  1. Video deleted, with my apologies if it truly offended others. I did not really think about it too much, just posted it is all. I would have done this sooner, in case anyone wants to jump on that, but At&T was here doing repairs. Edited again, Peace
  2. Will send you a email Todd. I cannot truly explain how I feel about hearing again. I don't think I have said "huh" or "what" yet today. On the downside, I have rattles in my dash,,,,,,,, On the good side, I can now locate them.
  3. I'm glad you all enjoyed my boo bird comment. But I still stand by it. I have no objection whatsoever to anyone making comments about cars, or items for sale, or anything else for that matter. Anything is up for discussion, even my boo bird comment. What I find distasteful, classless, immature, and just rude (for lack of a g rated word) are posts that ridicule, insult, and put down another seller or person because that person does not know the item he/she is selling, or didn't bring the car up "snuff" compared to someone else, or even describe it accurately. All for the purpose (it seems to me at least), to puff out one's chest because he/she has that knowledge and has a urgent need to show it for all to honor. It was just a month or so ago a person new on here was trying to sell his deceased Dad's car and may have misrepresented it. He was crucified on here. Some people thrive on showing their wealth of knowledge at other's expense. Now that's how I interpret some posts, and I don't believe I am far off on my assessment. OK I don't have a clue what you mean with "Bob" and what or who I was referring to. I tried not to infer anyone in particular. Bob, first off, if I directed anything toward your post it was a mistake, but I don't see where I did. I feel your among the many on here who are pretty much a straight shooter, and I appreciate that. But, What am I missing here? He didn't say it was restored to original shape did he? I agree this seller was pretty straight forward in his description. I don't see anywhere are at where he misled anybody. Plain and simple I still don't see where it says restored to original. And what the heck does "so leave interpreting my posts up to me." mean? You post it, people interpret it. I guess you all can go on having a smile to this, I don't mind. To me at least there is little value to insulting a person on the Internet. Winning a war of words may be important to some, makes them feel much better when they sign off I guess. Some people thrive in finding fault in others. I still say a forum topic could be to ridicule one person's car a week, I volunteer mine first. I might add something, this, and a still active post I believe about the police car. Both threads listed phone numbers to call IF someone really wanted a answer to a question. Much easier then putting up post after post, (at least for me), to dial, talk to someone, get a straight answer maybe, but at least you would know. Heck you could even ask him if knows what he's talking about.
  4. I am a self employed fellow, a very small time general contractor. We have been hit especially hard. during the past three years or so around here. Am also a Viet Nam Vet, Phu Bai Two years ago I was forced to drop my health insurance, I just could not afford Blue Cross anymore. So I spent all this time, save the last 4 months or so without any. A buddy of mine talked me into seeing what the VA had to offer. I was hesitant, but I did use them to buy my first hours almost 40 years ago, (although I lost that during divorce, another story), and I did go to a in patient program for some alcohol and substance abuse issues, (20 years this past February). But the medical portion was way behind the times back then. My how things have changed. I went through the process of getting into the system, not too hard. Immediately I was scheduled for, and have already had a medical, eye test, ear test, physical therapy for some bad knees that may require surgery for one. Everything is equal too, if not better service and organized than the Blue Cross I once had. I live in the Bay Area, CA where everything is as close to high tech as you can get, and the VA is right up there. Today I left the clinic with two state of the art Hearing Aids. Both programmable, with controls on the aid itself PLUS a remote to turn one off, louder, etc. I get any meds mailed to me directly, I pay a mere pittance of that cost. That is all. Guess what I am trying to say is THANK YOU VA. If any vet is in need of assistance, I strongly suggest you contact them. This is not like it use to be, where you sit waiting all day for a doctor or nurse would barely give you the time of day. The VA is now a up to date, high tech facility. I don't know who was responsible for the change, (no politics please), but it has changed in a mighty big way. It was pretty emotional to walk out of the hospital being able to hear things I have not heard in over 30 years probably. In the service I worked at a ammo dump most of my 14 months, very close to large gun fire bases. That and the rock concerts when home took away most of my hearing. Even Blue Cross wanted me to pay 8 K or so for a lesser quality, one ear hearing aid. I am very grateful. OK I will step off the box now.
  5. Guess what I am saying is, show me what's false advertising so I can understand.
  6. I don't see what's false advertising here. I read it twice again, albeit fast, but never saw where the seller claimed "untouched" or "completely original". By stating what he did about the radio one should understand the car was modified in some way. I, and I am pretty sure others would understand even the paint, body work, wood and interior would probably be done in a much better quality than original. I see no false information provided. older body-off-frame, “nut and bolt” restoration of a rust-free original car I am also pretty sure people understand a restoration means the car has definitely been touched, and 99% sure whatever defects, blemishes during production would be fixed. Now, if it was sold as a survivor then I would think a argument could be made for false advertising. I don't see where it was stated as "all original, nothing changed"
  7. I am proud to say I have the same sun visor,,,,
  8. Man, that certainly is a nice car. I don't think I have even seen one with the spare on the tail gate like that. Wonder what the boo birds have to say.
  9. Boy, that almost makes want to tear out my tranny and rebuild,,,,, almost,, That is a great deal.
  10. Offensive isn't the word I would use. It's pretty obvious to me ridicule is a good theme in this and similar postings. I was wondering what the value is. I'm just stating my opinion, or thought. Hope that's still OK on here. I don't believe in the ignore function, everybody has good ideas once in awhile.
  11. I always wonder what it is inside people that drives them to knock another's possession. Well, not always wonder, curious is a good word I guess. Maybe we should have a forum topic for putting down other's cars? Pick one a week maybe.
  12. So, you get a rebuilt clutch, pressure plate, new throw out bearing, and pilot bushing and shippig for all this for $70?
  13. I understand your reasoning. Am enjoying your journey.
  14. I like Raspberry Tea Give me a minute while I look up quantify. I am still running the 6 volt starter. But my engine starts almost instantaneously... So it hardly labors. I was going to change it out as soon as the six volt starter quit on me, but never has for 5 years now. And, I have a spare six volt-er somewhere around here. But,,, having said this about the rpm of cranking; 1. Air escapes where there is a leak, if any. 2. Not only that, I have yet to see a engine not get better compression, be it only one pound, when oil, or fluid is not shot down a hole prior to turning. 3. If a engine shuts down when on a compression stroke on any random cylinder, you can bet if you get back in the car the next day the compression is gone. Correct? Granted there will be a speed when no measurable leakage occurs, hence no more increase in pressure on the gauge no matter how much faster it turns. And that is when you get your maximum reading. Also, I would also bet all the plugs should be removed to achieve this number.
  15. hmmm you could be right. But think of this for a moment. I would be willing to bet a coke you will get a higher reading from the same engine with; one with a six volt system versus with one with a 12 volt set up going through a six volt starter. Theory being slower turning crank leaves more time for air to escape before reaching tdc.
  16. To clarify my original reply. The rpm is relevant to compression numbers. To get a accurate reading all the plugs should be removed, and some say even to open the carb throttle fully. Hence, the fast the engine turns the higher the compression reading. anyway, your probably already done that,,,,,
  17. That's one of the better looking tubes I have seen come out of a used engine.
  18. I think compression is relative to rpm speed the starter turns your engine. I am running 12 volt through a six volt starter. I do have a 230 crank in a original 218 block. I measure 150 in all cylinders plus minus 3 lbs. That is with all the plugs out of the head. I think whats more important is variation between cylinders.
  19. Lost again today, hope they don't tank it. And I'm a A's fan myself.
  20. Thanks Harold, I installed the power windows and door lock a couple of years back. From Auto Loc, but I had the bulky switches that stuck out rather than recess into the door. So I changed to these new ones while waiting for the interior.
  21. Goldberg Brothers: Inventors of the Automobile Air Conditioner Here's a little factoid for automotive buffs or just to dazzle your friends. The four Goldberg Brothers The four Goldberg brothers, Lowell, Norman, Hiram, and Max, invented and developed the first automobile air-conditioner. On July 17, 1946, the temperature in Detroit was 97 degrees. The four brothers walked into old man Henry Ford's office and sweet-talked his secretary into telling him that four gentlemen were there with the most exciting innovation in the auto industry since the electric starter. Henry was curious and invited them into his office. They refused and instead asked that he come out to the parking lot to their car. They persuaded him to get into the car, which was about 130 degrees, turned on the air conditioner, and cooled the car off immediately. The old man got very excited and invited them back to the office, where he offered them $3 million for the patent. The brothers refused, saying they would settle for $2 million, but they wanted the recognition by having a label, 'The Goldberg Air Conditioner' on the dashboard of each car in which it was installed. Now old man Ford was more than just a little anti-Semitic, and there was no way he was going to put the Goldberg's name on two million Fords. They haggled back and forth for about two hours and finally agreed on $4 million and that just their first names would be shown. And so to this day, all Ford air conditioners show -- ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' Lo, Norm, Hi, and Max -- on the controls.
  22. I'm pretty happy with the outcome. But one thing it does show is my need to finish up the headliner, windlace and carpet..
