  1. Not sure if everyone can see Facebook links. I saw this and thought it was interesting. A little too far away for me. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1740625232680521/permalink/6758115307598130/?mibextid=cr9u03
  2. I have never owned a nice “show” car, e.g., street rod, custom, muscle car or nice antique. But I have put my 50 Chevy pickup I used to own in 4-5 shows and cruises. Mostly to meet and talk with other car folks. And like every else, some folks are friendly, helpful and courteous, and others are… not! There is definitely a social structure in the car hobby. Most of the time I go as a spectator and enjoy seeing everything, and generally keep my comments to myself.
  3. I have a Schumacher 6v/12v 2A/6A charger I bought about 33 years ago. It is completely manual. Last time I used it worked great.
  4. Thanks for all responses. Since 48-50 look so similar, and 51-53 look so similar, how do you determine the year without seeing the data plate? I mean, what small details give clues to the year?
  5. At one time Signalstat sold a turn signal switch # 800. An 8 wire system. It uses the single element parking lights in front as turn signals. Still have parking lights…. I had one on my 50 Chevy truck, and got it all to work, but don’t remember the wiring.
  6. I think 48, judging from the cars and trucks. No earlier than 47. Very cool look back.
  7. Not to sidetrack this discussion, but what truck models would have come with a 230, or any flathead motor, in 1960, since the Slant 6 was released that year? Novice question.
  8. Maybe this has been discussed in the past, idk. Yesterday I watched the 1973 movie Steel Arena. Glad I didn’t have to buy a ticket. ?. Anyway there was a cool 1939 Dodge Coupe in it. First used as a moonshine hauler, then as a demo derby car! Cringe! But he won the derby and drove it away. Anyone seen it? Lots of cool 40-50-60’s cars and trucks on the roads and in background shots. But I almost cried at some of derby cars that were destroyed.
  9. Any one know if this listing is correct?
  10. There is a 1958 Dodge 1/2-ton Pickup on barnfinds for sale with Gyromatic. The description in the listing does not accurately describe the operation of a Gyromatic as I understand it, but not too far off. I thought all of the fluid drive and semiautomatic transmissions were phased out before 58. Thanks!
  11. Are only B-series trucks considered Pilot House trucks? The C-series had lots of changes. Too many to call them Pilot House? What is the consensus?
  12. I had some clogged shackle bushings on a 55 Chevy pickup decades ago. I removed the grease fittings and dug in there with a wire and stuck the straw on a wd40 spray can in there and soaked the old grease. That helped soften it so I could dig more out. After awhile I replaced the zerks and was able to get them all greased.
  13. Model T and Model A Fords, Studebakers and lots of other cars/trucks had tapered axles and hubs, and require a similar puller. A friend gave me a homemade puller that I have yet to use.
  14. It’s not a signal flasher, is it? The way it’s mounted to the other doohickey makes me doubt that.
  15. Domiest, I see from your profile that you are in France, and do not have the availability of parts as we have in the US. I am sorry I cannot offer any advice about your carburetor problem. If you can get a parts and/or shop manual, it will be very helpful, as others has suggested.
  16. Great car! Well, I still have a lot to learn about old Mopars. When I saw the selector quadrant on the steering column I immediately thought of the Powerflite automatic transmission. Now I see the clutch pedal and you called it Gyro-Matic… I think I understand how the semiautomatic drive works, but what is the purpose of the selector on the column? Thanks!
  17. Welcome and Congrats! Nice car, and with Powerflite too. Cool.
  18. Is there anything on the internet that shows the weights of standard B and C model trucks? Curb weight, axle weights, GWVR and axle ratings? For instance, what are the weights mentioned for a 53 B-4–C-116? Thanks!
  19. What year did Dodge pickups get the larger pontoon-type rear fenders? 1953?
