  1. Horn ring ground wire...looks replaced... normally fine strand stainless black wire.
  2. All 1948-50 cabs are the same...1/2 thru 4 ton. All 1951- 53 1/2 thru 4 ton are the same.
  3. IMO...todays NAPA vintage import distributor ignition parts are of very poor quality. The condensers fail...contact points burn up very quick....no tungsten I suppose.
  4. The after market coils don't have the factory correct shape mounting bracket that is spot welded to the coil casing.
  5. Brillman is a good company to deal with...I would email them good pics of the assembled internals of the dizzy. Been there done that on ordering dizzy parts only to find the condenser lead is wrong or points clocked wrong. Better sure of correct parts ordered than wrong.?
  6. I would just buy a 6 volt NAPA Echlin coil. It won't just bolt on like factory though. His ignition wires and or distributor had issues. My parts trucks will always start reliably even in the wettest weather. The twin carbs though will run dry after sitting and require cranking a bit with the choke on to fill the carbs. Just carefully go through the ignition system....not much there to do. Install good quality american made points and condenser....no china modern ignition parts...coil will be though if new. Keep your old coil just in case..
  7. Those core plugs will not come out if installed properly. I would be more concerned about the OE heater core or OE design water pump seal leaking before good core plugs at 10-12 lbs.
  8. I did some work on a rare 29 DeSoto panel a few years ago..it's still here in Washington. A 29 DeSoto of any body type is a cool rare car.
  9. Wow! Nicely done truck! Just takes lots of careful thought out modification work and lots and lots of money.
  10. Isn't it fun working on a engine that has sat for years?... Been through and dealt with exactly the same problems. Yeah...just plumb the fuel system up like you say. Get it running. Then later re-do it the correct factory way. You want steps forward not backwards!?
  11. Here is the correct brass fitting for the Moly Block twin carbs..
  12. 1941-42 DeSoto and Chrysler had the throttle linkage on the side of the block...not on the head. Simpli-Matic M4 was the DeSoto trans...Vaca-Matic M4 was Chrysler.
  13. The real pot metal OE Dodge DeSoto Chrysler swan neck mirror.. Came in a couple different mirror head diameters and plain smooth chrome mirror head and embossed ringed head. They are ornamentation only for the passenger side as you can't see a thing with it's placement. Silly phone orientation pics?
  14. If you can stand a nickel on edge on the eight cylinder head while idling or higher rpm the engine is in good shape tune wise.?
  15. 85w/140 for the trans and the two speed double reduction rear axle. Buy it by the gallons!
  16. I have never had any misfire because of the metal loom issue in any of my eight cylinder cars. But I use modern Hypalon 7 mm plug wire.
  17. More pics..The line coming out of the top end of the booster slave cyl goes right over to a brass "T" block fitting that both the front and rear braje lines connect to. The booster sends boosted fluid to both front and rear brakes...not just to the rear brakes. The master cylinder line connects directly to the fitting at the base of the slave cyl. area as shown in the pics.
  18. Some info...of course pics ended up out of order..oh well. This is a free service
  19. I will dig out the W series DT Service Sheets by tomorrow...
  20. Those certainly look like OE guards.
  21. Not big but hauls tons of wood every winter...
  22. I will look up the service bulletin on that booster....no adjustments that I know of. It should supply boost to all four wheels.
  23. Those are two beautiful trucks! Need a picture of your factory? mid frame mounted booster... Is it a Midland booster?
  24. Quality tools get the job done fast and last many years too! That's a really nice air hammer.?
  25. Ok...that crimp looks ok!? One I installed had a pretty rough looking crimp job making me somewhat leery though I know it will work fine.
