  1. Thanks for the tips. I knew about the bolt patterns, not about the bell housing and drive shaft. Hoping it will be a relatively smooth conversion
  2. I am lucky to have not just one project but three,1949 P17 Plymouth, 1947 P15 and a 1948 1/2 ton Dodge Pilot House 5 window. The truck was going to be moth balled until a friend from the other forum was kind enough to part with the complete running gear from his 52 3/4 ton. The 48 needs king pins and springs, has a three speed, the previous owner put a late model rear end with 290ish gears, which are way to hig. My Plans are to use the 3/4 parts 1. Replace the front axle, I assume the 3/4 has larger drums and brakes and I will need to use the 1/2 ton peices 2. Front Springs, are they the same width and length, I am sure they are much stiffer 3. Install the the 4 speed in it, vs placing the rear end (gears) Anything thisng special to know about. Is the 4 speed clutch bigger than the 1/2 Any other tips for this swap would be appreciated.
  3. yes is it was stamped c38
  4. I just picked up a Chrysler 250 in talking to George Asche its a 1940ish vintage. My question is after a thorough cleaning I discovered it is painted Green. I was under the impression all of these types of motors were silver. The paint job is to complete to be the work of a shade tree artist? Could this be a reconditioned motor from a rebuilder such as a Jasper etc.
  5. All, I need one last piece and the exterior of my 49 will done. Does anyone have an extra to selll or know of where i might find a working trunk lock with keys:rolleyes: ? mIne was broken when the chromer took it apart (he warned me). I just saw one on ebay and bid on it but wasn't quick enough
  6. Do you want it, is it what you are looking for, do you lay awake thinking about, If so BUY IT.
  7. Bob, I just ordered an overdrive for my 49., should be in good shape for the St. Louis to Tulsa run. Count me in, Mark
  8. I'm a little confused (so its a good day, normally I 'm alot confused) will a split exhaust (George Asche) perform as well as true Header or does one just look cooler than the other, or is the performance differnce so minor it really doesn't matter, so one still looks cooler than the other.
  9. Greg, thanks for the info. when did you pull the motor, I assume it has been covered and what do you want for it. Not sure of how to PM, is that a personal message or a phone call?
  10. My new to me 1947 P15 special Delux is in need of a transplant. We had the motor ready to pull out, when we decided to pull the head for grins, 4 cylinders full of rust, and I mean full of rust. If and when we tear it down we surely will destroy the pistons and who knows what the crank will look like. Anyone have a spare motor in the Midwest? Any thoughts?
  11. bought my parts to rebuild from Roberts, less than $30.00 EZ to do.
  12. Whats happening in Tulsa next June. I am ready for a road trip
  13. Am the proud new owner of a 1947 Special Delux P15 with a bad motor. How easy and what are the steps and bolt locations to remove the front end for easy engine removal
