  1. I don't agree that oil bath air cleaners are inefficient nor have I experienced oil being sucked out of the reservoir at high RPM. However, neither am I racing at Bonneville with an oil bath air cleaner...
  2. ....Just messing with you - and perhaps showing my age.
  3. I believe in the Billy Vaughn recording the lyrics were referring to the American west...
  4. Aaaah..."The Shifting Whispering Sands"...
  5. Kinda goes along with the storyline in some of the old time western movies...
  6. Should be a fun project and will no doubt have interesting handling characteristics. You've probably seen the 3 wheeler Morgans and the kit replicars, albeit RWD and not tandem seating.Saw this Morgan replica at a show last fall fitted with a Moto Guzzi engine and some added bling. The fellow with the cap is the owner/builder. Also a link to a fun drive..
  7. I wasn't aware of the proper pronunciation....Appears Oscar kinda missed the mark in this picture.
  8. First new truck I bought off the lot was a 1977 Ford F250 Crew Cab 4X4.Wasn't much of a choice where we were living at the time. It was either Ford or GM... I still own the truck and it's been a good one.
  9. Found this photo of Hudson carburetor heat shields. The bend is directed up and over the manifold toward the head...
  10. Fred ,I don't pretend to be an expert on heat shields, but I have seen a few that were stock. At one time I owned a 54 Lincoln Capri,("Road Race Lincoln"), it came stock with an insulating block between the carburetor and manifold. Hudsons in the early 50's came with heat deflectors fitted between the carburetor and the manifold. Also I have an early 50's Studebaker that has air from the grille directed towards the fuel pump...
  11. Don,No need to sit in the corner - Sometimes I envy your ability to come up with such witty remarks.
  12. Fred,You did a nice job on the fabrication. One thing I might change is the flare on the shield - I would extend it a bit in length and direct it up maybe 30 degrees and out aimed towards the fender. Do you have an insulating block as well between the carburetor and manifold?
  13. Comparison was a little crude, but at the same time, somewhat humorous.
  14. A car I have had the 12 volt negative conversion done before I purchased it. The ignition coil that was fitted (internal resistor) is a NAPA IC14
  15. Tim, Nice to have a new vehicle to jump into with all the modern comforts for the longer road trips. I'm sure it will serve you well. Speaking of toys, I have a few as well - keeps me occupied.
  16. Nice to have purchased another new off the lot vehicle, brand loyalty no less. Tim,you have me curious - what model did you buy?

  20. "American Grafitti" movie appeared in theatres?...
  21. There's an old wrecking yard located in Junction City,Kansas - still in business. A couple of videos are on youtube showing some of his inventory ."Easy Jacks 1" and "Easy Jacks 2"
  22. Fun to watch, although Babe Ruth didn't appear to enjoy the ride - somewhat of a ham.
