Early 1955 truck wiper motor
Chris Wiehe replied to Chris Wiehe's topic in Mopar Flathead Truck Forum
Jeff what's the purpose of the little block before the switch. Thanks guys for vote to try and rebuild I'm gonna try that first now. I did pop the sides off and the grease looked little old and semi hard. Electricity isn't my thing, but trying to work with my boy sounds like a great father son project to tackle. -

If I hook power straight to it I could tell if it was a switch issue. The little block next to the switch (relay) maybe. How would I test or should I try to find one to replace it? Can it be hooked to power without that? -

Wipers are a no go. I took the motor out but can't seem to find one similar online. I've seen single motors but no dual. Should I just mount 2?

3/4 ton or 1/2 ton how to tell?
Chris Wiehe replied to Chris Wiehe's topic in Mopar Flathead Truck Forum
Door jams are smooth. I've looked around the frame for stamps but I'm not seeing any. Could be looking in wrong area? Would I have to take fenders off to see it? -
The DMV registration paperwork uses the number stamped on the engine. Found that number last night. The stamped plate is missing a 3. Guess it's one of those never get rid of the engine lol

Does anyone have a clock mounted in the right side grate? There are 3 round pins on back like a connector would go on but i don't see extra wire. Crawling around I've found all kinds of hanging wires. Gotta figure out what goes where.

Hand punched plate inside says 3/4 But guy I bought it from said 1/2 ton. There are extra springs in back. The serial # doesn't match anything but does look lime start of some engine #s which may make it a 230? How to tell if it's a 218 or 230? Sorry newbie questions.

This is mounted on firewall. Want to dig deeper can't see "dodge plate" guy said it was a heavy duty 1/2 ton. Plate says 3/4 ton. Any idea what other letters stand for. Can't find info on different trim models either.

I would say exposed hinge? The heater has a blowe on passenger side with a little door to either blow on floor or directs it towards the drivers side. There is also a clockin the dash

Looks like I'll be doing alot of digging and research. I've got brackets in door hinge I assumed were for original mirrors but not sure. This is a long week like watching Xmas presents under the tree. I did find a pic looks like there was a support bar on back of mirror that went to the hinges. What are feature differences between the 54 and 55? Is a cap heater standard or more of a deluxe feature.
