  1. My brother learned that the light weight multi grade oil leaks out a LOT faster then straight 30w does......
  2. I also am a little confused, is it an R-6 out of a mid-late 30's Chrysler or Desoto? Those were floor shifts, or is it a ford unit that someone adapted to an early trans? A picture would be beneficial.
  3. Ford areostar progressive rate coil springs! Best stock looking upgrade that I should have done 10 years ago, plus I bought mine for $30
  4. Weren't those rings called Ascot wheel covers? Or something like that, I have a nos set somewhere but their 15 inch
  5. Least there's a good chance the 14/15 year old kids are insured, I've never met an adult immigrant worker yet with insurance. But I don't get out much anymore and I'm certain it's changed a lot in the last two years.
  6. I had an Agreed value policy on each of my classics with State Farm, no special policy just an agreed value. I was paying extra for the agreed value policy but didn't mind because I knew if something were to happen I had an agreed value policy with State Farm and they had agreed to give me the agreed value if there was a total loss. 10 years later a guy pulls out in front of the 1940 and I hit him hard and "total" my car. His insurance company offers 2k for the car because its old. I told progressive where to shove it and called up State Farm and tell them it's been totaled and send me the money we both agreed to 10 years ago when I put the agreed value policy on the car. thats when I was informed that State Farm agreed value policies do not work that way, they have to send an adjuster out to determine the value of the car so they can give you a check for the amount that the car is actually worth and not the amount I said it was worth that we entered into an agreement on when I started the agreed value policy. To say the least I was very upset. Ended up getting some legal advice and got bent over by progressive on the car value and then returned the favor to them when it came to my wife's injury clam from the crash, and then kicked State Farm to the curb and found a company that understands an agreed value policy and honors their end of the agreement.
  7. deleted a redundant post that my "smart" phone added
  8. Hagerty came out on top? They were $550 higher then Grundy for identical policies on my three cars. I switched from State Farm to Grundy January first of this year and saved a bundle! Like $750 and got a better policy.
  9. I'm glad to hear it worked out for you, thanks again!
  10. Just out of curiosity, why do you have "no intentions" of an od trans? You keep your stock ratios for starting off and have 33% over on your top end. I've ran mine at 80mph all day from Iowa to California with the od and a 3.73 rear. For bolt on speed it's about the easiest option in my opinion, you dont have to pay market value for one if your willing to put a little work into finding one
  11. Like Todfitch was suggesting you might look for an older overdrive transmission, i picked up a R6 overdrive transmission out of a 1939 Chrysler, it had the top cover that converted it to a column shift. A 1936 Plymouth floor shift tower bolts on if you swap the forks.
  12. I'd think there'd be a slight interference issue with trying to mount that shifter to a transmission with and overdrive

  20. I was able to just swap out the gears in my 1940 housing with an assumed mid 50's 3.73 ratio. It had 10 spline axle shaft receivers and it all bolted up really easy 50k miles ago. I recently acquired a 3.54 third member out of a 55 dodge, i will install it eventually but i first have to change the shaft receivers from 16 spline to 10
  21. I just bought a cable off ebay when i swapped in the two barrel carb. I repurposed a spare original throttle linkage mount and made the other.
  22. I'd buy it at $900, sling the od for a grand, ebay the nickle and dime stuff, and scrap the carcass for a couple hundred bucks. Or do what I usually do, store any and every somewhat decent part even though it doesn't fit any of my current cars.
  23. 1940 is the summer dd, 1986 K30 is tow/winter dd, and the 55 belvedere is potentially another summer dd when/if i get it running
  24. He brought it out to the Des Moines concourse de elegance last year. The car is immaculate
