  1. Testing the light switch; running lights today.
  2. This is my carburetor off the engine a BX-V-3. After several searches on the web and through the archives. I have not seen a carb without a lever for the dashpot. I'm wondering if this was done on purpose from the factory or maybe my grandfather had disconnected it and sealed it up.
  3. Killing the rust and then giving it a shiny coat of black.
  4. Fun fact about this car, is it originally was purchased somewhere in Florida and then a few after that(1949) my great uncle bought it. Then in 1951 he sold the car to my grandfather, to which they used as a daily driver until 1966. The car sat in a carport w/sliding doors for several decades and was started up every few months to keep it loose. Then finally I inherited the car in 2007 and sat in my garage as is until earlier this year.
  5. I would just rebuild the fuel pump. Its not to difficult and fairly inexpensive for the kit.
  6. The fact that both carb and fuel pump are original. I would be inclined to start with the fuel system components first.
  7. Ok, so I was able to completely strip all of the other pieces from the fuel pump, except this one. Has anyone out there successfully removed this retainer cap for the rubber seal or does anyone know were I aquire such a peice. Thanks
  8. Here is taste of whats happening so far. I love the label on the headlamp socket; ground, pass, and drive.
  9. How old is the fuel pump? Possibly its not able to generate the vacum needed to keep prime. Or could be a sticking float in carburetor too.
  10. Greetings all, So it has been a hectic couple of months and the car project was put on hold during that time. So I'm happy to announce that my engine will be torn down this coming week and assessed for the necessary parts for rebuilding. Also I'm hoping to replace the entire electrical system this weekend too. Then after that the entire fuel system will be replaced( new tank, lines replaced, fuel pump rebuilt,etc...) Finally the cooling system will get an overhaul, which includes a complete water pump kit and necessary components. The radiator was sent out to be completely rebuilt, as I didn't want purchase a new one that might not fit. I will post new pictures when I can for all to see soon. Thank you all for following me on this wonderful and emotional journey with this car.
  11. In the tien I live in, there's a nice "junkyard" filled with cars that date back to the 50-60s. They also have a few older cars too. Its the hidden secret that many don't know about.
