  1. Shop was a bonus when we bought the property. Would never have sent the money to const such a shop. It was either the lift or stop working on cars, cant do the on the ground thing anymore.
  2. Update on possible project, got engine to turn over freely with hand crank so made the deal and used my Kabota to lift rear end, no passenger wheel, and pushed it home. Sitting on lift and working on rear end first, new axle, brakes bearings seals, brake lines and such. Thanks to all that weigh in with advice. I am sure will need more.
  3. Thanks for the offer. Found a guy in Oregon that has some so as soon as I close the deal I will get one. Thanks again
  4. I went back and looked at pics I took and yes Tom I believe there is a rearview mirror hanging there. I have decided to try and buy the truck, still need to make sure engine not seized and then will make offer. Wish me luck.
  5. Oh yeah, there is one nailed on my arse too, ouch.
  6. Rogue river valley near Medford. She who shall be obeyed , is pretty understanding about the need to trinker on stuff. I have and 77 cj7 that is about tinkered out so part of the reason looking at truck. Wife said key to staying together in retirement is me working in shop on stuff and her dealing with the horses. Red jeep is mine
  7. Fog lights would look great on it?. Because of having to fix PO stuff and the fact it is not running I an looking at an offer of $500 or there abouts. Like my wife said, I want it but dont need it.
  8. Owner says he was driving it before the brake debacle. I will make sure it turns over before pulling the pin. Funny about fog lights, that was one of the things that drew me to it as I drove by it sitting in the field. Thanks for reply
  9. Thanks for reply, I too consider there may be farther damage from beating on it. If Icant be reasonably sure I find a decent fix for this I may have to pass it up, bummer
  10. My goal with this project is to clean it up and make it safe to tool around town on a warm summer day. Dont really want to get into the modifying or crazy resto bug. Part of me getting it is to rescue it from the field before it turns to dirt, thanks for the reply.
  11. Considered that or taking to good machine shop have them rethread it. If all else fails can you find replacement axles?
  12. Looking at purchasing a 1950 Dodge B2B PU. Dodge trucks are something I dont know much about so I am doing my research. It needs work but is pretty complete. I am aware of brake issues, leaking cylinders, wiring and such. The one aspect that is concerning me is the PO, in trying to remove passenger side rear brake drum made a mess of the threads on the end of axle, he beat on the end of axle mushrooming the end a bit. I am concerned that replacing that axle might be a deal breaker. Any insight is welcome
