  1. I did not want to high jack Marks TODD build thread so I thought I would start my own. Talking about engineering flaws, I rented a JLG lift for a month few months and they have the exhaust blowing at the operator. It’s not only noisy, it’s annoying as hell with the smoke blowing towards you. I looked at it and took out three bolts and rotated it. It’s only being held by two of the three bolts but now it blows away from the operator. What were they thinking??
  2. You could put an inspection cover in the firewall above the valve cover
  3. If I win the lottery I’m buying that car.
  4. My dad converted it to 12 V 40 some years ago. He has an alternator on it but still uses the Mag. It’s been on my property for 32 years and always started awesome. Just this last couple years been giving me grief.
  5. I put new champion plugs in that John Deere recommended. Still won’t start good. I’m pretty convinced it’s the mag also. I found someone local that thinks he can handle it. Thanks for your Help
  6. You need to realize that 48D has a Californian truck where there is no salt and minimal rust like our midwestern trucks. They will not come out that simple. Plus I think our midwestern trucks worked harder!! ?
  7. You will also need to keep your kids out the room because a lot of swearing will be happening.
  8. I was wondering if the magneto was getting week also. When my father was alive he preached to me constantly never ever touch the magneto. He said it was extremely sensitive, so I need to find the John Deere god in our area. I was hoping to start with new plugs.
  9. I have a 49 or 50 John Deere B. Not sure exactly what year because the serial number tag has been missing for over forty years. I run only Shell Premium fuel and lately it’s been very hard to start. Once it starts, usually after a backfire or I pull it to start it runs perfect. I have a good strong 12 volt battery, spins like a top but just don’t want to start. I took the plugs out and wire wheeled them, set the plugs at .030 and it starts kind of ok for a few times and then the same problems. My dad had this tractor engine rebuild 45 years ago and it is always ran great. Just frustrating the hell out of me the last couple summers. Any thoughts?

  12. Amazing knowledge our forefathers had. All done with a pencil and math.
  13. Pictures may have to wait till spring. My father-in-law is leaving tomorrow morning to head to Arizona for the winter. He’s got it all covered up this afternoon. It’s solid as a rock but has a driveway paint job on it. Interior looks extremely nice with one small mouse hole in it on the ceiling. He is a retired body man so he will paint it himself next spring. Motor and everything appears to all be there and very clean. Thanks again for all the help.
  14. You are truly an artist
  15. I found the plate for the serial number. J-26920 What does that number tell me?. Also what’s the little cap under the upper passenger floorboard, looks like it goes across the top of the transmission? Thanks for the help guys.

  17. Paint!!!! You can’t see me but I am covering my ears right now.
  18. I will talk to my father-in-law about your catalog. He’s 83 years old and can fix just about anything with wire and duct tape. My guess is he won’t pay the 25 bucks to do it, but I do appreciate the offer.
  19. I never received your pm. I am still looking for the location of the serial number.
  20. Where do I find the model number on a 1928 four-door sedan.

  23. My father-in-law bought a 1928 four-door sedan. Where would I get any brochures or literature on it. I hang out on the Dodge truck side always, my first time I’ve stepped foot on the side of the fence Todd B
