  1. Tim and Jim. Did you guys meet up at the show? Any photos?
  2. Finally ! My simple little 2 hour job that turned to crap. 1 month later I'm ready to install a good exhaust manifold on Pearl, the 40 Plymouth with the cracked and very stuck exhaust manifold. With a friends help I ended up having to drill holes in the top of the manifold over the 2 long studs so the tip of a torch could reach in there and heat up the stuck area. Lots of big crow bars and destroyed studs but it's off now. What a somabich !!!! YAHOO...on the road again today!
  3. I won't be able to go this year. Inlaws are coming for the weekend. Poo! Take lots of pictures !!! Here we are last year at the show. Ole Yeller was the only Pilot House there and got lots of attention. My brother was a little disturbed cause no one was looking at his red 49 Ford. Some other photos at the show. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v154/olddodges1/Plymouth%20show%2006/
  4. I asked the seller to elaborate a little mor on what had been done on the engine. Here's what he said. "Reg, the block was bored .030 with new piston, rings, rod, main and cam brgs, c/s was machined tp .010-.010, new oil pump, felpro gaskets, rod rebuilt and assembled, customer sold the old truck and left us holding the bad, i always require a deposit and he let that go, any other questions, please ask!!!" Wish I was closer, My 52 Suburban could use a rebuild.
  5. Bill, I sent you some info on the annual truck show in Plymouth,Ca. this weekend. If you like old trucks you'll love the show. I'm unable to go this weekend. Inlaws showing up. I'm hoping I might be able to talk them in to a cruise on this rig though.
  6. OR......Maybe this engine had been transplanted into his truck by a previous owner and the present owner didn't realise it was a Plymouth car engine until it was too late.
  7. Oops Streamer....if forgot the .net in the email address.
  8. I spotted this rebuilt engine on eBay. It's too far away from me. Here's their reply to my question about the engine number. "reg, the number you asked for is p23*616220 and for your info we found the manual transmission and that will be included with the engine at not extra cost, we are a large auto parts store and machine shop and we are only trying to get our money for the labor and parts we installed , customer refused to pick-up engine. thanks, mike " http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&sspagename=ADME%3AL%3ARTQ%3AUS%3A1&viewitem=&item=230121628057&rd=1
  9. Dave, PM your address to me. It's yours for the shipping.
  10. This eBay seller has sever different styles listed right now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Spark-Plug-Wire-Set-for-1938-1942-MoPar-6-Cyl_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ34205QQihZ016QQitemZ260020920300
  11. Streamer, I'm in Northern Calif. Send me an email at regoevans@sbcglobal for the particulars.
  12. Dave, Are either of these the piece? It's been a while since I have removed my floor mat.
  13. Joe, I don't think there would be any benefit in installing a 3 speed in place of the 4 speed. The gear ratios in 2nd,3rd and 4th of the 4 speed are very similar to the ratios in a 3 speed. 3rd in a 3 speed and 4th in a 4 speed are both 1 to 1 ratios. 1st gear isn't really needed unless you are starting out on a steep grade with a heavy load or you have a stump to pull .
  14. The dip stick tube may just un screw from the block.
  15. I have an original one available ($25 + shipping). I'd like to invite you to fill out a profile so we'll know a little about you and your location. CONGRATS on the new truck by the way!
  16. WOW ! I've never heard of or seen 140 or 150 psi on one of these flat head sixes. Maybe the head had been shaved a bunch already by a previous owner.
  17. Sounds to me like at least one of your pistons has a bad leak and you are getting a build up of unburned gas in the crankcase. Have you done a compression check now with the new head gasket installed?
  18. I've been using one like this for a long time and it works great !
  19. Musta been a Truck engine originally
  20. Here's what you'll be fishing for. I'll have to second Grey Beards motion to remove the freeze plugs.
  21. I believe this is that trucks owner Don. They are stored there while driving to prevent them getting from tangled in the steering wheel. While backing up proceed with great caution.
  22. Yeah......and my truck is also missing this.
  23. Here's a closeup of my 52 horn bracket. For the decals try seaplym on eBay.
  24. Here's what an original one looks like on a 52.
  25. Yeah...I like that one. Can you say FLAT BLACK FAST BACK real fast 3 times?
