  1. Actually, the majority of the old school customs and hot rods back in the day were just done in primer anyway. So.........it looks period as far as I'm concerned even if you left it in primer. Thanks Norm, I have to keep it in primer because I am not done with the body mods just yet, heck I can even make up my mind in some... and you are 100% right on the fact that shopping for parts and fitting things in it's just as much fun! MKSTR!
  2. Hang it on the wall in the garage and tell your wife it's a decoration for the house. Therefore, she can't count it as you spending money for nothing on the car. She hangs pictures in the house for decorations. So.......this is wall art for the garage. After all the garage is part of the house, so you want it to look good to, doesn't she. Yeah! I like that, I never tought of it like that...I guess I never been into art and deccor. LOL! how about the rest of the beast? what ya think? I know now I'm pushing it....
  3. Nice to know they are Mopar shows, around here it's the lonesome mopar in between all the chebbys and furds...but they always stand out and bring the crowds... MKSTR!
  4. looks good!, you are still going to buff it out right? I always heard that after painting it, you need to buff it out. MKSTR! !
  5. So.....guess all it takes is a little measuring and looking to come up with an interchangeable steering wheel, and a little luck. Plus you can buy adapters from the places that sell aftermarket custom steering wheels. Yeah the measuring is really good specially when you are limited in your budget and do not have enough to be wrong on a couple of steering wheels laying around.
  6. Nice one Norm, I like it but the wife will shoot me if I were to get it, you know I will have to buy the wife beater shirt and maybe a couple of tatoos on the neck!
  7. Mackster, call me when it's time to hook up the battery. I need to field test a new smoke capturing device I invented. You can catch all the smoke that escapes and then re-install it in the wires and stuff afterwards. HA HA HA I will, you can help me clean out all the burn marks from the walls after I connect the battery.... MKSTR!
  8. well at least new to me some crack little scratches nothing too bad but usable as is......Here it is, what do you think? it's off a 60 Belvedere, (I was told) I just like the look and with a little measuring and counting and re-measuring I decide it to buy it with out knowing for sure if it will fit. and IT DID! MKSTR!
  9. Assuming that it is still in there, I bet someone pull the engine and then was lookng to sell the left overs...
  10. Thanks James, I just spoke with one today and they told me they can rebuild it and convert it for about 100 bucks your like a mind reader and stuff
  11. ] I just put in my generator with a steering pump and it turned out to be 6V from a 51 desoto Hemy 276. talk about a mess, now I have to get a step dow nfrom 12V to six to feed the generator, will it charge the 12Vac battery? I don't know.... Not sure what you need to feed the generator as it is an output device. A 6 volt generator will not charge a 12 volt battery if that is your question. You should be able to find a drop in 12 volt generator (and voltage regulator) from a later 50,s Mopar. Or possibly a better option would be a 12 volt alternator. Just replaced the alternator, I need the generator because it has a power steering pump piggy back on the rear, to get the steering goin, and yeah you are right I meant if I were to wire it up to my 12V system it would not charge my battery as it is a 6V Generator, what do you suggest?
  12. Mackster, I thought your wiring looked pretty much like you had it installed. it's done except for the steering column and the switches for the lights and other misc. stuff, my biggest problem is that all my parts are from several different vehicles and models so I have to retrace every single thing in order to work. Get this, I just put in my generator with a steering pump and it turned out to be 6V from a 51 desoto Hemy 276. talk about a mess, now I have to get a step dow nfrom 12V to six to feed the generator, will it charge the 12Vac battery? I don't know....
  13. I will keep an eye on this thread as I started to do mine with a kit and got lost somewhere in the steering wheel column and gauges (dash) it's not too fun, but I will copy anything you do right! MKSTR!
  14. Thanks Oldaddy don't forget to seal it like Don Coatneys picture or similar, hopefully he doesn't mind me reposting it here...MKSTR!

  18. I WON! here is the story, I call the owner of the company with the lien three days in a row, He said He'd call me back tomorrow, every single day...then today He told me He did not have time for this, to just go over and settle it like man............. with a 20 pack of my choice...There I go 40 miles out of my way from work with the finest brewskys I could find at the local liquor store...I get there and four of his best sales guys are there waiting for me, He opened the first bottle and tells us the story on how He got the car (story is too good for this thread stay tuned...) and how it use to look like. then some talk about general business ideas and ethics of his business, then after I mention my side of the story, He agrees that I will have to part the car out to get my money back, and Him seeing the pictures of the car, He told me, a lot people have tried to get the title just to sell it and make a quick buck, you seem to care for this junk(P.O.S.) I telll ya I will just sign it if you can promise me that you will finish it. Isaid YES SIR! He signed it stamp it and gave me a typed letter stating that the interested in the car has been dropped and that the lien hold has been satisfied, "PAID IN FULL" The sweetest words coming from this old timer with a raspy voice and a mean look. We completed the transaction with the last beers and a firm hand shake, I tell ya, I have a better understanding about ethics and conduct of business, as it "use to be":D MKSTR!
  19. Tim that is just brilliant! I have not thought of this point of view...I have a new weapon againts them keep them coming guys.... I need all the help I can get! Jeez I still can't get over that it's just plain and simple...brilliant! MKSTR!
  20. Thank You both for your help and support! I know these Salvage title people really did me wrong...No matching title (I got one with the bill of sale but it does not match the DMV records), no plates and better yet then deny that they knew anything about it. The DMV lady told me that the last person started the paperwork and then suddenly di not return with anything...., I know who they are, but I feel better by overcoming this problems, then to confront and start a mess with those people. Hopefully I can come up with a satisfactory agreement with the lien company. after all, I know they wrote this car off as a loss long time ago, they should just let it go....
  21. I called the guy from the lien company, He said He wants a small fee to let it go....I told him is been out of the system for 8 1/2 years soon it will be out of the DMV files. He said let's talk..I am getting a feeling He may let this one one for a buck or two... MKSTR
  22. O.K. I called them today, they seem to remember the car from way back then in 1998. They said it was not paid in full and that they don't know how to handle it from there. They ask me to call tomorrow so they can have some time to talk to the owner....Good news? I think I'm loosing this one....I need to start planning plan B. I think I may buy new tags and another title....MKSTR!
  23. Yeah I will take them I will contact you , I am sure I will need them...
