  1. So would I, but it is common in the central valley. That one is about normal, could have shown some Chevy's with much more. I would guess there were 150 cars at the meet. These were the only Mopars! Met a fellow with a very nice 48 Ford F100 who lives in the country. He met someone hauling a 48 Pilot-house on a trailer, turned around and asked where he was taking the truck. Reply: To the smasher! After a friendly conversation the truck missing only the motor and tranny was hauled to this fellow's yard. He got the truck FREE!. Truck is dentless with a stainless steel grill and corner windows. Some have all the luck.
  2. 38 Ply, 51 tudor, 47 sedan, 51 hard top. I'm not certain about the exact year. Nice cars at Central Calif car show.
  3. It seems to me, and I am a novice at all this, that the term "Classic" is and will always be driven by magazine ads. Open up a "Classic Truck" magazine and nearly all articles are 'pushing' one or more ADS. The point is, if the MAGAZINE can figure a way to call a vehical a classic, it will generate sales, which is what drives it all. Just my two cents worth. 20 Years is 1989!!! Not a classic year in my way of thinking.
  4. I think I am going to cut and paste all these 'dads / sons' stores to one page and send them to my sons who have sons. Like others, my dad WORKED me and my brother and I decided not to do that with my sons. BAD MISTAKE! My oldest son learned it on his own and now I am working with my youngest (33) to teach him so he can teach his son. In tough times the tough get creative. Lawsuits aside, people still need help.
  5. Your 14 year old son is only 2 years from driving. My daughter took my old 64 Dodge pickup to Santa Barbara, CA to college. Guess who took the kids to the beach? My son had a 66 Ford Fastback in the same college. No one noticed the BMW's and Mercedes but they noticed his '66. You have a perfect car for him: Won't go very fast, without A/C they won't go very far and it's paid for. NOW: get HIM some mowing jobs and have him pay for the upkeep and gas. It will be the best think you will ever teach him. Good Luck. The only problem will be the girls that will hang around!
  6. You are referencing "Frankenstein", Mary Shelley. That is called galvinism, didnot know there were literary folk on this forum, nice to know. Yet you may be correct, maybe that is what the grill is for!
  7. Makes one wonder what his girl friend looks like and what his favorite drink is?
  8. I think both are Model T's or A's. Saw them side by side with the 'pt cruser' at a reststop in New Hamphire. Sorry these are not Mopar but they are NICE to behold and different.
  9. The one looks like a modified PT Cruiser. The blue truck I think is a Military Dodge. Am I correct?
  10. "Nash Motors was founded in 1916 by former General Motors president Charles W. Nash who acquired the Thomas B. Jeffery Company. Jeffery's best known automobile was the Rambler. Nash enjoyed decades of success by marketing mid-priced cars for middle class buyers." Got this from Google. The history and innovations of Nash / Rambler are very interesting. My hunch was right about a Nash/GM connection, but I did not realize it was this close.
  11. Nash designed the first fresh air heater, possilby patented it. I believe they traded with GM. GM could use the heater, Nash got the Automatic tranny. Rambler (Nash) was the first car to have curved door windows in 1959, and as mentioned the first with the unibody design. They had a very good car but in some ways too advanced in other ways a bit off the wall in design. Something tells me a lot of their parts were GM, not sure about that. I had a 1960 Rambler two-door with a continental kit as standard equipment. Bought it because of the heater. Lived in Kansas and had a baby daughter. Good car. Clean it up, a lot of folk will tell you great stories, write them down. Good Buy!
  12. There is a Mopar collector NW of Augusta, ME. Going up there tomorrow and try to find him. Does anyone have any specifics on him? :)Went to "Golden Oldies" auto sales in Freeport, ME to day. They have a 47 plymouth woodie, and a nice 49 Plymouth tudor sedan. Lots of other cars as well. I think they have a web site with a galaxie of pictures. He has some really nice automobiles most of them '60's a below.
  13. There is a Mopar collector NW of Augusta, ME. I am going up there and try to find him. Does anyone have more specific information.
  14. I like the individ creativity that happens in old truck-car 'restoration/rebulding'. I would use black tires and a touch of red and level the truck by lowering the back, but that is me. It is a great looking truck just as it is. OT: On a side note, my brother just found the 1935 D John Deere that our father owned. I have two brothers so we purchased it, will truck it to CA and get it running again.
  15. There is a 75 Comet (Ford) out here in Maine. AT, PS, Fenderskirts, 6 cyl, Continental kit, two-tone red and white, WW. It only has 44,000 miles. Price $1,800. Maybe this is what the 'looker' needs.
  16. That is a very nice gray color. Does it have an exact name?
  17. #1 '50 Plymouth fastback; #2 '71 Plymouth Fury III, # 3, ' 68 Dodge 1/2 ton, #4, ' 95 Chrysler Cirrus, # 5, '52 Dodge 1/2 ton. All good vehicals.
  18. I saw a Chrysler like that in Bath, ME two weeks ago. A mechanic who repairs only OLD cars has it. It is all original with only 48,000 miles on it. He wants $14,000.00 for it. It has fluid drive with overdrive. Nice car. He said he drives it periodically to keep all things lubed. Forgot my connecting cable from the camera to the computer or I would have taken a picture. If someone is interested I will borrow a camera and get one.
  19. My wife and I have been in Maine since June 3rd. Temp today got to about 75 for about an hour, been wet and cool, nice change from Fresno, CA where a friend there said it was 107 and climbing for the next week! Gonna stay here a while. Nice, great Haddock sandwiches and even better deep fried oysters. I'm not too crazy about the lobster.
  20. My dad welded a 12" cube, filled it with metal filings from the blacksmith shop, then mounted it up where the spare tire should/ would be. That gave him a better ride, better traction, and was not in the way. FWIT (for what it's worth). So the trucks do not ride like the cars? Don travels all the time in his vert. Maybe put car spring in.
  21. Would like to see someone photoshop a two tone with only the very top in a different color. The area that starts just below the windows. On a coupe that might give a 'convertable' look. Then go light green on the bottom and deep green or soft black on the top. Or to keep Frankie happy use Texas A & M colors, witch are cream and wimpy red!
  22. This is the first time I have seen the rear fenders painted black with the running board and with black wheels. I like the look. Nice maroon color.
  23. I have a privage message from a name I do not know and who is not on the member list. Above each letter is some Arabic symbol or at least that is what it looks like. I did NOT open the message. Any suggestions!
  24. Saw what appeared to be 39/41 chevy 1/2 ton, really nice. Went up close and it had a 39/41 Pontiac grill and hood with the indian hood ornament. Took a pic with my cell phone but cannot down load it. Did Pontiac build a truck or soppose someone put Pontiac fenders, etc. on a chevy?
