  1. Got this for Christmas. It was found on a creek bed north of Indianapolis, Indiana. Any suggestions on make, model, year?
  2. Got this for christmas from my soninlaw. He found it on the bank of a creek north of Indianapolis, Indiana. Any suggestions of make, model, year?
  3. Will the assembly work on Pilot-house B Series?
  4. I found it interesting that welding work is less physical than automechanical. I would have thought it would be the other way. An I do see signs all up and down the freeway for welders. I always liked welding because it always gave me a sense of accomplishment and I could control the quality of a weld. Sold a machine for a manufacturer. He never covered his welds, painted or powdercoated them, I asked why no bondo, his answer: "There are few things that say quality like good welds! Never hide the quality of your work!"
  5. When looking at further education look at what you would like to do and CAN physically do when you are above age 50. You can always build a truck but what can you do if your eyes go dimmer? Good luck more education of anykind is always beneficial.
  6. It must be a real thrill to take a truck you rebuilt out on the road. Makes me green with envy. This fall my wife and I took in our son and his two children, transition, and so my priorities in several areas changed. Congradulations!!!!!!!!!!
  7. I would like to have the grill you took out. Looks nice!
  8. Nice tan color: I prefer the '52 fenders they co-ordinate with the frontwheel well flair. The blue truck has the fenders painted black. That is the first time I have seen that. I like that and think I might do that even if I stay 'original paint'. Both are very nice looking trucks.
  9. Greybeard: Taping and exacto cutting is not that difficult. I got a good 'thin' grade of masking tape so that I could finger press the edges very tight and so I could really feel the edge of the letter(s). Then i took a good sharp point ball point pen and very carefully followed the letter's edge. THEN I used the blade. It followed the pen groove very nicely and gave me a nice clean edge. Try it on one letter and use a kid's water based paint. You may surprise yourself. If you don't like the results just wash off the paint. In the thumbnails the second cap had not yet been polished. Wanted to see if there was a difference, it cleaned up like the one on the left. I am very pleased with the results. PF
  10. 48 CHrashler: That maroon coupe is just fantastic! The chopped and lowered one is great also. Great imagination. The plymouth front end on the pilot house is interesting. Maybe a 47 front end on a 47 truck or a 53 ply on a pilot-house.
  11. Wondering, is it possible to put car fenders, grill, hood, (doghouse) on a Pilot-house? Don't know if I would want to but just curious?
  12. The business coupe is looking good. In a sense the business coupe is so ugly it is good looking. Looking forward to seeing it finished?
  13. Great maroon rims. It really a bit hard to make a pilot-house look bad! I am getting a bit partial to the sunvisor. May need one someday, but got to get mine on the road first.
  14. In Western Nebraska we got our carp out of the Platte river. We fried them on an old plank then threw the carp away and ate the plank!
  15. Really like the spare up there, going to do the same thing, good work. I agree black wheels will look better. You might get some red tape and tape one wheel red to match the door logo. Red might look good too. See you at the BBQ? Paul
  16. You might consider painting the letters, let them thoroughly dry, tape over them then with masking tape. Then very carefully with a very sharp exacto knife remove the excess tape so the letters are covered. Now paint the gate when that paint is very dry remove the tape. or reverse the process paint the gate cut out the letters and paint them. That is what I did on my hubcaps.
  17. What other material(s) besides this 'cardboard' type of material, for the interiors on truck cabs? I realize this is the original way but other ideas would be appreciated.
  18. Found this through google: Chrysler's tank engine, combined five Chrysler six-cylinder, passenger-car engines on a single gear casing. It displaced 1,253 cubic inches, and put out 445 horsepower. The 30-cylinder engine placed its No. 1 engine in a normal vertical position, Nos. 2 and 5 at a 45-degree angle on either side of the vertical block and Nos. 3 and 4 at slightly less than a 90-degree angle below vertical. Chrysler called it a "Multibank" engine, while the military officially called it the A-57. The five engines were geared together and operated as a single unit. This was done by bolting a gear to the "clutch" end of each of the five crankshafts. These five gears then meshed with and drove a center power unit "driven gear" which, in turn, propelled the tank. Each engine had its own carburetor, coil and distributor, and later moved from five to a single water pump. Only one fuel pump, generator and starter was required.
  19. Frankie, I live in California, some don't use TIRES!
  20. I stand corrected, do not know all the codes. Any indication of the horse power on the 5 x 6L? I wonder what it sounds like? Must be different than most any other engine.
  21. Looked up the Sherman Tank on Google. Below is engine horsepower. No mention of the stacked five L6 engine in this article. The Sherman tank was in use in milataries around the world into the 1970's. Engine Engine: 400 hp Continental R975-C1 (Gasoline) Range: 120 miles Speed: 24 mph
  22. Others may have seen it out front, but I suddenly saw that this is a rotary stack of five (5) L6 engines. Amazing! That would be about 500 HP. Question: Does the actual result total more than the sum of its parts? OR what hp did it actually achieve. Another question. Would if keep running if one or more engines quit? I will take my answers on the 'forum'.
  23. I like the pinstriping on the bed sides. Did you notice that he has a luxury ring on the front wheel but not on the rear one. Also this truck has the same wood rack as the $41,000 truck. Nice truck, not sure about the read wheels but that is taste not criticism.
  24. The 'rare' part is the price. I also noticed the non-stock mirrors and the chrome bumpers???? I doubt they were available, but then maybe so and I figured the little chrome strips were 'add ons' They do look good. It is a beautiful truck but just a bit 'prissy' for my taste. A truck is still a truck!!!
