  1. Norm, does that wagon go fast enough to need that helmet???? :D
  2. Gary, don't think I've ever seen such things. At first I thought they might be something that attached to the hood ornament, but probably not as there are 4. Wish there were more pictures from different angles.
  3. I bought a set of the genuine water type decals from Neil Riddle a few years ago. I have kept them and made copies from them on the office color copier, cut them out, and used an Elmer's glue stick to stick them on the air cleaner, coil, oil filler cap and oil filter. They have stayed pretty well. Can always make more as needed. Thanks for the tips on the other types of paper to use.
  4. Norm, I think the reason they invented those white discs was to "sort of" give the appearance of a whitewall with a black sidewall tire. So, when you get wide whitewall and white disc, it's too much of a good thing. Probably not quite so bad with narrow whites. Is your coupe Maroon??
  5. I printed off a flag picture using the computer, then glued it onto the air filter in lieu of the oval orange tag. Not correct, but I kind of like it. Probably could really be a bit smaller. The bad news about that flag picture turned out to be......when it rained a few weekends ago and I was driving the old Plym, water went under the hood, got that sign wet, and the colors ran. Looks pretty cruddy now. Will have to remove it and probably put back the orange tag.
  6. Click on the line to see pic of Darin's car, a light colored car with light colored wheels and wide whitewalls. Maybe this will give you an idea of the appearance. xx Are your tires black or white sidewalls? I use 15 inch wheels and tires on my 47 Plym. Still have the original 16s that came on it. But it is easier to find full wheel covers to fit 15. Seems easier to me to find 15" tires , but 16s are offered by people like Coker. The only thing that might affect the way the car sits is use Biiig 16s on the rear, and smaaall 15s or even 14s on the front. I ran 205 x 15 radials for a while.....the car sat just a little lower than with 6-70 x 15s.
  7. Mario....did you see my post on your forum about radios???
  8. I think the ends of the front seat were always maroon, as were the bottoms of the door panels. Evidently that cord on the edge of the seat is maroon also. The strip on the panels was probably 6 to 8 inches wide. Rear seat......maroon along bottom.
  9. Hi. BobT from the P15-D24. That spare tire holder for side of the bed does not look too difficult to fabricate. Pretty simple. Far as I know, the 602 and 802 radios fit in exactly the same size opening. You can use either in a 47 Plymouth, for example.....only one hole choice there. Parts manual (car) pic of the 802 and attaching items. And the 602.... The antenna that was used on the cars.....cowl mount on the curve. 802 radio in the 47 Plymouth.......right of speedometer, left side of dash center section.
  10. Possibly so, Tony. They sort of run parallel, at least in places.
  11. Saw on the news this morning a twister did some damage in the city. No injuries, they said. Robin, hope that wasn't in your neighborhood.
  12. Found this site last night. Gives maps plus word directions of where to turn, what highway to take, etc. http://www.historic66.com/description/ There are books of similar nature available, probably at bookstores, online, and from Rt 66 magazine. Thinking in advance about the old Plymouth doings next June. I was trying to determine what way to go from Joplin to Tulsa via old 66 for the most part. It appears that can be done (more or less). When you get to Tulsa, 11th Street is the route. My next question is - how long will going this way take?? On the interstate it is about 100 miles -- an hour and a half to two hours. Speed limit on the Will Rogers Turnpike between MO line and Tulsa is 75mph.
  13. They use titles here in Missouri. They can issue a "builder's title", I think it's called. You have to get the car together, have bills of sale for the major components....body, engine....then take it to a highway patrol station for their inspection. Not sure what that title says when you get it or how it identifies the car for a model year. Better than nothing, I guess.
  14. Isn't there an Airtex number that indicates it has the newer materials inside that are more resistant to today's gasoline and its additives. Or is it just the current stock number for that pump?
  15. .....for $32.55 plus shipping???? The seller said it was a 1947 promo model. Doesn't look too bad, really. The price actually seems reasonable.
  16. Those double contact socket bases can be bought at just about any auto parts store.....pretty cheap. Just replace the single contact item with them and have the second wire to work with the new system.
  17. There's your turn signal, guys. Just use one of those truck items....it will be seen.
  18. A mail box on the front???? That thing would blind other drivers on a sunny day.
  19. A lot of the stuff on this shelf has to do with the Plymouth. Purchased over a period of several years. Some things get used occasionally. Need to somehow straighten it up, but not so easy to do. Maybe, someday.....
  20. If you have seen the agenda found thru the POC site....they plan to so some type preliminaries on Thursday; dig up the car Friday - they will also show the dig on a screen in the convention center, then I guess take the car there to display. Not sure after that. Their schedule: Thursday, June 14, 2007 Possible close-up viewing of the excavation site in the evening. Friday, June 15, 2007 Exhumation of the shrouded 1957 Plymouth to be shown via closed circuit TV inside the Tulsa Convention Center. Exact time TBA (probably sometime between Noon & 3 PM) Friday, June 15, 2007 Unveiling of the 1957 Plymouth and the other contents of the time capsule during an evening presentation at the Tulsa Convention Center. Saturday, June 16, 2007 1957 Plymouth will be on display along with other vehicles and items from Tulsa’s history in exhibit halls at the Tulsa Convention Center. The committee is also working on locating areas for parking vintage vehicles for public display in the downtown area w/ shuttle buses to and from the Convention Center.
  21. Marty......are those LED lights 12 volt? I still use 6V.
  22. Somehow, mine works like that. Tail lights are brake lights and turn signals, with double filament bulbs. Center light is brake light only. Now, I only have the parking lights hooked up as turn signals because I have not purchased double filament bulbs for them. And, you do not use the parking lights much anyway. There are pretty good instructions with some brands of add-on turn signals. I think Mr Coatney has a copy of one such diagram.
  23. Seems like someone once said the Dodge truck engine (i guess its a hemi) of the older vintage may be a bit smaller or some such. Back in high school (1960, 1961) there was a P15 convert I rode around in some with a truck V8 in it. Never did pay much attention....dont know if it was a hemi or not. I don't think there were many modifications made to stuff....truly an old school deal. The only thing I remember was they used a flexible exhaust pipe section to attach to the manifold......and it would pop off from time to time. Would have to get under the hood and put it back on. Of course, now, I wish I had known more about that installation. Have no idea where the car ended up. It was a faded maroon and a bit run down back then....just another old car.
  24. Norm, i have several knick knacks related to the car. They do not really do much, but i like having them. I made up a bulletin board thing for one show last summer using several of those items. In the meantime, it just sits there for me to look at. Maybe next time I will make a trunk display of them. Guess I need to quit buying such stuff.
