was $4.80. Here is their web site. www.classictube.com. They are in Lancaster, NY. Phone 800-882-3711. Hope this helps.
  15. Lengthy but quite interesting. Thanks for posting.
  16. Mother Nature tolerates no defiance. 8 AM this morning in Iowa -25 degrees with wind chill of -35 to -50. High expected to be in the mid minus teens today and record lows tonight. No going out in T-shirts as frostbite is warned of in 5 minutes or less to exposed skin. Any and all projects on hold till warmer weather.
  17. I found the repair kit on Ebay. I just looked and there are some listed. Around $5.00 - $10.00.
  18. I twisted a nut off on one of mine and found this repair kit. Worked like a charm.
  19. Looks like a date stenciled on there. March 23, 1948 (3-23-48) and then the last two numbers. Could it have been something stenciled on a stack of frames that were delivered to the assembly line? I thought that the number that is stamped into the frame rail matched the engine number. I know mine does on my 53 Suburban.
  20. Looks like great fun! Enjoy and be safe. Post photos next summer
