The fuel line is not in the car. The fuel tank is above the engine, part of the frame. An interesting idea, but such as it is. 

I found this on the web. I did not haul it on my truck, too bulky and too heavy. I returned with a trailer. I note that was four years ago. Proof that the gestation period of hobby cars is indeterminable. 
 

Current status, nearly ready to drive.

I have decided to post only when I finish a project.  I wired the tail lights this morning. They are quite bright, but I sant to be seen. The sportster is quite small so safety is key  

I hooked up the head lights this morning. Dimmer switch works do have high and low beams.  Will ground the tail lights next and they will be done. Wiring is tricky for an old man,   

Update: I can now work in the shop for about five (5( hours, a huge improvement. I’m working on my sportster, maybe a driver by the end of the week. These are my bed rails, from oak, stained with clear coat.

It is time to get the sportster into its own post. I bought this some years ago to be a project for my grandson and myself. I paid $10 for it and $70 fuel to haul it home. I thought it would be a quick and easy project. Sound familiar. Photo is current status.

I bought a lifetime pass for $20 some ten years ago. I had it in my billfold,(mistake) and lost my billfold. “Ops, there goes a million dollar dam”. 

The Sequoia park pass is $35 but the annual any and all park pass only costs $20. Figure that on out. I bought the annual pass. 

Tuesday or beyond will work. Our primary task will be to install and start the engine. If I can weld the tunnel and get to the brakes, then maybe we can go for a ride.  Will be a lot of fun to drive our two kit cars to some outing, maybe we can go to the big trees in Sequoia National Park.

Pflaming update: I’ve been in my shop every day this week, mostly about 3 hrs a time. I’m working on my sportster, The electrical took some time but is now in the tidying state.  Today i installed the transmission, Monday likely the engine.  

This one i have never seen. Interesting.

The glue application did NOT hold.l So need a good weld then a new tunnel plate also welded in. Maybe this week. I’m slowly making progress, not easy for me anymore.  So I done one or two things each day. 

The news of my demise is greatly exaggerated.  I’m still active but much slower. I gto bit by a tick in Maine last may and ended up with lyme infection.  Today I’m about 30% of what I was 18 months ago. The two big issues are chronic fatigue and very low energy level. I now get in about 3 hrs of shop time per day and if that is highly strenuous then Im down for a day.  But I’m slowly gaining and will try’ to finish and sell what I have except the truck.   My best to all of you.  PF

Mine has a lot of history  First I dicoverd the original paint was solid so i kept it. Was a beautiful truck, then it was toasted in my shop fire so I cleaned it  again and covers it with clear satin. But that is not holding well.  I like patina, all flat, go slow.

EMPI is a kit body on a VW pan (frame). I bought this as a project with my grandson, he was not interested, so I built it for me. I paid $10 for the frame, without a rear axle and engine. 

I read where metal bonding is stronger than a weld, so ‘glued’ a plate over the break in my EMPI frame. If this is a mistake, I can still weld.

I have enjoyed this post.  All the different bikes, fun to learn about them. I grew up on pones, so i”m a horse person.

Who, still vertical, can top this?  I grew up sans electricity, radio, roads, toilet paper.  My uncles rolled their own,, brewed their own, drove model A cars. Most today doesn’t even remember black / white TV.
