  1. I wouldn't want ATF in my gearbox, but as I recall Dex3 was an "acceptable" fluid in the fluid coupling. As I recall AW32 fluid was also acceptable in the fluid coupling, but do your own research. I wouldn't take that as gospel without checking. It's been too many years ago that I had to research it.
  2. It's entirely possible that the person who put the 8 volt battery in the car had no idea what positive ground is and just put the battery in backwards, it's happened before. Most stuff on these old bats don't care much about polarity, even the old radio will work fine, but if the ammeter shows discharge as RPM's increase, and appears to be charging at low RPM's, then some idiot put the battery in backwards. Are you even sure they bothered to adjust the voltage regulator?
  3. There was a guy on eBay a few years ago who recast them. His name was ED PAUCH, and he was from somewhere in Canada. I know, that's not a lot of information, but how many guys named Ed Pauch can there be in Canada who cast old Chrysler plastic parts?
  4. If I weren't so lazy I would dig out some service info, but off the top of my head, one set probably has 6 tubes and the upgrade model probably has 8 tubes. If so, the 8 tube model should have a "push-pull" audio amplifier section in it. The "push-pull" output features more power and lower distortion. If you are handy with a solder gun and can accommodate a 6 volt radio, the radio probably only needs its capacitors replaced and the set will work like new. Check your local public library to see whether they have Sam's Photofact files from the early 50's, of so, you have some pictures, a schematic, and a parts list. The Photofacts turn up on eBay from time to to time, too and can be had for for a few bucks. Sams has an index online to help you find the right one and will send you copies, but finding an original on eBay is cheaper.
  5. Last time I cleaned out a tank I used a quart of Por-15's Marine Clean, 1:1 with hot water. Left the tank in the bed of my truck for a couple of days, threw in a handful of fine gravel for scrubbing action and it was spanky clean in a few days. Por 15 changed the name of the product since then, but it's still available under a different label.
  6. Don't forget the Mopar Nationals, just East of Columbus off I-70. It is held at the National Trail Raceway near Kirkersville. Mostly 60's+, but you never know what will show up in the swap meet area. Usually held the the first or second weekend in August, this is a decent show, with a good track area. Dress comfortably and bring lots of water, as it is usually hotter than **** and there is virtually no shade. Lots of nice cars on display, and lots of memories. Also the Greene County (Ohio) Antique Auto Club sponsors a great cruise-in every Friday evening starting in mid-April. Location is near Dayton, about 5 miles South of Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Recent years it has been held at the former Eastgate Ford location near US35 and Fairfield Road, but things change so you might want to confirm location for this year. Decent restaurants in the area. Great way to spend a warm Summer evening. No flea market, but great evening. You would be stunned by what usually shows up.
  7. FWIIW: On the Chrysler 8's they recommend brass nuts on those manifold studs. Not sure about the 6's, but might not hurt to confirm.
