  1. I think the red one is going to need a starter. I will pick it up Sunday. He says the motor froze up on him after he replaced the cap and rotor. It seized when he was starting it. Was running fine.
  2. They probably do go beep , beep. Roadrunner........
  3. I I am looking for a midget pumpkin from 79 or i80 midget with 372 gears.
  4. Tim, are you saying that you have 7 Austin engines? If so do you sell parts? Also I am looking for a 79-80 MG Midget Pumpkin. Any body know someone with that?
  5. Only in the convertible so his head could stick out of the top......I know this site is for MoPars but I would hope I could still get help from you guys on these rebuilds. Still shaky on some restore areas.
  6. Yes, I was thinking of a his and hers. The do have back seats.....kinda:)
  7. Both cars are all there. The yellow has all the parts in the trunk. Both run.
  8. No:)..... I think I will stay original with these. They are both solid survivors.
  9. Went a different direction. With the money from the sale I was able to buy 2 Nash Metropolitans, a 60 Red Coupe driver and a 61 yellow restorable convertible. I still have some funds left over for repairs. You guys have been great and saved me a lot of time. Thanks.
  10. It looks like I will sell the 53 Burb. He upped the offer to 7500 cash. Too much to resist. I will begin the search for a replacement now. Thanks for all the help.
  11. I found a 55 Ford Ranch Wagon that does not have as much character but is a whole lot better shape. He wants $4600 for it. Ford 289, C4 tranny, rest of the car is original. Interior is in real good shape. He converted to 12 volt for the engine but did not convert the rest of the car. Rockers are rusted. It has the Country Squire Wood package.
  12. No, It was the big cruise on Central in Phoenix. He really wants this car. He has offered me a trade for his 50 F1. Ford Windsor 351, C4 tranny, 10 bolt Camaro Rear end, Power Brakes, Power steering, AC/heat, Under the blanket is nice bucket seats, Burlap door panels, Shaved door handles. Girl not included!!! 13. I have a 53 Ply with drum brakes all around. The car sat for over 20 years. I had the drums turned and I rebuilt the wheel cylinders . Now the problem. I have driven the car for about 250 miles since the drums were turned. I am now getting a clicking noise during braking from the passenger front drum. It is only during light to moderate braking. It goes away at heavy braking. A mechanic friend who was with me thought it was a groove in the drum that was causing the shoes to catch and snap back. Any thoughts?
  14. I pulled the distrib and replaced the points and condensor. I gauged them at .020. The distrib went back in at 230 just fine. It started up, little harder starting but ran ok at idle. It misses horribly at high rpms. Any thoughts on this one? I will check vacuum Sunday.
  15. I have a 53 218. Stock distrib, points....... I am trying to correct some timing and semi-rough engine (small backfire sometimes and soft missing). There are a few issues I have run into. I am not very good with this so maybe it is correct. I am in the process of changing the points. I have rotated the engine to #1 tdc(visual inspection of cly). The rotor is not in the 6-7 oclock position pointing towards #1. It is at 230 at #2 to #4). The engine runs at idle smoothly enough and does accelerate(with major blowby, another issue) I was also going to take the distrib out. Questions. how do you do that and I wanted to make sure the engine was lined up but the rotor is in the wrong place. At one time the rotor lined up. I cannot get timing to 2 before because there is no more adjustment. I know there is a screw underneath but it will not come loose. That is why I wanted to pull it.
  16. Does the epoxy mess with the electrical contact of the tower to the base plate? Did the epoxy hold? Is it still working?
  17. I have the manual and do take pictures. I know what goes where. I could not take a pic of this because when you take the cover off the pieces just come out. I know where the wired tower goes. I do not know how to make it stay in place when the cover is put back on.
  18. I am trying to repair a fuel sending unit. I have three and am making one work. I have them apart and found much junk in them. I have cleaned them up and now want to reassemble one. Any suggestions how they go back together? I see where the wire tower sits but it moves when you place the cover on. How do you get the tower to stay in place?
  19. I am looking for a good place to buy the parts to rebuild a 53 Plymouth 218. Any suggestions? Or looking for an extra working motor?
  20. I have been looking for something better for the price and only find 4 doors or OK 2 doors. They will still need work. Any sites that you know to look for cars? I do want to replace it if I sell it. I like having something to work on and drive.
  21. I do agree that the funds could buy a better condition car. This one runs, interior has been partially finished, brakes redone, clutch rebuilt other items finished and it does turn a lot of heads. It was quite the attraction at this show/cruise that had about 2000 cars. I have looked and cannot find running complete cars that are different. There are moredoors but I like the different types of cars. Also I cannot find cars that cheap.
  22. I have a problem I hope some of you guys can help with. I was at the largest cruise in AZ tonight and a guy offered me $6500 for my Suburban. The engine needs to be rebuilt, wiring is still cloth, rusted out in many places. I have about $4500 in it. I do not know if I would ever get that much for it even fixed up. I would take the funds and look for another project. I do not know values but it seems like a good price. It is a legit offer. He has quite a few cars. Wants this for his wife. Any thoughts?
