  1. Well done! That's a beauty
  2. Nice find...though it might need some seatcovers and a buffing
  3. CV front suspension into a Fargo: http://www.vintagerods.ca/showthread.php?819-Some-pics-of-the-fargo-progess...&highlight=fargo Just this one page and no finished product but does show some for those interested.
  4. In Canada I don't think we could buy the big Chryslers with the straight 8...my Royal was the 251 six, but not a Spitfire...that was US only. My Royal had the Fluid Drive with a 3 speed standard. You needed to buy a Windsor to get the M6. It will be getting either a '63 383 or a '75 440 and a 727. I am in the process of installing RustyHope's disc brakes on the front of the Chrysler as well after rebuilding the front suspension. Hopefully I'll feel well enough to get at it this year...if not it will all be sold
  5. Looks familiar (This is my Royal in '03 when I bought it.) Yours is in great condition!! What will you be asking for it when you sell???
  6. You might consider Ron Francis as well. http://www.ronfrancis.com/
  7. These "old" cars worked just as hard as modern trucks back in the day. PHOTO FROM SHORPY.COM http://www.shorpy.com/node/9571?size=_original
  8. I've been able to get most parts right from my local parts store. The "older" parts guy knows his stuff and where to get it but most of it is at the warehouse, next day delivery.
  9. Take a very close look at the stock suspension on these cars. Now take a close look at the "upgraded" suspensions. The frame is as sturdy as they come as are the A arms etc. All the parts needed to rebuild to new specs are easily available. I'm not sure the "upgrade" is worth the result. There are some very good brake updates, the springs from a hemi car will hold the 455 easily. My apologies...I usually just press the "New Posts" button to check the forum. I didn't check which side I was on. Sorry.
  10. 16/17 That was fun
  11. Temp last few days minus 18c with very strong north wind, things won't improve for at least 7 days...the vehicles are stored for the winter, the 49 Chrysler is in the garage...waiting patiently for me to find a used furnace and get to work The only nice thing is that there is usually some nice bright sunshine to ease the gloom some.
  12. Hey, it's on the road doing what it was built to do. How many of these have been crushed and shredded? The engine was changed and can be changed back, it's not permanently destroyed. I like it
  13. Probably because of the low hood on those era cars they had to redesign the water pump to lower the fan?
  14. But it's a flathead, so you are at the right place. The little "c" at the end of the engine number indicates Canadian, so it's likely the original. Maybe you have misread the first digits or letters??? Welcome This Canadian Dodge is in our local Pick-N-Pull for sale whole...don't know the price.
  15. Where are you at?
  16. I have rellies in Kurrimine Beach in Queensland. Have not been able to get a response from them as to whether they are affected. They are about 3 blocks from the ocean. Other rellies in Edmonton, Innisfail and Cairnes. They seem to be OK so far.
  17. Does the fellow with the 1940 Dodge imported to OZ have to have it converted to RHD? What are the rules for that? Here, they let RHD vehicles on the road as is no restrictions. It's obvious some folks are beyond their skill set being on the "wrong side" of the car over here!!! The car is fine, the drivers are horrible.
  18. If that bracket doesn't work, have a look under the dash of a 73-87 Chevy/GMC. They have a bracket that has the pedals, has the master cylinder mount, and has the steering column mount all in one compact bracket. I used one under the dash of my 48 REO Speedwagon back in the late 80's. It fit without modification under that dash. I drilled the 4 holes for the studs for the master cylinder/booster through the firewall and the 2 bolts along the lip of the dash and the bracket was in. Even had the brake light switch and the column wiring.
  19. For me, North is Up amd south is down...east and west are both over there. It's just how I roll. We have more antique tractors because we take care of our equipment!
  20. On my '49 the pad comes off with the dash. If you just want the padded part off, just reach under behind the dash and there are nuts holding the pad on.
  21. Nice '53 and decent price with a hemi to boot! The dash is a slight variation on the '49 dash. This is my '49 parts car:
  22. The pain pills and shots they gave me did about as much as a jelly bean would have done...nothing. They DID lighten the wallet considerable though Acupuncture is the only thing that allows me to be upright and mobile right now. Home made lemon pie in the fridge to have with the coffee later Have a good 2011 everyone!!
  23. Thanks Tim!! And a Merry Christmas to you and yours!! Merry Christmas to all the forum members and especially our genial host, Gerald! As Robert said, beautiful sunny warm weather here for this time of year...can't ask for better that's for sure. For me, this has been so far and is continuing to be the best Christmas I've had for 20 yrs. It's just been a blast! I hope everyone else is having a great one as well!!!
  24. Check with a busy auto parts store for a radiator box thay may have, and for the rad an abs pipe would be good. They come in a few diameters and work great. Merry Christmas!
