  1. Desotodav, I found this option in the Dodge truck master parts book. Just a part numbert no pictures. The number is really an old one. So I'm sure it was installed on the 30's cars. I have just never seen one in the truck literature or ever on a truck and have never talked to anyone who had one on their truck. Why would you really want one for a truck? Maybe a big truck with big costly tires. Bob
  2. The Windsor 6 cylinder Travelers had an imitation alligator upholstry in them. I have seen several on E bay and Craigslist over the years. They all had chrome and wood roof racks with wood slats as on the T&C 4 door sedans. The ones I have seen all had the roof rack. No production figures as they were mixed in with Windsor 4 door production. All this info is from "70 years of Chrysler".
  3. The rarest Dodge factory offered option....is.....? The spare tire safety lock kit!!!! Anyone have one? I'm sure no one has one on their truck!!
  4. Well, I just couldn't wait - too much anxiety and being cheap-Ha Ha, I made up my own spare carrier wing nut and got it on my truck. Two hours start to finish. I should Cad plate it but-nah, it's good. I added a very stiff cushion spring and a safety spring pin clip, just in case the wing nut were to back off. I also put a safety chain around the tire to the frame. Washington state is real tough on anything not fastened to a vehicle for road safety. I'm always extra safe with my stuff. Bob
  5. Hank, Here are a couple more pics of the Timing Guage. It's really old and I don't have the instructions! It's got different tips for all different engines. There are 2 strobes. The guage has a arc glass tube too. I have never been able to find any info on this exact indicator. It's a cool tool!
  6. 1 ton rims are pretty tough! 2X BFH. Accurate blows!
  7. I will have to figure out where I put it and get you more info. Bob
  8. Don Bunn's B-Series truck book tells all about the interior colors.
  9. My 1948 2-1/2 ton had 6 volt. 1951 and later most have electric as I have seen.
  10. That switch looks good. Maybe a little contact sanding or light file clean up. The upper copper contact floats a bit. It has two 45 degree surfaces that make electrical contact. Look at the round plunger-it probably can be screwed in or out for adjusting plunger length. The plunger might not be pushing the upper contact tight to the lower motor contact. Not all are adjustable though. The 12 volt jump start clamps sometimes don't make 100% good electrical connections on steel conections - on lead cables they do and all the current gets to the starter motor. I'd make sure you have excellent proper big 1 Gauge size USA made cables. Make sure your ground connection is clean and in the correct factory location on the engine and a new H-Duty 6 volt battery . Then do your start/cranking and see if all is well. If not-starter rebuild time. I helped a guy with a P8 and same issue. The problem was small long cheap battery cables. The battery was under the seat , same as yours. Too much voltage drop over that long run. Bob.
  11. I bought it off Ebay about 5 years ago for about $30.00. happy to find it!
  12. Rear shackles on the 1 tons are different than the threaded type used on the 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks. 1 Tons use a smooth, easy to remove pin on the front and rear shackles of the rear end as you stated ggdad1951. Not sure on the front spring shackles. I beleive they are threaded front and rear. This threaded spring and shackle replacement has been talked about here in the past. A search will bring it up-hopefully! Bob
  13. Here is a picture of the 23" 218/230ci engine showing the 1-3/16" diameter of the Cylinder head "Welch" plug and also showing the Timing Indicator tool inserted into the #6 cyl. 1/8" pipe plug testing hole. Most all long block 25" engines and Straight Eights use a 1-3/8" cyl. head "welch" plug. AKA core or soft plug.
  14. How do you think the push rods got bent?
  15. Wow, Some else belongs to the Mr Tech training club!
  16. I especially like the T&C too! Good clips.
  17. Here are some more pic's. The bar fits 1948-53. I compared early 1948 B and later1951-3 B trucks to be sure. They are all the same. Bob
  18. I already have 3 or 4 sets of pistons- NOT Std. All .030's. I am not buying anything now but NOS 1946-52 Chrysler diecast chrome.
  19. I love Ebay and those pistons are a steal. If you are Ebay smart there are great deals to be had! Don't be an Epay idiot. Those pistons can be used in a good straight wall 23" block by some one not requiring perfection and who knows what they are doing. I put eight new standard 3-1/4's in one of my straight eight Chryslers because I didn't want to do a "proper" 100% engine rebuild on that car. To this day the engine runs flawless. I did the job back in 1985! I'm happy:)
  20. That transmission is the standard spur gear 4 speed used in the 1948-50 F and G series Std. duty 1-1/2 tonners. Nice job on the restoration!
  21. I have that H-duty steering brace on my 48 2-1/2 tonner. I've seen them on J and K series trucks- a clamp on the bottom of the Gemmer box and a solid curved steel 1" round rod that goes under the oil pan and goes through the Rt. frame rail, has two 2" 1/4 " square plates on each sde of the frame rail and nuts inner and outer of the frame rail to adjust and lock it tight. I'll post a pic if no one else has one. Bob
  22. The number is a dead number. I looked through three MoPar supercedence books-no deal. Looked through four more MoPar parts books-nothing. Nice pistons though.
  23. Lots of rich people around here including Bill Gates-cost of gas at close to $4.00 isn't an issue.
