  1. WOW! What a project. I like the looks of your car. Kinda looks gangster like...at least my interpretation of one. Lots of work there, but pictures tell that you have been on it already for some time. Welcome to the group. Lots of good guys here that will keep encouraging you to stay on task and get-er-dun. Darren
  2. Just to be clear I luckily don't have to search for a 6v as my car is converted to 12v. I did notice that 6v tachs are few and expensive if you find one. Never thought about a boat tach. I'm not a boat guy but seems most of them would be made for two cylinders, or are you referring to the boats equipped with a car engine?
  3. Hello gents, I'm thinking I'd like to find a tachometer for my Plymouth. Something period would be nice but I'm not real keen on what to look for. Done some searching on ebay, but there are so many newer contraptions out there that I don't know if they'd even work on the old girl. I'm not real stupid when it comes to this, but to be honest I've never messed with a tach because I've never had another car with a manual trans. Any direction would be great. Darren
  4. WOW!! Awesome photos with the dirt and all. It takes years to get that true barn find look and character. Thanks for sharing. So Lucky to find it so very complete too! I hope you were able to get a hold of the title.
  5. Next week they are calling for more single digit temps. I'm ready for spring!!! The bugs are dead, let's get on with it.
  6. Tom, Check out post 13 under rear axle ratio chart.
  7. I didn't know about this either. I knew they existed, but didn't really know how to acquire one or what to buy. Now I do! Thanks!
  8. I wonder if my rear end has been replaced at some point. I think someone deciphered it and told me it has 3.73, and it looks like they weren't offered until 49.
  9. Nice truck ED. I didn't know your truck looked like that. and welcome to the group newbie!!
  10. Nice!! I like it. How does it ride Don?
  11. That is a beautiful dash Bob. Is it yours? what model is it? Darren
  12. Well I know they are out there, but it's wondering when one will come along. Around here old Plymouths don't seem to survive very well. If I get a tip on one I'll be sure to let you know.
  13. Don't tell me your looking for an OD trans now Paul!
  14. Hello Jeff, I'm from the other side of Ohio. This subject has been discussed a lot in recent past. If you want to get a bunch of opinions I'd do a search in the top right corner of your screen with "Master Cylinder". It'll bring up all kinds of different threads. Are you going for the original master cylinder or the added safety of the dual master cylinder? Darren
  15. The problem with the places that do this like Z-Bart do not disclose that the wax they spray will not work on sheetmetal with previous rust. Nor do they tell you that when the rust comes back, and it will, their guarantee is only money back. A refund if you have a receipt. They will not fix the rust. Secondly the repair is about impossible to repair with all that wax in the cracks and crevices of wherever it needs repaired from rust.
  16. I made it in to work today at about 9 am. The shop was cold and neither paint booth would fire up. The first thing I did today was wet sanding with cold water. About 11 am I wished I'd just stayed home. Didn't get much accomplished until I made it home this afternoon to guess what..... snow blow my driveways. I had a drift 4'-5' deep x 20' long and another 15' wide. It took me 2 hour just to break through the drift. But my truck is free now and we now have two vehicles again. My shoulders are killing me. Can't imagine what they will feel like tomorrow. Sounds like a heat wave is coming and going top bring 21 degrees. Whoopee!!!!
  17. I like it!! How does the bottom fit to the top? He should make more and sell them!
  18. I personally think there is nothing better than oil reduced down with kerosene for small areas like rockers and inside door panels. Once the oil is reduced it will leak into the smallest crevices that paint will not, and Besides, there are very few paints that will stick without proper preparation to clean the metal. When the oil is reduced it can easily be sprayed through a weed sprayer. You should only do this after all painting is done, and let the vehicle set for several days where dripping oil will not hurt the surface the vehicle is on.
  19. Last night was windy and cold here in mid ohio. Looking at the swing set chains now, and they are almost completely horizontal. The drifting is terrible. I think if I were to blow it out it of the driveway it would be back within several minutes. I called work to see if anyone else had made it in. Just one guy made it in and he said he's stuck there now because the lot is not plowed out. Roads are terrible and many are not plowed. Sounds like It's a good day just to stay home I think.
  20. Now that's a funny joke! LOL
  21. I wouldn't mount any kind of a tow bar to a front bumper. Bumpers are very flimsy for pulling anything. If you are serious about a mount for pulling buy a mount that attaches to the frame. You could fab one up, but the cost of one already to go isn't bad compared to the time it would take to fab one up. Just my thought.
  22. Some don't always check the other forums Tim. Happy New Year Guys!!! Now to figure out some sort of resolution. Darren
  23. So a two wire fuel gauge will have two posts on the back of it?
  24. To me, the surface of the flywheel appears as if the clutch disc has made an impression on it. Leads me to believe the clutch was not disengaging. Also the flywheel has a bit of grinding showing on it from something getting too close. maybe the springs from the clutch disc.
  25. I agree that keeping the glove box open for storage purposes is nice. That is what I opted to do. I wanted a better stereo with modern convenience, and didn't want it to be open visually. I didn't want to spend a small fortune either so I made a small metal box to install it into just under the glove box. It does show, but changing the station is easily done without taking your eyes off the road. I don't think it looks too bad. Some may disagree, but I'm happy with it. It can easily be removed and disposed of or it can be modified for new technology in another 5 or so years.
