  1. Nothing special, but it's complete and not so dented I can't straighten it: http://www.ebay.com/itm/300782903492?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 Oh, and my '53 Belvedere 2 door hard top had the fender skirts in the trunk when I got it home.
  2. If it wasn't so far away I'd already have it at my place! http://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/cto/3282075374.html
  3. thanks. I sent them an inquiry. Gene
  4. You guys are costing me! Read the visor thread, went to epay, found one that'll fit my 42 Plymouth, it's bought.
  5. Allpar.com indicates this was an option for the '53. Has anyone seen one? More important, does anyone have one they want to sell? I'd even be interested in an aftermarket one if one exists. Probably pretty rare, though.
  6. There is currently a thread on whether or not you like visors. I do, and would like to put one on my 53 Belvedere 2dr HT. It's the first year of a single piece windshield. All the visors I've seen have the center clamp that grabs the divider. Did the make them for single piece windshields? I can find plenty set up for 2 piece windshields. I've got the fender skirts, guess I need the fuzzy dice and spotlights.
  7. Let's see. Choices: School bus ran a red light and hit 6 cars. Or: 6 cars ran a red light and all hit a school bus. What are the odd? Good luck.
  8. Also, if you post your location you never know what might be close and show up to help your project.
  9. There plenty of used motors around with good cranks for maybe $100 up. add a crankshaft grind for about $125 and you're still way ahead. But the same $125 should put your crank in good shape. Keep in mind that your current engine will have much more power when fresh. Shave the head and add a couple more hp.
  10. I should have looked at the speedo more while we were driving but never thought about it. If I planned to keep it for eternity I'd have bid a lot more, but I'd like to drive one for a year or two and break even moving along to another. I just didn't see it at the selling price. Gene
  11. I went to look it over, took it for a drive. Had a few issues like some rust in the back side of the rockers, some of the paint wasn't as good as it should have been, bondo on the fenders (owner didn't realize it, but smooth on the outside, wavy on the inside says bondo!), only oil pressure gauge worked, all needed restoring, modern drive shaft, replacement gas tank, and a little more. It would have made a nice driver, but really needed a restoration (even though someone thought they already paid for one!) to be a show car. I went $17K, car sold for $20400.
  12. I doubt they still make any, but they are around. I sold one to another member about a year ago.
  13. Pieces are cut, they'll be at UPS in about an hour. I cut off all the junk, like tail light mounts and angles, that had been welded on, but you'll have to do a little more cleanup grinding on them. As I mentioned, they came off the 49 3/4 ton, same dimensions, but not nearly as rusted. I was afraid the 53 frame was rusted too thin to be any good. This one has a bit of rust, but the original surface is mostly still there. Good luck. Gene
  14. Sure Tim, but if that was all we were worried about we'd just go down to the dealer and buy any number of small cheap cars and get all that and great mileage to boot! It's just cooler to look under the hood and find something like that. I'd rather have my old flathead 6 than a late model SMPFI engine - not even sure what this is, but it doesn't sound too cool. Anyway, just my opinion.
  15. You guys wanting to up grade might be interested in this: http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/3216349184.html
  16. Ran across this. Trying to restrain myself. Don't need another car. Trying ..... http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/cto/3261588134.html
  17. I've got a 49 3/4 ton and a 53 b3b, I'd be glad to cut the ends off of either and send to you, just pay shipping. The only downside is it'll be about 4 weeks till I can do it unless I know by tomorrow noonish or so. We're leaving for 3 weeks. If you want to just pm or reply here. Gene Central Mo
  18. That is sure closer - is there a place to leave it? I occasionally get up that way and may find someone to get it on down sooner. A couple years ago I transported a 1911 Evinrude from Near St. Louis to Indi, someone there took it to northern Michigan, then the buyer in Canada came across and carried it home. Some of our toys tour more than we do!
  19. ggdad1951 was so kind as to pull a door I need for my panel truck. Now it's at his place in Eagan, MN. I'm hoping to find someone heading from that area to Central MO, or at least closer, who might not mind giving it a ride. I guess the time constraint is however long he can stand to have my junk in his shop. Along the same lines, I'm heading from central Missouri to the Texas coast via I-35 to Austin this weekend. If anything needs a ride along that route hollar quick! Could even be a car if you let me know soon enough to hook up the trailer. As of now, I'm only hauling a '57 35 hp outboard motor. I'll be coming back in about 3 weeks.
  20. thanks Bob. Problem solved. Gene
  21. Probably, if the shaft is 3/4". If it is, please send me a PM or post here and I'll buy it from you. Thanks, Gene Gruender
  22. Nobody has a nut off an old steering column? Let's help this old fellow get his car back on the road.
  23. I have an older neighbor who broke the nut on his steering wheel on his 49 Dodge car. His is 3/4" thread and my spare truck ones I have are 5/8" He's looked everywhere around here and hasn't found one. Would someone have one they could spare? We're in central Missouri.
  24. What I learned from all my boat work is that carnuba wax is great for cars, it just doesn't last but a few weeks. If you're going to wax it frequently, it'll be fine, but if you only want to do it once or twice a season like a boat, a different type of wax might serve you better. At this point I won't recommend what wax, as I'm more familiar with boat waxes and that probably isn't the best choice either.
