  2. Are you jumping a 12v battery to a 6v? Or have the + and - reversed? Just connecting jumper cables shouldn't create fireworks.

  3. and another thing...say they make arrangement to meet to see a car...police station parking lot is great for this....if they show in a group....that means they have muscle, test drive folks and means to take the car they drove up in at the same time and be gone while you get booted if YOU are LUCKY.....sad days we are in now...I do not look at this as paranoia...I look at it as the basic street rules..the folks you dealing with did the alterations over time.

  5. Have you done the voltage drop diagnostics as outlined in one of Snipers excellent posts? If not, it is a great way to isolate such hair-pullers.

  10. Impossible to get my hands back behind dash but managed to get top clock screw out bottom one needs a slim offset screwdriver (Amazon to the rescue). Thought I could push clock up and out but no way to avoid loosening that bottom clip. Got my phone in and finally got a picture

  15. not everyone posts their donations....like the above mentioned headlight deal, the man was kind enough to give me a headlight...he paid the postage....I in turn donated to the forum in his name..I only mention this as I do not think any of this would be found on open forum.

  16. hi ,i have a 1941 Windsor convertible with vacamatic ,seems to me like the dash pot on your carb may not be helping ,rebuild the carb including the leather dash pot and adjust the idle ,should cure most problems .In my experience of fluid drive ownership its most unusual for them to need flushing and new fluid ,simply topping up has always worked for me. my key for the ignition unlocks both doors. Ive had the car 6 years now and after rewiring and fettling it runs like a champ, mind you the triple carbs ,twin exhausts and headers do help!

  17. I got one this morning about "held messages" and it is not from the site. If you look at the FROM email address it is "fraser.robinson@waitrose.com". That email address is not tied to a registered member of the site. Do not open these messages or click on any links in the message, they most likely are a phishing attempt.

  18. My Hollander book says that a Plymouth and Dodge 1946-55 starters interchange. I would check and clean the wiring connections for the starter button on both ends and the amp gauge connections. That’s a good price for a starter, but I think you have a different problem, because it seems to be sporadic. Humid conditions can compromise a constant connection to ground or power. I had a similar problem, so that’s my recommendation. Amp gauges can go bad also. But you can jump the terminals, as a test. Rick D.

  19. Nearest Listed in Rock Auto is $136 for 1950 Plymouth Deluxe. 49 and below not. Don't know if 1950 and above would fit.

  21. First thing to do is check over the other guys work, make sure it is safe. You have not looked at it yet ... I'm not doubting their work .... just suggesting to take a good look at it. I really like the flannel cloth idea. I have been Watching DD speed shop And the 55 chubby they took to the power tour this year. They used a red & white checkered vinyl .... looks like a table cloth at a picnic .... I love it because it was cheap and they did it themselves. I really like your idea with flannel better, is cloth & easier to work with. I remember back in 1987, it was kinda Kool to jack up my 1969 mustang fastback with air shocks & L60-15 tires. Just suggesting your Chrysler on the Chubby frame seems to have her rear end up in the air .... Not suggesting it is a bad thing, just something I might look at with options to lower it. I really have to add the 48-50 truck front end was the best ever made. You do you and have fun doing it.

  22. Going south of abq dn I-25 to Socorro and then west on 60 to Phoenix is awesomeness. You pass the VLA past Magdalena and go thru awesome ruggedness to the east industrial side of old Phoenix. Datil has the best burger just west of Magdalena. Another Los Control method of not snooping to buy another...just keep the gas tank empty. Ouch. Gas is inching up to 5 bucks a gallon here.

  24. Indeed, a nice parts washer. I’d like one. However space is a real premium in my garage. I can’t make it work unless a car goes. I won’t be doing that any time soon.
