  3. I did not want to high jack Marks TODD build thread so I thought I would start my own. Talking about engineering flaws, I rented a JLG lift for a month few months and they have the exhaust blowing at the operator. It’s not only noisy, it’s annoying as hell with the smoke blowing towards you. I looked at it and took out three bolts and rotated it. It’s only being held by two of the three bolts but now it blows away from the operator. What were they thinking??

  4. Happy Thanksgiving to all of the members of the P15D25 Forum. This is a day to be with friends, family and loved ones. Please remember anyone that might has passed during the year and keep them in your thoughts and memories. Celebrate the time that you can spend with your family and friends because time is all to short, forget about the little things and rejoice in the good things the memories are important and not the quantity of things we have but the quality of what we can give to each other. From the cradle of history here in Valley Forge, PA have a safe journey during your travels during this holiday weekend and also during the entire holiday season. Rich Hartung Desoto1939@aol.com

  5. Too bad you aren't closer to me. I'd give you the 3 speed out of my 49. Went with a t5 and the original tranny is just taking up trunk space.

  9. Very nice! And a good score on the carb and intake. I like the way the paint came out.

  11. When we got it home, we enjoyed it for a few months. The previous owner had a few cars. This one had been sitting for a bit. He admittedly hadn’t washed it in 10 years. Every scratch and blemish had dirt caked into it. I scrubbed it with every high dollar whatever, but it wouldn’t clean up. So me and a buddy to the polisher to it. Essentially wet sanded it with a light scotch brite and the a 3 step cleaner/polisher. Lost some paint. But a far better looking car in my opinion. Here are some before and afters.

  12. If your hood is nice and shiny, you can see the light change without looking up. Guess that wouldn’t work for the patina folks.

  15. Generally Shoe lining thickness should be .180" max ad per the factory spec ..otherwise standard size drums will never fit over the assembled shoes and backing plates regardless of anchor or cam position. One thing else that can cause this problem is too long of W/cylinder piston push rods or different thicker pistons not letting the shoes retract enough for the drums to fit over the shoes.

  16. Looking closer, maybe this is a better picture. This picture shows a little drip tray where the drain tube connects to route water to the front of the firewall. Hope this helps. Brad

  17. Here's a picture of the underside of my 51 B3B dash showing the cowl vent area. There is nothing I would consider a drip tray. I'm fairly certain my truck is totally stock in that area and I don't remember removing anything that resembled a drip tray when I dismantled it years ago. Brad

  18. It is listed in the 1954-1956 parts catalog and it is listed in the 1957 & 1958 parts catalog. It is NOT listed in the 1951-1953 parts catalog or the 1959 parts catalog.

  19. Rainy day today so I stayed inside and played Even though my truck is a 51 I've always preferred the 48-50 style of mirror arms. So with that in mind I went ahead and ordered the repops from DCM Classics in Michigan. Overall the quality seems to be pretty decent. I don't know how thick the metal is on the originals but these seem to be sufficient. I do have to drill and tap a couple of holes in my door hinge brackets but that shouldn't be to much of a problem. Years ago I bought a pair of tail lights from Roberts Motors and was really disappointed in their build quality. Worse, they didn't come with screws or the socket internals. When you put them together it seemed that the cover went down to far onto the housing and didn't really seat well. So today I cut out two new cork gaskets from 1/4" thick cork. Next I scrounged up some stainless screws and assembled the lights. To me they look and feel a little better with the thick gasket. I went ahead and ordered the socket internals from DCM as it appears what they sell matches these housings. I guess I'll find out next week. And finally a while back I mentioned I would like to have a dual horn setup so I started browsing ebay to see what was available. On ebay I found one shorter Auto-lite horn that matched the horn that came on my truck and won the auction for it. It's actually in better shape than I expected. It needs to be taken apart, sandblasted and painted which I hope to get to in the near future. The only difference seems to be in the mounting tabs but I don't think it's enough to make a difference. I plan on copying JBNeal's mounting bracket. Brad

  20. That's right, the older mechanical speedo housings are becoming very scarce these days. I recently found out about Modern Driveline providing new housings, but they are super expensive at over $600 per unit. The link below directs you to the GM page, but only Ford housings are being shown there now. Not sure what's going on.... The guy that built my T5 reported that he's now sending off the electronic housings to be converted to mechanical, because it's a lot cheaper. I don't have any information on what's required or where they're sent. https://www.moderndriveline.com/product-category/transmissions/5-speed-transmissions/t5/gm-t5/

  22. After nine days without internet service, four service calls, dozens of phone calls to various departments, it turns out AT&T's finest were bested by a mouse.....! Back to Dodge stuff A number of years ago I found one of the large service desk binders on ebay. It covers the B series pickups, power wagons and route vans. It has one section my other oem parts book doesn't have and that's a Standard Parts section. My smaller book has the Standard Parts listing but only has one page with a reference to a different document. The big book has a half dozen pages or more covering standard hardware and their associated parts numbers. Pretty cool. Brad
