  1. My Dad bought this '63 brand new. This is it on it's first day at work. It was a very tough truck and more than earned it's keep.
  2. A call to a current dealer may yield an oldtimer who would know the old dealers. It may still be around with a name change.
  3. I'll go have a look in my parts box from the '49 now that I know what I'm lookin fer.
  4. Looks just like Walter P hisself had it designed to be there...nice job.
  5. Cyclones, floods, fires...and now earthquakes! I hope everyone gets through this OK.
  6. Great thread...has Oppie considered marketing the bracket? I'd like R&P for my '49 if I can ever get back to work on it.
  7. I put straight antifreeze in a spray bottle around the opening on the rubber gasket to open the door and then just run it for a while with the defroster on full. Takes care of most of it. You can also put windshield washer fluid in a spray bottle and spray the windows. Takes a bit to clear ice but does work without damaging anything.
  8. Rodney, happy it all ended on a happy note and you could enjoy a good meal after a tense day like that!
  9. Welcome back James. Your input has been missed. How are you and how is the DeSoto??
  10. That's one happy kid there...what a smile!
  11. That will make a massive improvement in ride and handling...and it looks like a piece of art! Nice to see quality craftsmanship.
  12. I don't think chains are required on private passenger vehicles in the Rogers Pass in BC, just commercial trucks and it's a bear in the winter. I guess we are just used to it and the gov't knows that... Lots of avalanche closures and delays near Golden BC this winter as well. One closure lasted about 6 days. Here in Calgary, sunny and cold...outdoor NHL hockey game on Sunday.
  13. Two more old Mopars and a maybe My Mother, grandfather ® and his brother (L) and a 1949 Dodge (Canadian) Same Dodge, with my Uncle and cousin And one more that I don't know the make of car...Chevy or P15? My grandmother and her sister from California
  14. I know this is the truck forum, and I have a truck...62 D300, but I have some old car pics too. I thought old pics are old pics. If it's out of line, let me know and I'll delete this My cousins from different mothers. 1940 Dodge I think. My 49 Chrysler when it was our family wheels...on our way to vacation in Radium Hot Springs BC 1965 or 66 at a roadside rest stop...my Mother and sister. Still have that Coke cooler. The same 49 Chrysler in Drumheller, Alberta with my brother and other sister...earlier that same year The same 49 Chrysler in 1972 after I bought it from my Dad...I am 16 here washing the old beast.
  15. We went from the high 40's to bloody cold and snow overnight No blizzard though, just a bone chilling north wind I hate winter
  16. I have had good luck with a local upholstery shop for carpet. Mail order is way too expensive up here after exchange, shipping and border costs. I prefer to deal with the person who will make the carpet as well. Price is comparable when you consider you usually get what you pay for. Carpet is expensive.
  17. The engines are out there but it's not the kind of thing that will be easy. I looked for quite a while before I found an older rebuilt on Kijiji for $450. Try a wanted ad on Kijiji in the farm implements section. Still lots of these engines on the back 40 and not really front and center in the farmers mind. There is a wreckers in Elfros, Sask,(Elfros Auto Wreckers) and one in Webb, Sask (Jensens) with lots of older vehicles. For me, the hunt for parts is half the fun of an old car/truck I have the bare block for rebuilding (25 inch 251) and my nephew has a block as well, 25 inch but unknown CID. Mine is a freebie and his might be $100...both in Calgary.
  18. I had a local shop quote me $125 for the 2 windshield pieces in tinted safety glass...$600 for flat glass is outrageous! Check out a different shop
  19. Good news on your Mom's health. She has a wonderful smile! Best wishes to her and your family as well. I'll second your kudo's to our much maligned health care system. My Mom enjoyed the very best of care by some very top notch, caring people from top to bottom. They treated her and us with care and respect the whole time.
  20. Not Mopar but might be useful info for the flathead as well as the 292 Chevy. this is part 2 if your interested
  21. Picture? I might have one in the parts car but need to know what I'm looking for.
  22. That would be a great weekend camper just to get away from it all. A nice 440/727 and a cot and an icebox. OR, make it operable and have a good looking mobile storage shed
  23. Are the batteries wanted for use in a car or for scrap value?? I have left batteries by the trash stand here and they are gone before the garbage day every time. Have not heard of one being stolen from a vehicle though.
  24. Is your engine the 25 inch Canadian block???
