  7. The 48 Dodge does not have that wire. Thanks for the compliment, I tried my best.
  8. This is a good replacement for the gen, Take wires going to gen and volt reg and get rid of them. Take the hot wire coming from the firewall marked batt on volt reg and hook it to your one wire coming from alternator, The original amp gauge will work. I look all over for the answer to how to do this correctly and found nothing. So i share the pain I went through to figure this out. Don't use a 8v batt as it will not charge properly and will be ruined within a few weeks.
  9. and how many amps would I need to replace the old gen in my 48 dodge coupe
  10. do any of you know about a 6volt altenator that will work for my car, I found a bunch of stuff on them for gm and ford. I don't think my gauge would work with one of those.
  11. If I unhook the neg cable while running it dies.... Voltage was all over the place when checked while running, I took the gen apart and it is a mess inside beyond it;s worth, do any of you know about a 6volt altenator that will work for my car, I found a bunch of stuff on them for gm and ford. I don't think my gauge would work with one of those.
  12. Hey guy's, My battery started discharging all of a sudden on morning, so I cleaned all connections, no help. tested the generator by grounding field term and supplying juice to the positive term on gen and it spins and when you disconnect the field wire it goes faster so that is supposed to mean the gen is working, not. then I replaced the voltage regulator with a new one and jumped a to b for setting polarity and nothing still discharge, I hooked a wire to the case bolt and to the ground post of batt thinking it was not grounding but nothing helps still discharging, if I unhook the neg batt post while running it dies. what am I missing? Randy
  13. I found another thread about vibration damper, they say some dodge 6 cyl had them and some did not just a pulley, some folks removed theirs with no problems without it. just seems strange to be able to run one without a vibration damper.
  14. Thanks for the help. is it a 2 peice deal bulkanized plus the pulley closest to the motor, so I got 3 peices all together and the thick middle one spins freely, the car runs fine but this looks funny to me. This is on a 48 dodge club coupe 3 window.
  15. Hey guy's, New and need help. is it a harmonic balancer or a vibration dampener? and how do you remove it? mine seems to be in 2 peices with the thick metal part spinning free Thanks Randy
  16. I have ordered and bushel load of parts from them and had no problems with knowledge, expedite order and fitting of any components. Nothing but respect. Randy
