I like owner built and sometimes re-engineered cars that were put together using more ingenuity and skill rather than cash, and bolt on kits. Mods are fine with me, but I prefer them to be period correct and true to the nature of the vehicle, with safety items being the exception. I'm much more impressed by a guy who built his car from junkyard parts he made work well for cheap. I do everything myself including paint and upholstery.
  • My Project Cars
1930 Dodge open cab truck, used to be a fire truck. I plan to build a woody wagon from it.

1934 Ford truck, was a wrecker. I sold the boom and will eventually rat rod it, probably with Mopar power.

1937 Dodge suicide door sedan, bad rusty, it's rat rod material.

1947 Dodge suicide door sedan, Got it very cheap. I wanna build a rat rod from it with a roof rack and Deco feel.

1949 Desoto club coupe, It's a 1980's or 90's amateur resto that needs a redo, but is far better than most un-restored cars. I actually traded a beat up 2006 Kia Rio for it, even trade!.....What was that guy thinking??? LOL.....it has a good 327 Chevy and Turbo 400 that ain't coming out till it breaks. I'll add Mopar power when it does.

1950 Chrysler Imperial, I bought it for parts but liked it too much to go through with it, so I'll build a rat rod pickup from it.

1960 Chrysler Imperial 2dr crown coupe, My most rare car that I bought decades ago and am saving till I can really do it right. It has swivel seats and almost every other option available.

1960 Imperial sedan, I'll use the best parts on my 2dr, then build this from the left overs.

1966 Dodge A100 pickup, a rusty old patina rod that had sat for 26 years till I got it. I added disks on front and a total frankenstein brake system, went through the entire cooling system, lots of wiring fixes, and some mild custom work to make it my own. Drive it regularly.

1970 Plymouth Duster, My lone muscle car project. I bought it with a knocking slant 6 and a nice solid body for $100.! I wasn't really that interested but the guy kept saying "I hate to just junk it" so, I offered and he accepted!

1973 Dodge D200 , Work truck I built from junk. 318 auto, utility bed, and 4.10 grears

  1. While on the wiring subject.....I'm in the process of a complete rewire/redesign of my wiring on my 49 Desoto. I have been scouting around junkyards looking for pieces that I can transplant into my ride. I find that the later Fords have a great fuse/relay box for transplants. I pulled one from a 2006-2010 Explorer. The Ford design is in made of sections that snap together giving you the ability to mix and match as to customize the box to your needs .... say you wanted more 5 prong relays, but had a section with mini relays that you weren't using. Just pull out the mini relay section, go to the junkyard find most any modern Ford with a section for 5 prong relays to swap back in. They also have diodes, and breaker sections that can be swapped in. Another benefit of the Explorer box is that there are lots of fuse circuits to accommodate just about anything you might need.
  2. Don't know much about the 326, but the 318 poly is the same short block as the more modern LA 318. It just has different heads, solid lifters, and clip type wrist pins as opposed to press fit, but most bottom end parts will interchange . I built a 318 poly years ago and actually used the crank, rods and pistons from an LA 318 in the 318 poly block. you might wanna check the specs and compare, it may be possible to use 318 LA parts in your 326.
