  1. I fought that battle and never liked the stiff ride and went back to stock.
  2. Don't let the shiny paint fog your vision. If you are not familiar with a P15 find some one to look for the warts. Depending on what your goal is 5K to fix it up is not unusual. Check Ebay to get in the ball park on a buying price. The good news is parts and information are available. Jim M
  3. I don't care how dry he is. He seems to be putting my order in the box as we converse. I'm amazed at how fast I get my order. He helped me sort out my Dodge/ Plymouth clutch mystery. Bedside manner be dammed, results matter. Jim M
  4. Howard, I didn't know a 49 Plymouth could look so good. Great color. Jim M
  5. As stated a parts book is your best friend. I use Andy Bernbaum and oldmoparparts.com for mechanical parts mostly. Jim M
  6. The clipons are the way to go no holes and you can adjust them to your height. Jim M
  7. 46coupeSD is right. Poison ivy has three leaves. Congratulations on a great barn find car. It looks quite complete. Jim M
  8. Years ago I converted my 50 Ply to floor shift and it worked quite well. The shift pattern was reversed much like a 4spd. I may have gotten it from JC Whitney. Jim M
  9. 46PLY, I'll PM you as my reply would be off topic Jim M Clover, SC
  10. If you want something close to original be prepared to pay $450 just for the material or find a good fabric store that sells drapery material and get the next best thing for $50. Here is my (blown) budget P15 for example. Jim M

    Newbie

That is one fine looking automobile. Welcome aboard. Jim M
  12. The Newport wiper is very well engineered. Be aware that if you have a stock radio it may not fit. I removed the bulky not working rear section and just saved the face. Jim m
  13. I removed the spot light from my P15 because it interfered with the steering. FWIW
  14. Great story. It's nice to read about a car that wasn't built from a catalogue. Jim M Clover, SC
  15. Electric gas cap would be my guess. I had one on my P-15 dealer installed in 1948. Jim M
  16. Ron, Congratulations. I can't believe you finished your car in time, it was a hulk in September. I've got to see it in the flesh. Jim Magennis
  17. May I recommend using heavy metal bracket material at least as thick as the block bracket and strong rod. Mine has developed a twist and will have to be redone. Jim M
  18. Thanks for the quick reply. Jim M
  19. I finally got a puller to check the rear brakes on my P-15. The 5-19-13 spacers were on the back side of the backing plate which I believe is wrong. The parts book seems to show the 5-19-13 spacers between the shoe and the backing plate. Can anyone verify where they go? Thanks Jim Magennis Clover,SC
  20. Don, I forgot to mention the car came to me with a '42 Dodge truck motor. I took for granted the housing was from the Plymouth because it matched the angled spout on the radiator. The picture might help. I just got a wrong clutch issue figured out. Funny how 65 years of tinkering can muddy the waters. Thanks for the reply Jim Magennis
  21. I'm having trouble sourcing a replacement thermostat housing as there are a variety of choices. If someone with a parts book could help I would appreciate it, see picture. Thanks, Jim M Clover, SC
  22. The seat material looks interesting. What is it and where did you get it? Jim M
