reading the treads this AM. I had vinel lettering made for my 53 tail gate. sets on top of the letters and looks pretty good. I can't paint as good as the vinel lettering looks. Clean lines.

Will get more picturs when the weather is much nicer out and I have the radio in next week along with the lettering. bigmel

Many thanks for all who assisted in info and parts for this winters build of a 53 on a 89 dakota sports 4x4 drive train with all the 89 had. P/S P/B A/C, tilt , cruse. All I need now is a radio, floor matt, some lettering on the tail gate and on the road we go. Went on the first legal road test last night and it done just fine. Many thanks Bigmel

Trying to finish this Build and am in need of either a Darn good door lock assemble or just some door lock key blanks so I can finish up this build. I ahve three door lock cylinders and the lock smith seems not to be able to find replacement keys for them that will work. I sure could use some guidence. Many thanks bigmel

I have the 53 4B 90% built and will be offering parts from 3 trucks for sell as one lot. I have 3 frames/2 cabs/ complete engine and trans/ good radiator/ fuel tank. 2 beds tall and short/ two hoods/ 2 sets of the flat rear fenders/ 4 doors two that have been worked on and are in primer. The lot is parts from 3 trucks I have used to build one. I will not be keeping all these parts around so will be selling all as one lot. I do have some pictures of what I do have and could make more to view. Send me an email address and I will try to get you pictures. One could build one truck from all these parts and have some extra. I hope to have them on CRAIGSLIST by the end of this month. Any one interested can get a leep on this deal. All I care to do is recover what they have cost me to get. what disign wiper pivios came on the 53. Is the vacuum piviot differ from the electric piviots. Or is as simple as old design verses new design of the pop on wiper arm over the screw down style? Installing a Newport electric wiper motor on this build and having problem with the piviots. The piviots I have all have the arms attachted to the piviot. and are not removable like the ones I see on ebay. any help.

research so far has come up with a unit from Oldairproducts.com with a reply. Looks like there cap-400lhc is supposed to work. Add the ug-400 defrost adapator. for around a grand. I ordered a catalog from them so will have to wait and see. Thanks so for for all the info.

has any one used a under dash heat and a/c unit on there pilothouse that works? thanks big mel

I am using a 89 112 wbase 4x4 to set my 53 on. I am not changing the wheel base to fit the 108 w base. I am using the 53 rear fenders and the running boards from 52 on back which are about 64 inches instead on 60 ". Putting the 53 fenders over the rear wheels ( centered over) makes it futher back then original but will look more correct. will post pictures later when mark up is done. This is my way of correcting a 4 inch difference in wheel base. cutting the frame and shortning it I choose not to do. SO far it all looks good. Good luck.

Can any one tell me the best fittting brake pedal ***. and brake booster to use on this 53 4b cab. Took all from a 73 nova and this 89 dakota. Hope there is a better fitting combo. many thanks for the help.

Found two dakotas 89 4x4/ 87 long bed 2 wd. Stripped the body off the 89 this week and have a cab and ft fenders from a 51? ready to mark up to the 89. see attachment Guess will stay all DODGE. Will try and learn how to add pictures to show progress on this winter build.

What is the tracking width on these trucks. seems like the Dakota is pretty much the same???? What about a K member out of a GM For X body !!!! Melvin

I have no pictures of them. I am taking a 51 apart this week that has mounts on it so will be able to see what they look like. Looks like the 67 to 80 chevy mounts may work. Striping trucks to find thye best parts for this build. hope to have the cab at the blasters this week? Thanks for the replies. Melvin

I am still looking for a right side window channel for a 53 4b single window. The part that attached the window to the regulator. A complete window would be just FINE. HELP

I have a 1953 Dodge 4B truck for sale. I have a current black tag for it. I dissembled the whole truck to rebuild but have decided to sale it. The engine does turn over by hand. It does need a couple of parts to have a complete truck. The cab need three areas that need patched other is in good shape. I can send pictures on request only.
