  1. Welcome! Lots of knowledge here. Pictures are always appreciated.
  2. Another thing to check is the amount of sludge in the block. When you open the drain valve on the block does it drain? Some of these engines have leftover sand from the casting process. When mine was torn down the amount of crap that came out was amazing. Check each component and you’ll solve the problem.
  3. When adjusted properly it’s very effective. It has to be on fluid drive equipped cars. Yours may need new lining. Clean and adjust and see if it helps.
  4. I’m pretty sure you shouldn’t leave the grease fittings in the axle. I believe there is interference. That’s why plugs are there instead of fittings. I remove the plug and press grease in by hand.
  5. Welcome! You’re in the right place. Lots of knowledge here.
  6. Semi auto trans? I didn’t watch the video yet since I’d never be able to hear it at work but a drop in oil pressure while at a stop in gear is normal as long as it’s not a big drop. It shouldn’t stall though.
  7. Thanks
  8. Is the bell housing inspection cover able to be removed without pulling the trans? I want to check an oil leak at the rear of the engine on my 52 Coronet.
  9. Lol. Never thought of that. That’s easy to find.
  10. Dodgeb4ya that’s it. What is it called? I have an old engine analyzer that I haven’t used yet. I’m getting ready to do a tuneup and I’d like to see if it works.
  11. Seems different. What I remember was a coil spring where one end attached to the plug and the other fit into the plug wire. It left enough exposed metal to attach a clip between the plug and wire. If need be I’ll cut the boot off an extra wire and use it for any tests.
  12. I’m looking for something I’ve used in the past but I can’t remember what it’s called. It’s a spring looking connector that goes between a plug wire and the plug. It allows you to connect an alligator clip from an analyzer. It’s hard to find something without the correct name.
  13. I use AW32 hydraulic oil in the gyromatic trans. I’ve not opened the fluid drive unit so I defer to other members of the forum with experience.
  14. I used a Daytona kit on my Stromberg with that design. No problem. You will need an adapter to connect your fuel line to the seat. I used a 90 degree fitting. 1/8-27 pipe thread on the male end and inverted flare female end. A straight adapter didn’t give me enough room next to the heater box (52 Coronet). The Daytona kit is ethanol resistant. I’m not sure if that explains the design of the needle and seat.
  15. I received new sun visors for my 52 Coronet for Christmas. How do I install them? Do I just pull them off the rod and install the new ones? Any help is appreciated.
  16. Thanks for the information. I’ll keep it tucked away in case I need that service.
  17. I’ll check the filter. It’s probably due for a change anyway. The problem started after I filed and readjusted the points. I thought I may have caused the problem but I’m not sure how.
  18. I have a hesitation at higher rpm’s. Plugs are good. Timing is correct. Checked points gap and dwell. Both good. No problems at speeds below 50. What else can I check?
  19. Before spending that much money on rebuild kits I’d recommend buying new boots and try disassembly and regreasing. It’s easy and it may cure the problem.
  20. I have a 52 coronet and I run 225/75-15’s. My speedometer is accurate. I’m running 15x7 police wheels so I’m not sure that tire fits the stock wheel.
  21. I thought some of the aftermarket suppliers offered various widths and backspacing. Wheel Vintiques perhaps?
  22. Joey Jessor in Akron Ohio if he is still in business.
  23. Of course I’m still not sure how to drain and refill should I ever decide to. I’m going to at least do a slippage test and perhaps top off the unit. I’m inclined to agree with James Douglas about these units. He’s done more research than anyone I know. New fluid can’t be a bad thing. I do however know my mechanical limitations.
  24. Thanks
  25. Just out of curiosity does anyone know what size magnetic socket for the fill plug on the fluid drive unit? I’d like to at least check if it needs topped off.
