  1. Tim, if you can get up there at all, you're way ahead of me!! I used to climb the mast on an aircraft carrier and now (40 years later!) an 8' foot ladder is as big a thrill as Disneyland! At least, I don't have to remember to move slowly- it just comes naturally!! Be careful!
  2. Maybe a previous person mounted that bracket in the wrong spot. Maybe due to the spring being weak and needing a little more stretch. Or he didn't know what he was doing.
  3. Refrigerator magnet......Excellent idea!!! Thanks, Don.
  4. That's what I'm talkin' about!!
  5. I can't even imagine what you've been through. It's absolutely amazing! It's a heck of a way to accomplish it, but you'll have a clean shop for a while, when you're done rebuilding. I hope it all goes fast and to your satisfaction.
  6. Well, poop! I went through some of your old posts and it's understandable why you've had your fill. That would definitely take a bunch of the fun out of it. but, you're soooo close to success! It'd be a shame to give up now. It's like the research scientist- he worked for many long years on a formula, but couldn't get it right. He knew what he wanted, but it just wasn't coming together. Finally, after 7 tries he couldn't stand it anymore and he walked off and left it. He gave all his research to another guy- good riddance!!! Well, the other guy took it all and made one more try, and BINGO! Success! He went on to become rich and famous. You see, the first guy gave up after coming up with "Preparation G". Anyway, I hope it all works out for you the way you'd like.
  7. My B-I-L owned a car lot and would grow potatoes the same way, but he used old tires instead of a barrel. They helped to hold the heat a bit longer into the evening, also.
  8. Man! There's gotta be alot of people having alot of nightmares over all that! Yes, indeed! MOST thankful!!!!!
  9. Early prototype Yo-Yo? Still had a few bugs to work out.
  10. Did you take it to work the next day? If so, How did it do?
  11. So, if Plymouth also had a two barrel, it sounds like you've come to the right conclusion about the marketing ploy.
  12. Before seeing your pictures, I was thinking that maybe you mistakenly put some "Little Nash Rambler" parts in the tranny. But that's probably not it.
  13. That's what's called "makin' do". It's nice to be in a position to not have to do it that way. Anymore.
  14. The poor ol' cop is in a quandary- he knows how he WANTS to help her, but he also knows he should just hold her groceries. Either way, there's probably not going to be a ticket involved.
  15. Fine!! We've got a 2-2 tie. Now I don't know whether to get one or not!
  16. Of course, the insurance is just looking at the bottom line. It would probably be an easy, fairly cheap fix here. but, over there the price would go ballistic due to parts procurement, thus making it prohibitive. Which is a shame.
  17. I'm gonna throw my .02 in here, hoping not to tick anyone off, BUT, I'd maybe reconsider changing those bearings. We rebuild alot of electric motors and from what I've seen, most used Timkens are still smoother than alot of new "whatever's". Just be sure to check 'em out close. Again, just my opinion, and you know what they say about that.
  18. Even closer up the road from me. I got all my brake parts there. They are a fun bunch to deal with. Lots of old timey stuff on the shelves, the way most "parts houses" used to be.
  19. What Neil said. The current has several connections of varying types that all need to be clean and tight. It's not so much that they are 6 volts as they are getting old and corroded, etc. Some elbow grease will pay off here.
  20. The season's just getting going and it's old already! Stay safe!
  21. That looks pretty good. Is it air only, or heat, too. Do you know what brand it is?
  22. They seemed to be a real hot deal a few years back-you couldn't live without one. It's good to hear it works. Will look into aquiring one.
  23. Good progress! And you can never have too much room!
  24. I don't want to hijack claybill's thread, but a question for Nate: how much did you whittle off the front springs?
  25. I think we did about the same thing to my "50 seats. They are not in the car yet, but just sitting on the bottom part seems like they will be PLENTY stiff.
