  1. according to what I have read here on this site for the last few months, the gas gauge will work on 12 or 6v. I have not confirmed this yet with my own gauge, but I plan to do so (use the original gauge and change it to 12v) in the hopefully near future. I have been using a remote 12v gauge that the car has installed under the ignition. I certainly hope it works.
  2. Funny you mention another P15 for fun in all weather. I have been keeping my eyes open for another, but no such other car yet. Probably a good thing since I spent all my money this past month on freaking gifts for everyone else.
  3. I too would have liked to take mine out, but there is just too much salt on the road. I thought there might be a chance after we got all that rain, but it quickly froze and they poured more salt. O-well, I'll just have to wait it out.
  4. I was just kidding. No harm meant. I am curious when Kim Kardashian is going to make her appearance though. LOL
  5. Give me a break!! Are you kidding me? This is starting to sound like one of those reality TV shows that are just too good to be true, and we find out it was all just a set up.
  6. We are expecting 5-8 " today. I'd say we have 4" now. The wife planned a family get together and she is bummed. Not sure if she should cancel. Well the snow just picked up and I haven't seen a snow plow yet today.
  7. I tried it myself once about 23 years ago. Small cycle battery. I figured I had nothing better to do at the time and just wondered what I could do. I first poured out the acid and washed out with water. Now mind you I was just a dumb kid then about 16 or 17 years old. Then I filled it with Coke a cola...once twice and I think several times before rinsing with water again. I still remember the reaction it gave. The cola turned clear every time and with every dump came out nasty junk after most of the liquid was out. Again I did this time and time again until it was just clear liquid pouring out. Then I poured distilled water in it and charged it slowly for a day. The stinking battery lasted a summer without any problem. Couldn't believe it! Would I do it again? No,, probably not. I can afford a new battery now and wouldn't mess around with taking the chance of it failing later when I'm miles away from home.
  8. Not a bad deal!!! Looks like a solid car and at $500 who cares. Good thing I haven't run onto anything like that. I'd have cars all over the place.
  9. That's a hard one. I have had the most difficult time in getting my wife to buy what I'd like without actually buying it. When she does buy something I somewhat wanted it always turns out to be the wrong one. The best advice I can give you is to simply go to the hardware store or stores and make out a list. Prioritize it but make it especially long so that she will have the chance to pick and choose. That way you will have no idea what her choice or choices were. Don't forget to write the prices and the sku # down for the correct gift. Worth a shot!
  10. I like them on certain cars. Some cars look better than others, but most 40s and 50s Plymouths look good with them in my opinion. The wind resistance was always a concern of mine though if they aren't mounted right. I had one on my 1972 Chevy Truck. It looked liked it belonged on it.
  11. what site would this be? does it have many p15 owners on it?
  12. Yes I agree with the others on the front bumper. Awesome job with it!! Very unique idea.
  13. It must have been a nice one!
  14. When dealing with Chinese stuff your going to need a dozen of them.
  15. I wondered where this thread went. Someone moved it. I just thought by chance someone did. I rarely check these other forums. Looks like ya haven't had a chance to piddle with it anyway. If ya had other things to do I'd steer you away from this scooter. The Chinese built scooters are a bit more of a hassle than they are worth. Forget getting parts for them. Hopefully you will just have a simple problem with it. I'll try to remember to check back although there are plenty of guys here that can help you trouble shoot it just as well as I can.
  16. Jim, First off tell us what make and model it is along with year and so on. I hate to say that if it's a Honda you will have no trouble at all getting it to start as I usually work with older American makes most of the time. Ya just can't beat the Japanese cycles when it comes to setting around. The first thing id do is drain that stail gas. The carb may need a cleaning, but id take the chance at just changing the gas. If this scooter is new enough it should have a drain screw at the lower end of the float bowl. It may even have a hose running to the bottom of the scooter from the bowl. If so put a pail under it and unscrew the screw so that the gas begins to exit the bowl. Flip the tank petcock to reserve and this should drain all the gas from the tank. Fill the gas tank with new fresh gas of high octane. Turn it over again! Is it firing? If not, pull the spark plug and inspect for gas. If it's wet that's a good sign the carb is doing it's job, but the spark might not be igniting. Lay the plug, still attached to the wire, on top of the head or a good ground. Turn the scooter over and inspect it for a spark. Is there spark? Report back. Darren
  17. If you would like to pursue this a little more I would find a professional body shop or detail shop. Tell them about your situation with the paint. Have the car present of course so they can look at it. Tell them you have already clay blocked the paint with no change. They might suggest, as I would, wetsanding a small inconspicuous spot with 1500 or 2000 grit and buff back to a shine. That will prove wheather anything can be done with your paint. If it turns out the way you like you could ask them what they would charge to do the whole car, or you now know what needs to be done and do it yourself. However, if its old paint it will be a lot of work, and you must be carefull not to wetsand through the paint, buff through it, or burn the edges. Just my opinion.
  18. Just return the VIN tag to the yard! That way you would have all the time in the world to remove it all. LOL
  19. Nice looking car!!!!!! Congrats!!! I love that front end. It all looks good really.
  20. If you can find an original they have better pictures and examples over the reprinted ones, although they will cost a little more. I now have both and they are a bit different.
  21. I ultimately made the choice to make my own harness just recently in fact. The thread was "headlights not working". I was having problems with my lights working, and thought I'd just replace part of the harness since it was peak driving season. However, the harness was so bad that I ended up biting the bullet and replacing it all. I made it to my specifications including turn signals, relays for headlights, a fuse block for accessories and such, and all three rear lights acting as brake lights. I'm very satisfied with my work although it did take me a while. Not really that long but it was the dead of summer, and that's when convertibles work best so it seemed to take forever. I have made my own schematic that I want to post for anyone else that might be interested, but I just haven't had the time yet. Maybe this weekend I can get the job done.
  22. Hello fellas, First, let me mention that I think a scammer has just contacted me from the wanted section. I have a ad asking for a turn signal housing under the wanted section. Do we have a member under this name? Dwain Dwain [dwaindwaindwain@hotmail.com] Hi, i am from SPAIN, do you still want to buy the on-line enquiry, i have for sale and condition Ok, i will email you photos and more information as soon as i know your interest, i have good experience in international shipping, so no problem about that, i can deliver to your door at good rate, let me know if still interested, thanks and hope to hear from you soon Regards This doesn't sound right. Secondly, I just got back from visiting Hershey for the first time. WOW!!! What a BIG swap meet. Too bad it rained for two days solid, but I got two days in before all the rain. Probably a good thing because I would have come home broke. I wished I could have seen more, but I think I just might try and do it again next year. So much to see and buy. I did score a few headlight rings and that was about it as far as Plymouth related goes. If you guys are into swap meets, you gotta do Hershey!
  23. I just fixed my horn a week ago. If someone didn't ad a 12v relay in place of the old 6v relay, be sure to do so. It took me a little bit to figure out how the ground is separated from the bits under the ring, but I did. I din't want to install it together till I understood it. The way that the ground wire is fixed to the brass T can be done in other ways if you are missing the two small pieces. Others here can explain if you need details. The Spring, the brass T and a cup washer can't be ignored though.
  24. I seen plates from all over. New York, Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, and Kentucky.
  25. It had a mechanical temperature gauge, but the wire either broke or someone cut it years ago. I'm going to Hershey next week. I'll keep an eye open for someone that has the knowledge to convert the temp gauge to and electrical reading gauge. I'm tired of looking below the key ignition to read my gas, temp and volts.
