  1. SteveO have a good time, wish I could make it
  2. Jim, Four Rivers in Washington MO.. The e brake holds like it should, but still a little gun shy so I have been blocking the wheels also
  3. Nice work, They drive better with a nice interior
  4. Update, took my car to the vocal Tech School a friend is a displaced Chrysler worker and being retrained in Auto Restoration. The class is building a 32 Ford, 56 Chevy, 54 Nash, complete frame off restorations. I take my car in next Tuesday for a "teachable moment on frame straightening". Best part it Free, they ask for a donation to the class.
  5. Ed, just did it. I got the longest screw driver I had. I taped the screws with a small piece of the blue masking tape for painting to the scre driver. I set the speedo in, then I took an ice pick and put into the very top hole so the holes would line up. Then went around it, one at time. Patience is the key to this job
  6. Or should I say another Bone Head move. On Saturday coming back from a car show I stopped by a friends house who has helped me a lot on my 47. He and his son where working on his 63 Nostalgic Super Stock. So I pull up behind his cars, OD lever in, power off, set E brake. About 30 minutes later I am talking with his wife and she yells there goes your car, brake didn't hold, car rolled down the street, into a neighbors yard and head on into the house!!! Got it back on level ground. The Drivers side frame horn took the brunt and is bent pretty good, bumper a slight buckle right below the bumper guard, fender looks to be slight bow in it, think when I pull everything back out it should be OK. We spent the next hour, readjusting my ebake to hold, hold and still hold. How hard will it be to straighten out that frame horn. Make matters worse I got second place at the show beat out by a 54 Hudson, frame off professional restore. That was OK My list of things to fix for Portland just got a little longer
  7. Steve, have fun, as you Lebanon is a very "new england" looking town. I hope they have show in thedowntown area. I have a prior committment or I would try and make it
  8. Micheal, good to hear you want your inteiror original. Sending fabric samples will insure you get the right material. Just a word of confirmation, plan on spending at least $10,000 if not more, it not just the seats, its headliner, dash, window molding, windlace, door sills etc etc, if you want it done right. If that does not fit your budget, dont do it half way it will look like S;948.
  9. Linclon Land Plymouth (POC) had a workday on my 47, Adjusted the rear brakes with the right factory tools, we are ready for some mountain climbing. Hooked up the OD, must say with the 16 inch radials, 372 gears (Dodge Rear end with bigger brakes) and the engine modification work, When we get up to speed on the Highway, cruising at 65 is nothing, smooth, quite and no vibrations (thanks to Bob for the new wheels and for George ASche for truing them). Installed my rebuilt speedo, trim pieices back on had a two spots that need to be repainted (then we wet sanded and buffed the car again), had my wheels striped, ordered the right wire hose clamps, found a guy to help build a trailer hitch (custom car builder I met). The list is getting shorter. So far the plans are to leave ST. Louis on June 10 and meet people in Greeley Co the night of June 11 (Cliff will have to catch up) June 12 Laramie Wy, June 13 & 14 Grand Tetons, June 15 Caldwell Idaho, June 16 arrive at that night at the meet. Still trying to figure out the return trip. Thinking about taking a few more days off, head do the Oregon Coast then over to Salt Lake , Denver, KC and then St. Louis
  10. If it was me, I would take it to a nice body shop or detailer and ask them how toget the bvest shine back, You might be surprised what tricks they have!
  11. Correct Date Code, I have found two orginal p15 heads with the correct date codes you are looking for. Since they are so rare, the can be very expensive. Not sure I want to part with them, but will consider a more than reasonable offer.
  12. go with the 16's they cost a lot more, so that makes them way cooler

  14. Thanks Bob, your the Best. Went to the first cruise of the year hear in St.Louis, 575 cars. Also ran intothe guy I bought my 47 from and he gave me the original owners manual, complete with notes to the new owners from the Dealership
  15. All, getting the 47 ready for another POC Judging. On the trunk emblem, special delux fender tags, hood ornament etc. What items of these have "red" striping on them? Pictures would help
  16. Couldn't you block off the orginal pump and go to an electric pump?
  17. call Scotts Speedo in the links section fixed my 47 like new
  18. I would agree with he overhaul. I was told that a "rattle" is often times main bearings. Bottom line is it runs, probably won't blow up, but to get her sing arebuild is in order.
  19. Rough ride maybe associated with the springs. Try putting 500 pounds in the bed and then see howit rides
  20. 21-22 in my 49 BC duals, OD
  21. Thats nothing, pull it apart, grind it down and weld it up, or, leave it on,grind out the rot top and bottom. Put a patch of fiberglass or cat hair filer from underneath, let it dry and them use body filler on top. aint pretty but it will work
  22. Just got my 47 speedo back from Scotts Speedometer repair. Speedo worked not the odometer (had run a long time with damaged gears) $300.00 to fix, reset at 0 miles
  23. venting for the tank, in line filters, as odd as it may sound make the sure the line hasn;t sucked in on itself.
  24. The easiest way in my opnion, is to convert the 6 volt generator to 12 volts, no wiring change, change out the voltage regulator and the best part is you use the stock mounting brackets, it looks stock and you don't have to change the pulley on the generator to accept the wider belt,
