Another item to keep in mind is if you have a 6 volt radio installed, the increased voltage with an 8 volt system may cause premature failure of the radio.

I ran into the same problem with a manifold stud last year.As has been mentioned start with a small drill bit and work up to a larger one and pick the remains of the stud out.If done carefully the threads should be okay.A couple of things - I picked up some cobalt drill bits also rented an angle drill as I don't have one.This worked better for me because of the confined space.

Hi Ed,I plan to be there and if I see your sign I'll certainly say hello.I've been there a couple of times in the past,a huge show and without fail I've found stuff that I could use - it's always been an enjoyable weekend.I'm looking forward to it.

You did a nice job,It brought back memories I have painting a car back in my younger days.I was wearing a mask such as it was - went outside the garage to have a cigarette,staggered a bit,light-headed from the reducers.If I did that today there would be a call for an ambulance;).

I had a visit with an old timer mechanic the other day and the conversation drifted to modern engine oils.He mentioned zinc additives (zddp) have been reduced to extend the life of catalytic converters - downside is engine wear is compromised and he suggested using diesel engine oil lubricant.I'm not sure what advantage this would have as most older vehicles have minimal use and don't clock a lot of miles.

Lubriplate 115 is listed as water pump grease.It can be ordered on line, $12.67 for a 14 ounce can.

I agree with the consensus.Unfortunately the car is beyond restoration.Some parts are no doubt useable but this would represent a very small percentage of the finished product.The bulk of the parts would be coming from donor cars and other sources.So it would be almost fraudulent to claim this was a restoration of the car unearthed in Tulsa.

Hi Brendan and forum members.... I should have introduced myself.I'm located in southern Alberta and own a 1948 Canadian Dodge D25 club coupe.- Had one in my highschool days(many years ago),slightly modified of course.I plan on keeping this one stock. I also have a 1946 Plymouth P15 club coupe which I may alter some time in the future,still undecided.It's in pretty nice shape. Robert KB also has the same year,model Dodge as I have and is also located in Lethbridge as well. This area of Canada has a dry climate that is kind to old cars and people. The winters aren't too bad and we have the Chinook winds that can raise the temperature and clear the snow in a hurry. This is a great forum with lots of helpful info and good humour.

I decided to retire when the subject material of the last training course I attended made about as much sense as this video.I'm quite content now to tinker with my old cars.
