  2. When I was prepping for install of Charlies kit, I took his advice on his instructions and replaced the kingpins. For all I know, they could have been 50 yrs old, and the thing was already apart. For the price, piece of mind and not having to take it apart again, they got replaced. As you said, now is the time.
  3. This beauty is For Sale on the Sweptline forum. $1300!! Located in Genesee, Idaho. http://www.sweptline.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=25532 Try this one...no log in required http://spokane.craigslist.org/cto/2118280737.html
  4. A fellow in Queensland Australia is making some pretty wild art with unwanted old parts. Check it out: http://www.jamescorbettart.com/default.html
  5. Walter P seems to have a cheeky grin on his face. Going for a drive, even in winter, beats sitting in the garage with no scenery. Nice and cold here too, but they put lots of salt on the roads.
  6. That worked, Bob. Interesting collection of cars and very reasonable prices. Try THIS link... http://www2.snapfish.com/snapfish/thumbnailshare/AlbumID=5509374007/a=60456321_60456321/otsc=SHR/otsi=SALBlink/COBRAND_NAME=snapfish/
  7. Love to see the pics, but not gonna sign up for snapfish at all. Maybe you have to post individual URL's for each pic like Photobucket?
  8. If it's a Canadian built truck, then only the head is non-stock.
  9. Could only watch until the little bent rebar steps...not enough money on the planet for me to do that.
  10. My young brother and sister in Drumheller, Alberta 1965 in front of what would eventually be my first 49 Chrysler. It was our family car here. My Mother in front of my Dads 46 Chevy, 1954, outside Golden B.C. Chevy was painted Godess Gold and Alpine White. Just one of those useless facts I'll never forget
  11. The pale green on the underside is not primer. It's there to prevent the reflection of the visor from showing in the windshield and potentially blocking your vision.
  12. Glad it's on the road again, Pete. How about some pics for us???
  13. How about pulling the engine/trans in one unit, and take the opportunity to clean and detail both the engine/trans and the engine compartment?? Might end up being the same amount of work as laying on the cold concrete bashing your head and getting crud falling in your eyes. Great winter project??
  14. ENGINE REAR SUPPORT INSULATORS The engine rear support insulators may be removed and installed by disconnecting the exhaust pipe bracket and overdrive control bracket (if any). Jack up the rear of the engine and remove the support bolts. Then rock the engine and pry out the insulators. When installing them, change the position of the jack from one side of the engine to the other when jacking up the engine to obtain the necessary clearance ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is from my 1949-1952 Canadian Mopar Shop Manual.
  15. A friend has an old hemi that he needs info on to ID it. The engine number is NE5633240. Can anyone decode that number or point me to a site that can?? Thanks guys!!!!!!
  16. I had a cracked distributor cap do that on me in a 54 IHC truck back in the olden days
  17. I use Zep Purple, 50% dilution. Spray it on, leave it sit, spray off with wand wash. or brush with stiff bristle brush and rinse off with a garden hose. They come out like new, and the Zep will take out most scuffs. Great for blackwall tires, too. They come out looking like new. Home Depot has Zep Purple. Great for all kinds of cleaning. One gallon lasts me a year.
  18. I would tell him it's a package deal. Then it's his problem as to what to do with the frame. If the price you set includes the frame and you are happy with the price, then the frame is part of it. If the potential buyer wants a substantial discount because he doesn't want the frame, then personally, I would say no deal because I wouldn't want to be stuck with a frame that would take a long time to sell and would be around the yard potentially for years. I suppose another option would be to find another body and bolt it down and you would have another good running truck to sell
  19. Actually, James is Robert's SON, not brother. His ROLE in Thunder Road was as Robert's brother. James is 69.
  20. Those old GM's that had wire type hubcaps needed a special wrench to get the hubcap off, not the wheel. Gotta check the trunk and the glove box and under the seat. Good luck
  21. I used to use winter windshield washer fluid, or 50/50 engine antifreeze on the door rubbers and the locks when I would wash the car in winter to prevent the doors freezing shut and the locks from freezing. I used an old oil can cleaned out to get the fluid into the locks.
  22. Tim, if you "tag" each picture with all the subjects that are in the picture, then you just need to search any one of those tags and the 'bucket will create an instant album of all pics with those tags. I hated going through all the albums to find a pic too. The tags make it simple and quick. The "tag" thing is used in almost all photo sites and programs, online or on your computer. http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/glossary/a/tagging.htm
  23. They are so cute at that age when they do stuff like that! That was funny:)
  24. Tim, it's that damned show Hoarders that scares the crap out of me and is a big motivator. I'm not that bad by a longshot but I can see the possibility of a slide if I'm not careful.
