  7. A friend at work a few yrs ago put a 3 cylinder Perkins diesel into his 1963 Chebby 4X4 one ton. What a beast that thing was but he built it to haul and it sure did do that. Hauled a 28 foot 5th wheel flatdeck like it wasn't even there. Lots of power and sounds great! The Brits send troops and equipment over to train at Suffield Base just south of here. They don't take the trucks back they just sell them here so quite a few kicking around after all these yrs

  10. I am on the email list for a local, busy, estate sale organizer They come in, catalog and price everything and have a well advertised 4 day sale. Email list members, however are allowed in 2 hours early on the first day. I've been to about 3 and got some good deals which the general public never saw. Do I feel guilty? Of course not

  12. Don, I think they are full of dog-poop regarding their own products. This was posted on this forum but I can't remember whose it is Clearly shows outlets toward the middle of the car, quite accessible. Maybe send them this pic and ask them what's up??

  14. Pete, that's a real nice replacement for the Plymouth. It's a great idea to have the boys involved so they can learn about vehicles. Even if they never pursue cars as a hobby, they'll know what the "mechanic" is talking about when they are told the turbo encabulator needs replacing and it will be $2000. In the meantime, you know where they are if they are working on the Willys. Some of my best memories are of wrenching on old cars with my dad. Who gets his drivers license first?? Keep us up to date, or at least post a link every once in a while

  17. I plan to offset the new V8/auto to the passenger side a bit for steering box clearance on the 49 Chrysler. The question is does the transmission tailshaft get that same offset, or would the engine get angled to place the trans tailshaft in the center of the car side to side?? I have the pinion angle figured out but the engine angle has me wondering. I'm leaning to offsetting the tailshaft. Thanks for any opinions on this
  18. Randy I'm in a sort of similar situation. I don't mind doing the work, but it's a fight to get the owner to even meet me halfway. (I don't rent I work here...live in caregiver) Sometimes I wonder why I fight with them for the privilege of doing work to their house. Good luck with it.

  20. I have had brake failure over the years with dual pot equipped vehicles and in all cases I lost all the brakes. The theory behind the dual pot system does not match my real world experience. Not sure why it happened...in all cases they were not cars I had worked on at all!!
  21. Thanks, Fred...I'll do that, although the PWHM is for 46-48 right? These are for the 49-54 M6. Seems to be very little interest in these very hard to find parts. Pat
  22. Looks like a decent kit, Don. What application or part number is the master cylinder you're using?? Looks like disc/drum m/c...are you going to incorporate a combination valve?
  23. I have 2 sets of 6 "new" NOS 30 over pistons and rings if anyone's interested. Made in 1958.
  24. For those with 49 and later fluid drive with the M6 semi-automatic, I have some hard to find essential parts for the transmission for sale.
