  1. We had a mullberry tree in Nebraska when I was a kid. Mom mixed the mullberries with rhubarb, now that is good eatin also. My wife mixes any kind of berry with rhubarb, have you wives try on, takes a pie or two to get the ratio but it is worth it. Add a scoup of ice cream!!!!!!!!:)
  2. Did you notice, the firetruck was a TANKER! The driver was possibly illegally delivering COORS BEER!
  3. I learned the hard way that a seriously oxidized exterior can be brought back to life, I used a sander and took it past the original paint. What you did is commendable. Good work!
  4. In looking at Bud's truck and especially the chopped top, if were to choose between an expensive paint job and a nice chopped top and a 'Maco' paint job, I would go Maco with the paint. I really like the look of the Pilot-house as is but that is one modification that I especially like. Looking forward to Bud's final product. Bud I hope you do not use the same color you used on the Plymouth. Question: What is the going price on a chopped top? Request: Any pictures of other chopped tops on the forum?
  5. To me the grill (good or bad) isn't the issue. To my eye you have done a fantastic piece of work on your truck including the grill. What I like about trucks is the creativity (thats that issue). A John Deere is always green and yellow, but trucks one never knows. I like what you are doing and like others are watching for the final result. Keep up the good work, you are an asset and an inspiration to all.
  6. Truck looks great! I'm reserving judgement on the grill until it is finished and the bumper is on. I like the stock horizontal grill, it makes a tall truck look wider, but you have done a nice piece of work fitting it in. I've wondered if a modern Dodge grill could be fitted in, I think that might look good. Maybe someone who can 'doctor' up a picture can put a new grill in. Question: Is the pilot-house taller than the Chevy or Ford pick-ups?
  7. I am in Maine for the summer. There is a Dodge milatary truck like the green one in the above post. It is dent-less. He wants $5,000 for it. I think he will have it for a long time. Nice out here.
  8. Some mechanics used condoms to 'bandage' a cut finger, so don't get too personal.
  9. Great wooden rails, I like the tool box, and that is a nice rear bumper. Where did you find that or did you make it? It is a beautiful truck, good job!
  10. 95% will admire the car, the other 5% don't count. I wish it were mine or one like it. Question: What is the 'rusty red' car under the tree in the background?
  11. WOW! I like the earlier fenders on the bed, to me they conform better to the front fender raised edge. This is a more modern look and looks great as well, I just have a preference. Glad the turn signals are gone. Are you going to use a stock grill. Color? I really like the chopped top on the pilot-house.
  12. Paid $250 for this and it did not have an engine. It has the original wheels, hub caps, and tires. I thought I had a bargain, but it was just a good buy. Pleased.
  13. Wow! For that price the only reason one would fix one up would be to have a restored one and to be able to say 'I did it"!
  14. Reg: Wow! For those prices the only reason one would fix one up would be to say he did!
  15. In a recent post, a very nice black Dodge truck was for sale @ $2,500. The truck was in WI. If that price was valid that was a good buy. These Pilot-house trucks should be worth more than that. Was that a fluke or was that the beginning price?
  16. Maybe a tree fell on it! Ought to donate it to Washington D.C. for BO!! He's cutting the 'top' out of everything else!
  17. Sorta figured that when I counted six buttons!
  18. Is this the radio? I think it says "Motorrola! HMMMMM!
  19. I tore out my old wood, took a hand grinder to the bolts like others did. Took five minutes, less time then it will take to weld bolts. You will use new bolts anyway. But each to his own! Have fun!
  20. Reg, thanks for the answer, that was what I thought. OT My wife and I are going to Maine, just north of Portland, for the summer. Have a son and his family there so will go and spend time near them, it will be a nice change. When I return will get back to my truck. If your $200 P24 engine is still around I may use that as a good excuse to come to your place and meet you. Like many others we really appreciate the good information you so willingly share. Thank you!
  21. The grill says '52-'53, the dash says '48-'51, the doors? The spokesman for the truck said 48 - 50. So I guess the dash is the only unbolt on item and is probably the defining item. Usually trucks out here are rust free, this one is not. With the windows out, it could have been a mountain truck with snow in the cab for a long time or a coastal truck. Whatever, it is very close to junk in my opinion. The radio caught my eye, is that a hard to find radio?
  22. Reg, what is the difference between a P 24 engine and a B3B engine?
  23. That is a NEW car! What does a restoration / modification like that cost? It sure is a beauty!
  24. Found this along the road. Wants $500. Floor, door corners and cab are all rusted out, windows are all gone, grill is bent, engine supposedly runs! Bed and hood exist. Found east side of Fresno CA. I didn't make any offers!
