  1. We’ve had some quite cold and snowy weather the last while. But I live in southern Alberta and we get the occasional break from Old Man Winter. This is usually the result of a Chinook which we’ve had the last four days. https://crownofthecontinent.net/entries/chinook-wind/5e27ff51-2b63-46b9-9c1f-068abda9be03 Today was 10C or 50F for those south of the border. It was great to get one of the old cars out!

  2. Might be a while before I can get a car out again. VERY windy right now and forecast is for snow and then blowing snow and cold for the next couple of days. However, long range looks pretty good. I’m hoping!

  3. Morning y'all. So our volunteer fire company is looking to restore our old 1953 Dodge Bruco Fire Engine. Vehicle plate says B-4TA-190, 152HP at 2900rpms, 171HP at 3200rpms. The engine block is stamped with T324-3337, the plate that should be on the manifold side is missing. My research of the engine stamp points me that it's a 377ci engine, correct? Tho I thought these came originally with a 331ci or 413ci. My only real question currently is what direction do I search for parts? Most sites focus on the smaller engine blocks. We haven't fired this engine up yet, still cleaning and inspecting everything. What engine parts were universal across the small to large block flatheads? I have attempted to use the search function but it doesn't seem to wanna pull up 377 by itself. I'll have to do some deep browsing thru the forum when I get a chance. Thank you.

  4. Scientific? Plymouthy, please just let them have their joke. This was the Japanese engineers attempting a joke. I wouldn’t be surprised if they planned the ramp to collapse so that they wouldn’t launch that huge tire into the next town. OK, to be fair, I have no idea what the translation is of the Japanese, and it may not be anything to do with “which tire goes farthest”. I just made that title up after watching the video.

  6. I painted a jet boat, car and many motorcycles in the backyard or driveway. Just have to pick your day so weather doesn't work against you understanding you are in Washington. One individual on this site used an inexpensive tarp style carport as his workshop/spray booth and was happy with his results. Check out his booth and work for some ideas on the cheap

  9. This was done as an experiment with budget spray paint. My son got me a new HVLP spray gun and pressure pot for Christmas (I love my kid). I am holding off using it till I figure out some sort of paint booth (Renting a storage compartment for 24 hours and covering the walls with painters plastic is the current favorite idea).

  11. Before you get too far there were older posts here about how to paint with Rustoleum paints, using a compressor and a Harbor Freight paint sprayer. I'm not planning on going the $10K route for painting my car.

  12. Okay, here's the answer. The plastic light-up lady hood ornament came out in 1942 models, both Deluxe and Custom. In the post war S-11 models, the Custom models had the plastic ornament, but may have also had the chrome lady. The DeLuxe models were all chrome. I have both types for my 48 DeSoto Deluxe. I also have the bracket that screws onto the bottom of the base that holds the light bulb for the plastic ornament. I have one complete plastic lady, and some pieces of another. They are very hard to find in good condition. i think someone reproduced a few of them at some point, but that was some 25 to 30 years ago!

  14. Been working on my wiring diagram, adding things that are not on the original, like heater, wipers, etc. Recently purchased the cigar lighter had to go out in the shop to find this, purchased it back in '88'. Does not seem to come with the mentioned 'Steering post Bracket', too bad. I am also missing the Name Plate.

  15. Under dash to the right of steering column was my best fit. Make sure your bends have nice sweeping radius as to not kink. Secure cable to firewall loosely. Dont screw up your dashboard

  18. In the past I toyed with the floor shifter. The design shown will not work on an R 10 overdrive transmission. What I wanted was for an R 10. My last attempt exists but is not tricked out and has not been road tested. I’m fighting old age and lyme infection so not pursuing much these days. It is an interesting study though.

  19. With that feel free folks, if you have a floor shift concept that works for a straight 3 speed or a r10g1 overdrive (That came in the 1952-56 Plymouth that are so popular from the 1939 - 1956 cars) post away!
