  1. Ah, the drawings are most helpful!!! thank you!!. and The sound of nails on chalkboard is the sound i'm getting..maybe i can just adjust, but to lazy today to crawl under today . So is there a source for new pads? thanks again for your help...you have all have been great! s.
  2. Thanks for the imfo lads, my local shop said the pads were down to the metal...where can i get new pads? (if possible!) and can i swap them out in the driveway?..or do i need a lift?
  3. Hello all! My 52 stakebed truck is in need of emergency brake work, the pads are shot and it needs adjusting. I have found some e-brake pads for same era cars (all dodge/plymouth of course) will they work instead. help! the noise is driving me crazy!
  4. I painted my 52 Staked bed cab with colour matched two-staged rattlecans. available via my local autobody paint shop...The colour was a perfect match and the second stage gloss works (just) ok, not by any means show but it looks respectable..will let it all cure for a month in the sun or so then try to hand buff it all and then call it done. I used good quality rattle cans for the wheels and other black bits (bumpers etc) it it works fine..and if it gets faded or chipped i can just spray a quick touch up. The whole effect is of a well cared for garden tool.
  5. Holy! I can't even afford to look at red oak in the Calif Bay area! great price. I used Knotty Pine for my bed, then coated it in water seal, its beginning to look properly weathered now. (picts later)
  6. Thank you, i try not to let the the motor swap bug me,..but its so impure...
  7. Hello all! This is my first post and thought I would introduce myself..and more importantly, my truck. It (ok, she) is a 52 11/2 ton stake bed. I bought her a little under a year ago a few miles from my home I built a new bed, tarted up the body a bit and put on 6 new tires ($ gulp) the interior is original and in very good condition. She drives well, and its used daily for both work and pleasure (in fact its my only vehicle now). The only major drawback it has a chevy small block. The trans is a 4 speed with overdrive..not sure if its chevy or Dodge. you can find more picts Via The Hamb ( http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/album.php?albumid=36446 ) need to take some more current pictures. I live in the San Francisco/ East Bay Area and look for ward to chatting with you all. cheers samuel
